SPECTATORS:
This is an all day event.
The grounds will open for spectators at 11am on October 18. The show will start at 2:00 pm and will run until all heats and features are complete. There will be food, vendors and a lot of smashing and crashing to be had. Your entry fee is an all access entry with an invitation to walk the pit area to look at the cars or talk to the drivers. Spectators will be limited to the seating area in the covered grandstands. Only drivers will have access to the stands on the pit side of the track. Outside food and drinks are permitted.   NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED  
Parking on site is free. Limited Accessible parking spots.
Gate admission:
Age 10+ $25 per person.
Children ages 2 - 9 $15.
Children under age 2 Free

DRIVERS:
This is an all day event. Inspection will open at 8:00 am Oct 18 and close at 1:00 pm Sharp. If you are not through inspection or reinspection with a stick you will not run. NO EXCEPTIONS. 
Drivers receive free entry to the grounds with their paid entry fee. All others must purchase an admission ticket.

      About the McMaster Thespian Company:    
  The McMaster Thespian Company is a non-profit theatre organization specializing in developing and performing classical plays in new ways. Past shows include (but are not limited to) scripts and pieces from the classical Grecian, Elizabethan, and Victorian eras. MTC provides opportunities for students interested in performing, technical theatre, and production, and creates an inclusive forum for artists and technicians to develop and showcase their skills and talents. In the process, we cultivate theatrical performances that touch on a variety of social issues, bring theatre's origins and earliest pieces to life, and highlight the importance of live theatre at McMaster and in our surrounding community. The 2024-2025 school year marks MTC's 20th season.   
   Our company is composed of actors, crew members, and production team members that come from different faculties and backgrounds. Among our members, we encourage artistic and technical development within the diverse areas of theatre and provide an environment where our company members can explore classical theatre outside of academic study.

The JUNO Award winning Elmer Iseler Singers (EIS) has been conducted by artistic director Lydia Adams since 1998. This 20-voice professional choral ensemble, founded by the late Dr. Elmer Iseler in 1979, has thrilled audiences internationally, and led the way in developing exciting new choral works and experiences, building a stellar reputation in Canada, the United States and abroad, performing a wide range of repertoire with a focus on Canadian composers.
This concert is part of the Saturday Barrie Concerts series. Single tickets will be made available about 30 days before the concert.

The Elmer Iseler Singers are generously offering us the opportunity to do a workshop with them Saturday afternoon as well as perform 2 pieces with them during the concert.

East Coast songwriter Lennie Gallant has released fifteen albums of original songs which have won him a host of awards and nominations from the JUNOs, Les Prix Éloizes, and The ECMAs. Lennie is an international artist who has performed all over North America and Europe. His songs have been covered by many artists, and he has shared the stage with several orchestras and with performers such as Lucinda Williams, Patti Griffin and Roger Hodgson. One of Lennie's albums also went to the international space station and circled the planet 248 times. Lennie Gallant is a member of The Order of Canada and has been recognized for his humanitarian efforts. Lennie Gallant performs at Hugh’s Room on Thursday October 23.

Canadian Bandurist Capella

The Canadian Bandurist Capella (CBC) is one of the premier bandura ensembles in North America. Founded in 2001, the group showcases powerful male voices combined with the rich sound of the bandura, the national instrument of Ukraine. The Capella is committed to advancing and exploring new possibilities with choral bandura music while honouring the instrument’s deep history. Through dynamic musical arrangements and performances, the Canadian Bandurist Capella delivers a unique listening experience that raises the profile of the bandura and Ukrainian song in the Ukrainian Canadian community and beyond.
 
