Maryna KRUT is a Ukrainian singer and virtuoso of the bandura, a stringed instrument unique to Ukraine that looks and sounds like a hybrid of lute and harp. At 28, KRUT is an assured performing artist; her compelling, soulful performances evoke both folk traditions and modern sensibilities, with pop and jazz flourishes. A Eurovision finalist, she often represents Ukraine at official events and performs for soldiers in the current war zone. The bandura’s harpsichord-like sound is both delicate and assertive. KRUT’s instrument has an astonishing 64 strings stretched over a single piece of wood, with 13 bass strings stretched along a short, fretless neck, and the remaining treble strings stretched across a large soundboard. She plays the bass set with her left hand, while the right plays across the prodigious treble array. In addition to being a masterful instrumentalist, KRUT’s striking, powerful voice soars in an acoustic setting, whether with a string quartet or solo.
Early bandurists were male balladeers who travelled from village to village; early in her career, says KRUT, “I dyed my hair pink, painted my nails black, wore leather jackets and started to play the bandura in a more modern, jazzy and funky way” (Vogue Australia). Now she’s stretching her style back toward the bandura’s folk roots. “[Her music] represents the DNA of Ukrainian culture, in all its styles, classic and very modern” (Ouest France).

The Victoria Children’s Choir is one of the top choral and music organizations in Canada. Under the leadership of an outstanding artistic team, our choristers are exposed to the highest standards of music education, encompassing vocal technique, musicianship and performance opportunities, for a full immersion in the transformative world of choral music.
In a unique and supportive environment, 180 choristers aged 7–20 from throughout Greater Victoria study and perform an array of contemporary and classical repertoire from around the world.  The choir tours internationally, and is regularly invited to collaborate with renowned musicians, including the Victoria Symphony, Pacific Opera Victoria, Victoria Jazz Society, and Victoria Baroque.

All performed by artists with solid musical preparation, diverse backgrounds and spectacular improvisational skills adding Jazz, blues, and other influences to the performance, and creating the totally unique sound of this band. A DJ will be taking over in between sets and after the band performance to keep you going!
All songs will be suitable for partner dancing so Latin dancing fans are very welcome to join us! If you need some encouragement in a very fun way to try some steps, a dance instructor will be teaching a class and making a dance performance as well.

PRISM Wellness is an anti-stigma and sexual health education-based program located on the traditional unceded lands of the Lekwungen speaking people of the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations. We support our 2SLGBTQ+ community through various harm reduction and educational workshops, STBBI testing & PrEP access clinic events, community events, service provider trainings and more.
For this upcoming Pride, we will be hosting a 2SLGBTQ+ sexual health education and anti-stigma community conference to support 2SLGBTQ+ folks in the community. Our educational conference will help us to broaden our support for 2SLGBTQ+ folks, discuss sexual health inequities amongst marginalized communities, provide partnership building with other service providers, and advocate for collective sexual healthcare strategies to better support 2SLGBTQ+ communities in the Southern Vancouver Island region.
In preparation for the event, we have organized a fundraiser to meet our financial goal. "Let's Celebrate Love" is a 2SLGBTQ+ Variety Show Fundraising Event & Spring Mixer which will showcase a wide range of incredible 2SLGBTQ+ talent in our beloved community! Our aim is simply to bring community together, celebrate our collective joy, and fundraise for PRISM Wellness to ensure we can continue supporting our 2SLGBTQ+.
PRISM Wellness is located on the traditional unceded lands of the Lekwungen speaking people of the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations. Prism Wellness’ primary focus is to reduce HIV, Hepatitis C, STBBIs, and stigma in the Southern Vancouver Island communities of gender and sexual minorities. By promoting queer and trans health in these, our communities, we are accomplishing that goal.
We encourage our community to make informed choices about their own sexual and substance use practices and wellness. Sex and harm reduction education to reduce HIV, hepatitis C and other sexually transmitted infections is part of our mission. It is paired with the cultivation of attitudes and behaviours that support safer, strong and stable foundations for overall community health and wellbeing.

