Join the Bracket Drag Series, a heart-pounding racing circuit that’s as much about camaraderie as it is about competition. Every weekend, racers, their families, friends, and fans come together at the track to experience the thrill of high-octane drag racing. Watch as drivers in dragsters, trucks, cars, and Junior Dragsters push their skills to the limit, battling for prize money and essential points toward the season championships.
In partnership with the NHRA Division 6 regional competition, the Bracket Drag Series highlights the very best in sportsman racing across various divisions, including Electronics, Non-Electronics, Top Eliminator, Street Sportsman, and Junior Dragster.

🎸 Uptown Blues Jam Summer Festival 🎸
Dates: July 11-13 Location: Joe's Garage, 25 minutes west of Edmonton Cost: $25 per person (kids 12 and under free)
Join us for a weekend of unforgettable music, jamming and dancing at the Uptown Blues Jam Summer Festival! Set against the scenic backdrop of Joe's Garage (an idyllic, private festival ground a few minutes outside Edmonton), this festival is a celebration of the joy of music and friendship.  Each year musicians gather to play music for each other and an enthusiastic group of music lovers.  All musicians can sign the list and play on our stage.  Attendees are welcome to day trip on Saturday, or camp out and enjoy music all weekend.  Joe's Garage is a festival ground, just outside Edmonton with beautiful camping available.  
We serve a beautiful meal on Saturday evening and breakfast on Sunday.

In this workshop we will explore the making or creation process of Ekphrastic Poetry using visual and musical prompts and then we’ll explore mending our words by putting them to work.
We’ll briefly discuss the history and value of Ekphrastic Poetry AND we’ll take a deep dive into the editing process and the poet’s necessity to do work beyond the surface. We’ll discuss considerations around nuance, subject, form, and voice.
An Ekphrastic poem is a poem inspired by a work of art or other image that holds meaning to the viewer. The poem can tell the story of the scene in a painting, express the feelings of the poet as he or she looks at a piece of art, or even contain an imagined dialogue between subjects in the artwork or between the artist and his or her creation. Join award-winning poet and educator, Rayanne Haines for this hour workshop, with a lot of writing time, on Ekphrastic poetry.
 
Instructor: Rayanne Haines
RAYANNE HAINES is an award-winning hybrid author and pushcart nominated poet, producer and podcaster. She is the author of Tell The Birds Your Body Is Not A Gun (Frontenac House), winner of the 2022 Stephan G. Stephansson, Alberta Literary Award for Poetry and shortlisted for both the BPAA Robert Kroetsch Award, and the ReLit Award. She's also the author of the poetry collections The Stories in My Skin (2013), Stained with the Colours of Sunday Morning (Inanna, 2017), and now, What Kind of Daughter? (Frontenac House, 2024) a poetry and essay memoir exploring grief, identity, and gendered trauma. Rayanne served as the 2022 Writer in Residence for the Edmonton Region Federation of Libraries, is the recipient of an Edmonton Artist Trust Fund Award, host of the Crow Reads Podcast, President of the League of Canadian Poets, and an Assistant Professor at MacEwan University. She has been published in various anthologies and journals including the Globe and Mail, Minola Review, Fiddlehead, Grain, FreeFall, Prairie Fire and others.