Vira Zelinska Bandura Capella "Zoloti Struny" 

Bandura Capella "Zoloti Struny" ("Golden Strings") is a Ukrainian youth ensemble composed of young musicians dedicated to playing the bandura, Ukraine's national musical instrument. The group has been in existence since the summer of 2001. The Capella consists of 26 members from the Greater Toronto Area. The organization is under the auspices of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Mississauga. Honoured Performing Artist of Ukraine, Vira Zelinska, an acknowledged teacher and performer from Ukraine, was the founder and first director of the group. Her daughter, Oksana Zelinska-Shevchuk, took over the role of musical director and teacher at Zoloti Struny in 2012.Throughout 2001-2025, Zoloti Struny members have participated in the Kiwanis Music Festival of Greater Toronto, as well as in the annual Ukrainian Music Festival, in solo/duet/trio bandura categories, winning places and receiving numerous scholarships. Zoloti Struny participate in major events within the Ukrainian community, such as the Toronto Ukrainian Bloor West Village Festival and the Charitable Marathon "Children of Canada – to Children of Ukraine!" Christmas concerts have become an annual tradition now and are a real treat for audiences. Since 2001, Zoloti Struny has recorded and released three CDs, produced a DVD movie about their summer camps, and presented a number of virtual video projects. In addition to practicing and performing throughout the year, students also have the opportunity to further hone their musical skills through studies at the annual "Litnia Zustrich" Bandura Summer Camp in Hawkestone, ON.Active participants at all events within the Ukrainian community of Toronto and Mississauga, Vira Zelinska Bandura Capella "Zoloti Struny" will continue to expand in the pursuit of musical excellence, ensuring the continuation of Ukrainian musical culture.
 
St. Demetrius Bandura Ensemble

The St. Demetrius Bandura Ensemble is comprised of students and alumni of the St. Demetrius Bandura School. The Bandura School was founded in 1983, and has been providing weekly instruction on bandura technique, theory, style and performance for over 40 years to students of all ages. Based at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Demetrius in Etobicoke, Ontario, the St. Demetrius Bandura Ensemble performs regularly at local church concerts as well as functions in the Toronto area, including the Toronto Ukrainian Festival. The ensemble takes pride in demonstrating the versatility of the bandura, performing pieces from a variety of genres, including traditional Ukrainian, liturgical, classical, and popular music. The St. Demetrius Bandura School and Ensemble are directed by Ron Demeda, assisted by William Kowalenko.

Kobzari are a Toronto-based group of young boys who specialize in playing traditional repertoire on traditional 20-stringed banduras led by Merited Artist of Ukraine, Victor Mishalow.

The Women’s Bandura Ensemble is a twenty-member bandura and vocal group, driven by their passion for the bandura and the Ukrainian musical tradition, maintaining important cultural motifs while expanding the instrument's horizons. The WBE is composed of women from seven cities in North America, including Toronto, New York, and Chicago. The mission of the Women’s Bandura Ensemble is to bring together talented, female bandurists in order to showcase the instrument, maintain musical traditions and foster new creative directions and artistry.

The Paul Yuzyk Academy of Toronto, which opened in September 2022, was created to serve the need for a high-quality Ukrainian Canadian academic program that sees student engagement as an integral part of its success. Our vision is to prioritize the student in the learning process and delight as we educate so that the transfer of heritage becomes natural, enduring, and self-replicating. Successful heritage transfer keeps our culture and our community strong.The Bandura Ensemble at the Pavlo Yuzyk Academy of Toronto was founded in 2022. It brings together 5th and 6th-grade students, for whom playing the bandura is a compulsory subject, as well as teachers from the Academy. The Ensemble has become a highlight of school celebrations and concerts for the Ukrainian community. The Ensemble’s repertoire includes folk and contemporary Ukrainian songs that inspire listeners. Currently, the Ensemble is led by the talented bandurist and teacher Olena Gavrylyuk.

It follows Maya, a multitasking mother who lives in Kolkata with her husband, Sundar, and their teenage son, Debu. She juggles three jobs as the family’s primary breadwinner, while also dealing with ostracization and neighbourhood rumours about Sundar, an unemployed ex-soldier suffering from PTSD. Debu is often left as his father’s primary caregiver, and the young man valiantly copes with feelings of affection and embarrassment in the face of his father’s daily struggles. After her husband disappears, Maya must fight to hold her family together in the face of an unexpected murder investigation and an unknown and very uncertain future. Director BioTanushree Das graduated from the University of Calcutta with a Masters in English Literature, and began her career as a theatre person – directing as well as acting. In 2011 Tanushree graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, with a Diploma in Film Editing. Born in Bangalore, Saumyananda Sahi studied philosophy at St Stephens College, Delhi before attending the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. Saumyananda has worked as a cinematographer on a variety of projects, both factual and fiction, which have gone on to screen and win awards at festivals such as Cannes, Berlin, Sundance, Locarno and Rotterdam. He has been nominated for an Asia Pacific Award, Filmfare Award and was selected for the BAFTA Breakthrough India programme in 2022. His recent work includes ‘All That Breathes’ (nominated for an Academy Award) and the Netflix series ‘Black Warrant’.