Accompanied by Mark McDonald on harpsichord and piano. Following the sold-out concert in November, Victoria Baroque is offering a second chance to hear this belly-achingly funny show! Artists' BiosBenjamin Butterfield, tenorPraised by The New York Times as, “clarion-voiced and vibrant”, Benjamin has performed throughout North America and Europe as well as in the Middle East and Asia.
Recent engagements have included Messiah in Santa Rosa, California, the Verdi Requiem with the Vancouver Symphony, Bach’s B minor Mass with the Bach Choir of Bethlehem, a pre-concert recital of Ukrainian Art Song at Roy Thompson Hall through the Toronto Symphony and Handel’s Alcina with Les Violons du Roy in Montreal under Jonathan Cohen.
Past seasons have seen Benjamin at Carnegie Hall with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s (Haydn’s Creation), Het Concertgebouw (Handel’s La Resurrezione), at the National Concert Hall, Taipei (Puccini’s Messa di Gloria), as well as at the Kyiv Opera (Stankovych’s Kiddish Requiem) with Oksana Lyniv and the Frankfurt Symphony. With over forty CD recordings he has been recognized by the Juno Awards and is heard on CBC Radio. He is also featured in Messiah for ZDF TV from the Handel-Festspiele Halle with Trevor Pinnock and the English Concert and is the voice of Colm Feore for the contemporary opera vignette, Traffic Jammed in Dan Redican’s film Burnt Toast.
Head of Voice for the School of Music at UVic, Butterfield was named a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and presented with a Ruby Award from Opera Canada. He is Co-Director of the Ukrainian Art Song Summer Institute (Toronto) and serves as guest faculty for Opera Nuova (Edmonton), the Sicily International Voice Competition and Festival (Italy), Orford Musique (Quebec) and Valley Opera Summer Intensive (Kelowna).
Isaiah Bell, tenorIsaiah Bell performs across North America as a Classical tenor. In opera, he recently created the role of Johan in the world premiere of Julien Bilodeau & Michel Marc Bouchard’s La Reine-garçon at Opéra de Montréal (to be reprised at the Canadian Opera Company in 2025), as well as creating the role of Antinous in Rufus Wainwright and Daniel MacIvor’s Hadrian at the Canadian Opera Company. He also sang The Barber of Seville for Vancouver Opera, Mark Morris’s production of Curlew River at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the world premiere of La beauté du monde at Opéra de Montréal, and Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Des Moines Metro Opera. Concert engagements include regular appearances with the Toronto Symphony, San Francisco’s Philharmonia Baroque, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, and the Oratorio Society of New York. He also curates solo recitals that integrate traditional repertoire with spoken poetry and original compositions (Early Music Vancouver, Société d’art vocal de Montréal, Ottawa Chamberfest).
Isaiah complements his performance practice with composing and writing for the theatre. Currently he combines all these disciplines in his chamber-opera/cabaret-theatre solo show The Book of My Shames, a co-creation with director Sean Guist around Isaiah’s own words and music. The piece, currently touring in a version for chamber orchestra, has been described as “impossibly beautiful”, a “fascinating creation,” and a “comic, wrenchingly personal tour-de-force.”
Some recent and upcoming projects include Acis and Galatea with Richard Egarr and Philharmonia Baroque at Tanglewood and Caramoor, Haydn’s Creation with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and Mendelssohn’s Elijah with the Florida Orchestra, Symphony Nova Scotia, and the Oratorio Society of New York at Carnegie Hall. He also appears in concerts with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, the Valley Concert Society, and the Bach Choir of Bethlehem.  During pandemic shutdowns, Isaiah created a diverse body of work, including translating, adapting, and performing Poulenc’s solo opera La voix humaine for a City Opera Vancouver filmed production (a “finely tuned performance, so perfectly married to his own sensitive and intelligent adaptation” — Opera Canada). He also designed hybrid concept recitals for Early Music Vancouver and Ottawa Chamberfest, which featured his own music and poetry alongside works from the Classical canon. For 200 days in 2020, Isaiah immersed himself into a large-scale daily art/music/poetry creation project inspired by the meditative practice of haiku writing. The results can be seen on Instagram @isaiahisaiahisaiahisaiahisaiah.
Isaiah is also engaged with music education and creative-process training. He travels speaking and hosting master classes, and directs experimental concerts and stage productions for young artists (University of Victoria, Opera NUOVA, University of Toronto). He is currently editing his first novel for publication, and trying to teach himself the ukulele.
Timothy Carter, tenorCalgarian-born tenor Tim Carter currently resides in Victoria BC and recently completed his Master of Music at the University of Victoria, studying under Benjamin Butterfield. Taking a round-a-bout path to becoming a singer, Tim studied Psychology at the University of Calgary for years before making the switch, completing his Bachelor of Music at UofC under Dr. Laura Hynes. Having a keen passion for the study of languages, as well as a deep love of performing, opera was a natural fit. Tim is in the early stages of his career and is particularly excited about showcasing queer narratives through this art form. Recently, he premiered a new art song cycle by queer Edmontonian composer Stuart Beatch, Still Running, which describes the modern gay man’s experience growing up in the prairies.

