Join us for the Dream Nation Apparel 24-Hour event benefiting the Victoria Hospitals Foundation.
This event features multiple race options including a 1 hr, 3 hr, 6 hr, 12 hr, and 24 hr event. Participants can join individually or as a team of 2-10 people. The goal is to cover as much distance as possible within the chosen duration.
Capacity Limit: 50 participants total across all event categories.
New for 2024: The 1-hour option!
Enjoy the beautiful scenery in Duncan and challenge yourself against the clock. This event supports the Victoria Hospitals Foundation, which raises funds for medical equipment, special projects, education, and research at Royal Jubilee, Victoria General, and Gorge Road hospitals. VHF donors fund an incredible 40% of the equipment in these hospitals.
The event takes place live at the Cowichan Sportsplex and also features a virtual event capped at 500 participants, which can be completed any day during September 2024.
Cash Prizes:

$750 - Top fundraiser (must raise over $10,000 to qualify)
$250 - Top promoter (must refer at least 10 people to qualify)

All participants will receive swag from Dream Nation Apparel, including virtual run participants.
Some food and refreshments will be provided, and participants are encouraged to bring their own if they have special requirements. There will be room for participants to set up tents for the 6, 12, and 24-hour events.
No refunds for registrations. If the event is canceled, registration funds will be donated to the Victoria Hospitals Foundation.

Diamond DayFrom janky glitch-pop drums to jangly guitars on the verge of explosion; Diamond Day reshape shoegaze into their hazy electro dreamworld. Led by Rosier’s Béatrix Méthé and Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist, Quinn Bachand, the project began when Quinn moved to Boston as a teenager. The pair discovered an undeniable synergy after meeting at a music festival. Every weekend, Quinn would hop on a Montréal-bound greyhound to write, record and develop songs in Béatrix’s plateau apartment. Their debut record, Connect the Dots, is a “hypnotic and shoegazey alt-pop fever dream.” Méthé and Bachand enlisted a dream pop A-team–including producers Jorge Elbrecht and feeble little horse’s Sebastian Kinsler–to synthesize their expansive aesthetic over 10 tracks. Méthé’s magnetic vocals, catchy hooks and stream-of-consciousness lyrics became the band’s razor-sharp focus, cutting through Bachand's billowing noise-pop soundscapes and creating retro-futuristic euphoria.

For over 25 years, Victoria's Canadian Beauty has been keeping the Dead alive with their spirited performances. Expect lots of group improvisation, folky roots-country, harmony singing and dance floor favourites. As always, there's a different setlist every show!
Canadian Beauty's first ever Grateful Dead tribute show was in 1999 at Thursday's Pub, later known as Logan's. Over the years tributes to Neil Young, Bob Dylan, The Band, The Allman Brothers Band and Gram Parsons have appeared.
Canadian Beauty and all their variations endeavour to make the music they play their own. As skilled improvisors, they'd rather put their personal stamp on the songs than perform note-for-note renditions.

Things are going to get spicy, campy, and electrifying as three local drag artists heat up the Fernwood Inn for a night of drag, shenanigans, and local talent at the fifth instalment of FERN. The hair is bag, the numbers are campy, and the fun keeps rolling as a very fabulous local drag show hits the The Fernwood Inn on Thursday September 26.Hosted by the dynamic drag duo of Victoria's bearded & campy theatre queen Woofie and the fresh, zesty and spunky Vivian Vanderpuss (Canada's Drag Race Season 3), with special guest, the Bollywood lover King, Bad Shah (all Fernwood residents FYI).Enjoy delicious cocktails, local brews, and a full menu over two sets of over-the-top local drag numbers. Doors open and seating begins at 7:30pm, show at 8:00pm. Limited seats. Tickets are $20 and sold by tables of 4,5 and 6 plus 8 single tickets for a shared community table. 14 Flamingos will be celebrating the power of the word, and the release of their new book of lyrics and thoughts. Accompanied by their usual menagerie of clowns, jugglers, burlesque and drag performers, they will take you through a night of art upon art. The evening will also include performances by Pindian, and Cameron Schaefer.
14 Flamingos:Soundtracks to bad decisions and lawn ornaments on your walk of shame. A community and a collective of musicians, who work with dancers, artists and circus performers to bring the weird and wonderful to the stage. Combining sounds of art rock, nu-wave. surf rock, burn barrel barber shop quartets, and lost n found 33s in forgotten roadside thrift stores. Singer, songwriter, storyteller and clown Steve Craik is joined by long time friend, collaborator and drummer Brendan Pye, Alex Moore on keys and synth, Jeff Birmongham on trumpet, Josh Stull on Bass and Adam Cleland on the lead guitar. Pindian:Pindian is a Kwakwa̲ka̲'wakw and Nuu-Cha-Nulth MC born on lək̓ʷəŋən Territory (A.K.A Victoria B.C) who in 3 years of sobriety, has found immense healing in expressing themselves through lyricism in the genre of Hip Hop which they view to be an innovative, creative-native continuation of their nation’s tradition of storytelling, told through artistic practices since time immemorial.
Pindian started performing in the Summer Season of 2022 and since then has shared their songs on various stages and venues both in Victoria and Vancouver such as the Vancouver Playhouse for the 3rd International Indigenous Hip Hop Awards’ Trade Show at the Vancouver Playhouse and UVIC’s Farquhar Auditorium.
They aim to honour the roots of their culture and old school Hip Hop while sharing their stories through rhyme which make statements about healing through the intergenerational, traumatic effects of colonization, honouring their west coast lineage while also embracing tricksterism and having a few laughs and a good time while doing so.They are also a mural artist, painter, theatre performer and facilitator of workshops.
Cameron Schaefer:A new favorite in the Victoria music scene, Cameron Schaefer played keyboards in rock, blues and jazz bands for many years. Now he writes and performs his own songs. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll spit up on yourself.

