This class is an introduction to the encaustics medium.
Encaustic artist, Erinn Evans, will guide you through the basics of painting with encaustics. You will learn several techniques for creating pattern and texture. By the end of your class, you will go home with your very own encaustic painting. All materials supplied.

Artist Bio:
Erinn Evans is an encaustics artist working out of her home studio in Sherwood Park, Alberta, who has been working in the encaustics medium for the past five years. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a minor in Art. Erinn is a Signature member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, as well as the International Encaustic Artists. She draws inspiration from animals and nature to create colourful paintings featuring patterns, depth, and texture. She has previously taught for the Leduc Arts Foundry and has consistently received great reviews from her encaustics students at the Artelier.

Under the Rocks is one of Canada’s premier emerging bluegrass acts. This heartfelt, talented bluegrass quartet that blends uplifting energy with a reflective reverence for the difficulties of reality that marries joy and sorrow and declares “YES”. Yes to all that it means to be alive on this planet, here and now.  

Hailing from Kelowna, Canada, Under the Rocks has emerged from a city with no other bluegrass acts to become one of Canada’s premier bluegrass bands. Featuring acoustic guitar (Jordan Klassen), fiddle (Chloe Davidson), banjo and mandolin (Chris Baxter), and upright bass (Nils Loewen) the band makes a big sound that tips its cap to tradition while incorporating singer-songwriter music intentionally put together with clever, inventive song arrangements, emotive instrumental breaks and powerful vocal harmony. Their shows commonly feature dancing, laughter, joyful hoots and hollers and serene moments accompanied by tears and tranquil sighs of release or appreciation.

Troy Bond is a comedian and writer based in New York City, known for his sharp crowdwork skills, first-rate joke writing and tongue-in-cheek impressions that helped to build his fast-growing audience of more than 3M across social platforms. His blend of nuanced comedic writing and on-stage charisma landed him on the 2023 Just for Laughs New Faces of Comedy lineup, following the likes of Kevin Hart, Taylor Tomlinson, Kumail Nanjiani and more. Beginning his impressive rise in stand-up at 17, the now-27-year-old is booked nightly in the city on his days off from selling out headlining shows across the United States. Tackling everything from capitalism and the presidential race to superheroes and the wizarding world, Bond is a versatile comic to watch. In addition to his work on camera and on stage, Troy co-hosts the BONDING podcast with fellow comic Torey Cole.

Each year we engage in some “friendly” hockey competition with the Faculty of Dentistry— all for a good cause.
In the past, we have partnered with the Movember Foundation, Diabetes Canada, and the Bissell Centre to raise money for these initiatives. This year we are supporting the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation. Everyone is welcome to begin the night with raffle entries and other activities, followed by an exciting hockey game between the two faculties.
We hope to see you cheer on your team on Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 3:30PM to 7:00PM at the Downtown Community Arena! *Please note the location change from previous years.
Join us at the afterparty at The Pint on Jasper starting at 7:30PM— tickets with a prepaid 1oz high-ball are included with your ticket purchase (while supplies last). Pick-up will be available at the arena prior to the game.