The Village Choir is back at Alix Goolden Performance hall for their Spring Concert with special guest Becky Prokova. Featuring performances by Claire Butterfield, Oliver Swain, Ashley Wey, Damian Graham & Tyler Lieb. The Village Choir is a community choir for all people and all voices founded in 2020. This year's program includes music by Becky Provoka, Claire Butterfield, ColdPlay, Redbone, Hozier, John Lennon, Natasha Bedingfield, Cream and Bob Marley. Village Choir concerts are always unique and unforgettable celebrations of community and music.

We are a three piece playing grungy experimental rock in Victoria BC. Our influences range from Black Country New Road and Radiohead, to 90s electronic, to Modern Metal and even some Jazz.
Our biggest goal is to craft our own unique sound and stay true to the music. We've been hard at work getting these songs ready, and we really hope you enjoy!

We are a 4 peice Hardcore Punk band from Victoria and Sooke. We have played 2 shows so far. Our setlist consists of our 5 original songs on our EP as well as a few covers. Our sound has been described as sounding similar to Black Flag.

Tyler Johnson is a Guitarist and Songwriter based in Victoria, British Columbia. He was inspired to pick up the guitar after hearing his father's record collection at the age of 12. Tyler's first experience in the music scene was in 2012 in Edmonton, Alberta. Since then he has performed with multiple artists and bands as a front man and sideman. Currently, Tyler can be seen performing in a local band ("Second Fiddle") and as well as solo-artist in Victoria, BC. Having an eclectic taste in music Tyler draws influence from various genres and has spent many years as a pub & lounge musician playing anything from Folk, Rock, Blues, Country, Celtic, Traditional, Pop etc. His upcoming album "Songs For Everyone" will be released on August 31,2023 and was recorded at Neighborhood Recorders by Musician, Engineer and Producer Leeroy Stagger in Victoria, BC.

Transitional Alien formed in Victoria this past summer and has been writing original music combining rock, soul, and blues. On stage the performances are energetic and flashy while dripping with passion, attitude and sweat. Inspired by the greats of classic rock and blues this young trio is looking to make a mark on the live music scene and get into the studio to refine their unique sound. Keep your eyes and ears open as Transitional Alien brings a different flavor to the already vibrant musical community that is flourishing in this city.

Earth FreaksSince forming in 2021, Earth Freaks have worked at a feverish rate and continued to push themselves in a fashion that can be described as nothing short of miraculous.
​The four piece, which trained at Selkirk College’s renowned music program, has shown no signs of slowing down from the time of its inception. A jam-packed Summer in 2023 saw constant touring around Vancouver Island, British Columbia's Interior and Alberta, including performances at Sled Island in Calgary, MASSiF Music Festival in Nelson and RED Mountain Ski Resort’s first annual 'Between The Peaks' festival.
The release of two singles in August of '22- Heavy Sunshine and Colour Tones - proved to be sound evidence of the engaging, feel good songwriting that is characteristic of Earth Freaks, and was followed up by a full length debut album at the end of the year. March 2023 saw the release of the group’s latest single, the fan favourite 'Remedy,’ as well as their first venture outside of Canada as they brought their high-energy live experience to Mexico for a run of shows supporting reggae legends, ‘Antidoping’ and ‘Los Pericos.’
2024 is sure to be the busiest chapter yet for these young rockers. After relocating to Victoria in Autumn of 2022, the group has been working tirelessly to write and record new material and practice their incendiary stage experience.