In support of the Victoria Women’s Transition House (VWTH), established in 1974, which provides shelter, counseling, and support services for women and children affected by intimate partner violence. VWTH operates various programs including emergency shelters, crisis lines, and specialized support services, and will soon open a new 50-unit transitional housing program for survivors. Each year, VWTH supports over 2,000 women and hundreds of children and youth across Greater Victoria.

Born in Baku, Ozan Ardic is a concert composer with a background in fortepiano performance. Embracing a puristic philosophy, Ozan organizes his compositions into individual opus numbers, each offering a glimpse into his life. 
These works provide a purely audible experience, devoid of additional subtext, labels, or extramusical context. By omitting names, titles, or accompanying artwork for his compositions, Ozan aims to let each listener engage with the music on a deeply personal level, free from external influence. This approach invites listeners to discover their own meanings and emotional connections within each piece. Their attention and appreciation help each opus find its true place within the larger narrative of Ozan’s artistic journey.
Since 2012, Canada has become Ozan's second home, where he was warmly welcomed. Proud to stand among his fellow Canadians, he has dedicated his debut tour to the country that embraced him. The concert program opens with Tchaikovsky’s The Seasons, a work by one of the most influential composers for Ozan growing up and a fitting musical complement to this program.

Local diva and Sharon Jones super-fan Katherine Beckett has assembled a fiery 12-piece band to help pay tribute to the late, great Miss Sharon Jones and her band, the Dap-Kings on what would just about be the 8th anniversary of her untimely passing from pancreatic cancer at the age of 60. While there will never be another Sharon, her memory lives on in her music, and in our memories of the times she graced the stage here at the AGPH.

Vancouver Island based singer-songwriters John Gogo and Allen Dobb are joining together for an intimate acoustic concert at the Victoria Events Centre on Sunday, October 27th.
John Gogo released his sixth album Western Balladeer in July 2024. The recording which includes “Larry’s Grandad” and “Cougar Annie” reveals just what an inspired and skillful folk songwriter John Gogo has become.
Alone Together, Allen Dobb’s fourth full-length release, came out earlier this year, and is a finely crafted collection of Americana-style songs inspired by the stories, landscapes, and characters Dobb has encountered working as a range management specialist in the BC Interior.
The pair are seasoned veterans of the Canadian music scene, and longtime friends. Balladeer and actor John Gogo is best known for writing and performing his folksongs about the people and places he knows, the true and the tall tales of the west coast and the islands. From Haida Gwaii to St. John's to Old Crow, John has played community halls and big houses, festivals and pubs, theatres, and beer parlors.
Allen Dobb’s musical journey has taken him to Austin, TX, Nashville, TN, Lesotho, Southern Africa, and places in between. Canadian fiddler Frankie Rodgers composed Ookpik Waltz in 1965. By the early 1970s, it had lost its title, its composer was unknown, and fiddlers around North America had invented a mythical provenance for it, based on Hollywood’s inaccurate portrayals of Native American and First Nations’ music.The Mystery of the Ookpik restores credit to Frankie Rodgers and his rich performing and recording career. It shows how his Ukrainian heritage colored his composition and performance of Ookpik Waltz. It explains his move to New Zealand, after Canadian radio’s adherence to American broadcast trends left him without an audience. It details how Ookpik Waltz entered the fiddle contest scene, and how it was folk processed so that Rodgers’ original recording is viewed as “wrong” by contemporary audiences.
Joe Weed, Producer and Director of The Mystery of the Ookpik, has released seven albums of his own, produced many projects for independent artists and labels, and composes scores for film, TV, and museums. Ken Burns features one of Joe’s compositions in his 2023 documentary “The American Buffalo,” broadcast nationally on PBS, as well as in “The Mayo Clinic,” also broadcast on PBS.Joe produced and directed “The Waltz to Westphalia,” a 55-minute documentary film that tells the fascinating story of a Polish folk song’s metamorphosis into an American country fiddle classic, known in the US as “The Westphalia Waltz.” An expert on the life and music of Stephen Foster, he produced “Swanee, The Music of Stephen Foster.” Combining his research, storytelling, and musicianship, he has informed and inspired audiences on both sides of the Pacific about America’s first professional songwriter. In 2018, Joe released “Two Steps West of the Mississippi,” a collection of his original instrumental music based on American fiddle roots. He continues to produce acoustic music at his Highland Studios near Los Gatos, California.

Orient immerses us at the crossroads of the fascinating aesthetics of Korean Pansori and Persian music, exploring these two “Orients” rich in cultures and sophisticated millennial musical heritages. Virtuoso musicians of Constantinople together alongside their fabulous guests from Korea explore various modes and rhythms, imagining new musical landscapes where the five cardinal directions—East, West, North, South, and Center—create a narrative illustrated with Pansori tales and Persian poems by Rumi and Hafez.
This creates a land where spirits and souls meet, and the stories of the two Orients converse, with the microtonality of the Pansori and Persian musical modes at the heart of this dialogue.
