Concert
Lydia Hol is a singer-songwriter whose music blends country, soul, and psychedelic rock. Her latest album, Some Dreamers of the Golden Dream (via Amelia Artists), draws inspiration from Joan Didion’s Slouching Towards Bethlehem. Since 2012, she has toured internationally across Denmark, Sweden, Germany, and the U.S. With a background in literature and filmmaking, Hol’s performance is both timeless and evocative.
Evan Cheadle, a Victoria-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, is known for his lush, vintage-inspired sound that fuses folk, psych, and classic rock. His 2021 album Fault Line Serenade (via Victory Pool) earned national acclaim for its warm analog production and poetic lyricism.

Food
Digable Roots is a Cowichan Valley working farm and farm-to-table culinary operation led by Red Seal Chef Callum Bottrell. Sourcing directly from its own fields, Digable Roots creates seasonal, ingredient-driven meals that celebrate the bounty of the Valley.

The Civic Orchestra of Victoria is a vibrant, community orchestra made up of passionate amateur and professional musicians from across the Greater Victoria region. They kick off their 42nd season with esteemed Music Director, Grant Harville, at the podium and a brilliant program entitled 'Souvenirs'.

Beringia - Ben Johnston-Urey Ben Johnston-Urey is a songwriter, composer and arranger currently living in Whitehorse, Yukon. Beringia beckons listeners to embark on a transformative journey, echoing the courageous footsteps of those who long ago ventured across the Bering Strait.
Magnolia Suite - R. Nathaniel Dett, arr. Grant HarvilleRobert Nathaniel Dett was a Canadian-American Black composer, organist, pianist, choral director, and music professor. Born and raised in Canada until the age of 11, he moved to the United States with his family and had most of his professional education and career there. The Magnolia Suite composed for solo piano is in five movements: 1. Magnolias (D Major), 2. The Deserted Cabin (B minor), 3. My Lady Love (A Major), 4. Mammy (D flat Major), 5. The Place Where the Rainbow Ends (G flat Major). It has been arranged for orchestra by Grant Harville.
L'Arlésienne Suites Nos. 1 and 2 - Georges BizetThe music in the L'Arlésienne Suites is derived from the musical score to Alphonse Daudet’s play, L’Arlésienne. The play premiered in October, 1872, receiving negative reviews in the theater and musical press. Bizet decided to take the music from the play and create an orchestral suite. For the suite, Bizet added the alto saxophone to the orchestra. Despite the negative reviews of the play, Bizet’s L’Arlésienne, Suite No. 1 became an immediate success. L'Arlésienne, Suite No. 1 became so popular that the publisher commissioned a second set, L'Arlésienne, Suite No. 2, in 1879, four years after Bizet's untimely death.

Smartphones are one of many ‘modifications’ humans make to themselves in the name of advancement. Early cybernetic devices have ranged from contact lenses to cochlear implants. Now haptics on our phones remind us to drink water, notifications urge us to get enough sleep, and our senses are extended by a web of computers accessible from the pocket-sized terminals we tuck under our pillows at night. This is a new work that explores pervasive media and our relationships to our devices, how they extend our senses, and affect our relationships with other humans and ourselves.

Join us as we welcome Kutatás Winery from Salt Spring Island for an evening of Hungarian-inspired cuisine and exceptional wines.
Chef Landon Crawford, drawing on his Hungarian roots, has crafted a modern menu inspired by Hungarian flavours and traditions, thoughtfully paired with the distinctive wines of Kutatás. On stage, Winter Harp’s outstanding musicians and singers, clad in beautiful medieval attire, perform a collection of music that ranges from familiar carols to Celtic, medieval and world tunes.
The Alix Goolden theatre sets a gorgeous backdrop for the ensemble's golden Celtic and classical harps, drums, tambourines, temple bells, flutes, and an assortment of beautiful, ancient and rare instruments, including the ethereal-sounding bass psaltery (the only one like it in the world), the organistrum (an early form of the hurdy-gurdy) and the Swedish nyckelharpa.

A perennial holiday classic brought to you by the Civic Orchestra of Victoria! Audience member voices join together as a choir for our 26th sing-along rendition of Handel’s most famous oratorio, led by the Civic Orchestra's Music Director, Grant Harville.

And YOU, the Audience, as the Chorus!
Non-singers are also welcome to enjoy the show; there is no obligation to sing-along. We encourage you to at least belt out a "Hallelujah!" or two.  😊🎶

It is strongly recommended that you purchase tickets in advance to reduce congestion at the door. 
The Civic Orchestra of Victoria has some vocal scores to lend to the Audience/Chorus during performance (donations are greatly appreciated). If you have your own score, please bring it with you. They are available for purchase at local music shops, including Long & McQuade Victoria.
Please note that while Civic Orchestra concerts are family-friendly, most programs are not suitable for very young children. If attending with children, please seat yourself near an exit so that you may easily take your children to the lobby during a performance if they become disruptive. Please be mindful of the concert-going experience of the patrons around you; we want everyone to enjoy the show! Thank you.

Now in their 25th Anniversary season, we invite you to join the Victoria Children’s Choir (VCC) for a heartwarming musical celebration of the festive winter holidays.  The VCC inspires young voices and brings communities together through song. Joy in Every Note will feature performances by all VCC ensembles—Prelude, Recital, Concert, and Youth Choirs—showcasing singers aged 7 to 20 in a joyful and diverse musical program.  This concert is a celebration of the joy, unity, and artistry that choral music brings to all.

The 900 Johnson Street entrance is at ground-level and wheelchair accessible. There is an elevator located on the first floor: as you enter the building go down the ramp to your right and the elevator is on the left at the bottom. Priority seating can be provided at concerts if you have accessibility issues; please contact the Venues Department . Wheelchair accessible restrooms are located on the main floor, beside the lobby in the Reception and Registration area.