#skoden tells the story of Pernell Bad Arm, the Blackfoot man behind the infamous “Skoden” meme. What started out as a social media post to bond Indigenous people across Turtle Island over rez slang and relatable uncle material opened our eyes to something much more: a man whose life on the streets became a mockery to some and a figure of Indigenous empowerment to others but was most beloved by those who knew him personally. Damien Eagle Bear’s heartfelt and compassionate documentary humanizes the man behind the image, sharing stories from Pernell’s family and friends about his life and struggles, and serves as an anecdote to a bigger issue — the harsh reality of street life for many Indigenous people living in urban centres across so-called Canada.

Writing Hawa is the story of three generations of Hazara women from the same family in Afghanistan. With unique access, director Najiba Noori films her mother Hawa and her niece Zahra in their aspirations to emancipate themselves from patriarchal traditions. Forty years after her arranged marriage as a child, Hawa finally begins an independent life and begins studies to become literate. But with the return of the Taliban to power, her dreams, along with those of her daughter and granddaughter, are shattered as they face new daunting struggles.

Director BioNajiba NOORI was born in 1995 in Bamiyan, Afghanistan. She began working for media organizations as a volunteer when she was just 15. She has reported for various organizations and agencies, including the AFP, Huffington Post, MSF, FMIC, NRC and UN Women in Afghanistan. She participated in the Close-Up program 2020-2021 and at the IDFA Academy in 2022. She joined AFP as a video journalist in 2019. In 2021, she was obliged to leave her country when the Taliban took power in Afghanistan, and now lives in France. Writing Hawa is her first documentary.

As a six-time ECMA winner and eight-time Nova Scotia Music Award winner, Charlie has earned awards for Blues, Pop, and R&B/Soul Recordings of the Year, and on multiple occasions been recognized as Entertainer of the Year. A’Court has also received multiple Maple Blues Award nominations including Male Vocalist and Songwriter of the Year. Friday October 24.

This year is special. As we celebrate 50 years of history & 20 years of X Avant, we’ve gathered 5 curators to take over 918 Bathurst to enliven and celebrate 5 eras of precious sound. 
Sanjeet says, “Founded as a club night in Kampala, Uganda, Nyege Nyege began with a mission to create a safe, supportive space where East African DJs, musicians, and artists could take creative risks, share ideas, and build community. This foundation grew into a dynamic cultural platform that includes a festival, a professional recording studio and residency program, and two record labels—Nyege Nyege Tapes and Hakuna Kulala—dedicated to nurturing the underground music scene. With its own booking agency and relentless innovation, Nyege Nyege continues to champion a new generation of boundary-pushing creatives.
Sisso & Maiko’s Singeli—Tanzania’s breakneck dance music that layers frenetic loops with influences from Zanzibar’s taarab to South African afro-house, propelled by razor-sharp MCing that reflects the joys and struggles of urban life in Dar es Salaam. Will have you moving your body and screaming alongside your friends. 
Alongside this, Violence Gratuite will perform selections from her debut album Baleine à Boss, a suite of pulsing techno and fractured trap infused with echoes of French pop. Rooted in imagery from the forests of western Cameroon and shaped by a restless, exploratory spirit.
We are proud to partner with local critical and experimental magazine, The Vermin. The Vermin has curated our opening musical act, Krish, and the writers/artists Jessica Kasiama, Ibrahim Abusitta, and Daniel Maluka. Dedicated to the second section of The Vermin Issue 02: Against Pleasure, these artists will draw us to the sensory diversity of the tongue as a locus of speech and sound. Readers will be performing in the Gallery at 7:20, and Krish will be in the Main Hall at 8:00.
All of this was made possible with the hard work of Western Front, and is a part of a tour built by Debaser (Ottawa), Arts in the Margins (Montréal), and Send + Receive Festival (Winnipeg) and the MG.”