Standard Issue Pleasure Model2017: what a year.. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Two young kids, 18 years old, meet via Tinder and inflamed libidos. From there a musical relationship was born, unfolding through the years as Shea Morgan and Raine Balson honed their craft, putting together psychedelic garage-rock, post-punk, post-rock and grunge compositions. Talented vocalists, and spirited guitarists, Standard Issue Pleasure Model were a band to be reckoned with; their live shows were electric, full of a glam-grunge energy. Raine grew as a performer, taking the spotlight with an incendiary presence that evoked the great frontwomen of the seventies. Her lead vocals propelled the band's debut single, and to date most popular track, Private Reserve, into the stratosphere. Soon after, the album "2020" was released, a concise yet ambitious first record, produced entirely by the band themselves and mixed and mastered by the hidden secret of Vancouver Island: Malcom Owen-Flood.
From the hectic days of 2020 through to 2023, Standard Issue Pleasure Model cemented themselves as fixtures in the independant-rock scene in Victoria and across Vancouver Island. JORANE is an artist like no other. She is a surprising creator and an instinctive vocalist, breaking musical standards and shaking up established codes.
Known for her work with Sarah McLachlan and drawing comparisons to Tori Amos and Joanna Newsom, Jorane is as impressive as a vocalist and composer as she is as a cellist.
This special presentation by The Seaside Music Festival is an immersive fresco where music, movement, and technologies intertwine with Jorane and the LAB company in HEMENETSET.
Instinct, introspection, and freedom are concepts that Jorane brings together under the sign of femininity. They are at the heart of this creation, which tends to restore its full place. This show is a ritual, the story of a transformation that invites spectators to travel as much within themselves as in a new universe and, above all, to charm the audience every time.

Explore the outer edges of reality and the universe with performances so hot you'll go SUPERNOVA! From Alderaan to Andoria and Acheron, creatures and beings from across many planets and fandoms will converge on Earth at the Victoria Event Centre for a night of stellar seduction, games, and more!
Galavant through the galaxy with us as you enter an otherworldly evening of adventure, curiosity and wonder. Packed with burlesque, nerdlesque and drag acts paying tribute to science fiction favourites and outer space, this sultry spectacle will be hosted by local drag sensation Peaches N’ Screams and will feature performances by our incredible headliner, Androsia Wilde, as well as Maverick, Iva Anorak, June Monsoon, Sweetness the Clown Slut, Jasper Jinks, Order of Asmodeus, Reckless Raven, Danger Vixen.
Storming Canadian stages from coast to coast, and recently making her international debut in the states, Peaches N’ Screams has quickly established herself as a drag icon with less than 2 years under her belt.
Androsia Wilde is the perfect tropical cocktail - a generous pour of burlesque's glitz and tease, splashed with the intoxicating and rhythmic flavours of The Bahamas. This Daughter of Starlight and Seafoam's performing journey spans over 3,000 miles- from the Island Paradise of her birth, to the Pacific Northwest she now calls 'home', and has taken her through the realms of alternative modelling, martial arts, immersive theatre, acting for television, and dance.
In addition to the live performances, this immersive event will also include contests, games, vendors, and mystery bags available for purchase ($10) which will include items such as themed enamel pins & stickers, fidget toys, and other various treats. Also, be sure to dress to impress in your best space/sci-fi themed attire (costumed/themed outfits are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED but not required), and strike a pose in the professionally-staffed photo booth!

Conservatory faculty who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+ community members or allies present an afternoon of music to celebrate the contributions of 2SLGBTQIA+ composers, arrangers, or performers. Celebrate Pride! is the culmination of our initiative, The Big IDEA: Sharing our music and telling our stories. A panel of guests will participate in a discussion about the importance of having pride in the significant contributions 2SLGBTQIA+ artists have made to our community and beyond!
Conservatory Chat 
2SLGBTQIA+ artists have made such important contributions to the Conservatory culture, our local community, and beyond. Panelists will discuss some of those contributions as well as the importance of celebrating pride in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. As the final part in our inaugural Conservatory Chat series, this discussion will inform or confirm attendees’ understanding the important presence 2SLGBTQIA+ people have in our artistic community. After exploring the fundamental topics of allyship and unconscious bias, followed by hope, celebrating Pride is the perfect way to wrap up our inaugural Conservatory Chat series!

There is an elevator located on the first floor: as you enter the building go down the ramp to your right and the elevator is on the left at the bottom.
