Join us for the Dream Nation Apparel 24-Hour event benefiting the Victoria Hospitals Foundation.
This event features multiple race options including a 1 hr, 3 hr, 6 hr, 12 hr, and 24 hr event. Participants can join individually or as a team of 2-10 people. The goal is to cover as much distance as possible within the chosen duration.
Capacity Limit: 50 participants total across all event categories.
New for 2024: The 1-hour option!
Enjoy the beautiful scenery in Duncan and challenge yourself against the clock. This event supports the Victoria Hospitals Foundation, which raises funds for medical equipment, special projects, education, and research at Royal Jubilee, Victoria General, and Gorge Road hospitals. VHF donors fund an incredible 40% of the equipment in these hospitals.
The event takes place live at the Cowichan Sportsplex and also features a virtual event capped at 500 participants, which can be completed any day during September 2024.
Cash Prizes:

$750 - Top fundraiser (must raise over $10,000 to qualify)
$250 - Top promoter (must refer at least 10 people to qualify)

All participants will receive swag from Dream Nation Apparel, including virtual run participants.
Some food and refreshments will be provided, and participants are encouraged to bring their own if they have special requirements. There will be room for participants to set up tents for the 6, 12, and 24-hour events.
No refunds for registrations. If the event is canceled, registration funds will be donated to the Victoria Hospitals Foundation.

The Onion: A Gala for Weirdos is the second annual Sustainable Fashion Show produced by UNLEASH with the support of What’s Good YYJ. UNLEASH has partnered with the Victoria Event Centre to bring you a vibrant evening of sustainable fashion, drag, burlesque, dance, comedy, a mini market and much more. You do not want to miss the enticing layers that The Onion has to offer.
The Onion: A Gala for Weirdos is a showcase of the collaboration between local drag artists, burlesque performers, dancers, performance artists, comedians, and sustainable fashion designers.
You are encouraged to dress-up, wear the thing you never reach for, and enjoy the evening as the artists peel back the layers of The Onion right before your eyes.
The Onion is hosted by Rita Gayworth, with her old Hollywood charm and cheek, she will leave your jaw and her clothes on the floor. Rita Gayworth is an experienced emcee, comedienne, and dancer who has performed across the West Coast and has debuted a solo show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
The Onion is a collaboration of artists from all mediums including the cities favourite drag artists Sylvester Stalletto and Boy Gorgeous, fashion by International Master Florist Katherine Olmstead, Burlesque by Pacific Blue, Shibari by Ada x L'Amour, fashion by Burd Howse Studios, polaroids by Hi Bertie, with many more talented performers and a mini market by the designers.
The Onion is produced by Sam of UNLEASH, with a vision of uniting artists, fostering community, creating sustainably and just doing the damn thing. She produced “The Show” last year and is ready for this sold-out show to take the stage with a new crew of talented creatives. Sam runs the upcycled clothing brand UNLEASH, is a photographer, printmaker, performance artist, art school dropout, and lover of pushing the envelope.

Experience music performed by singers of the VCM Choral Summer Intensive Program and Emily Carr String Quartet. This hour-long concert will feature a wide variety of repertoire for choir and strings by composers J.S. Bach, Gabriel Fauré, Ola Gjeilo, James Mulholland, and Katerina Gimon.

The 900 Johnson Street entrance is at ground-level and wheelchair accessible. There is an elevator located on the first floor: as you enter the building go down the ramp to your right and the elevator is on the left at the bottom. Priority seating can be provided at concerts if you have accessibility issues; please contact the Venues Department . Wheelchair accessible restrooms are located on the main floor, beside the lobby in the Reception and Registration area.

Julio Avila Cuban Band is a dynamic addition to the Vancouver’s music and dance scene, led by Julio Avila, a talented bass player from Guantanamo, Cuba. The band delivers passionate performances of salsa, cumbia, bachata and more. The band’s intention is to share their Cuban Music and dance culture. Come to enjoy an unforgettable night of authentic Cuban music and dancing at the Victoria Event Centre.
JULIO AVILABorn and raised in Guantanamo, Cuba, in a family of established musicians, Julio Avila's musical journey dates back to when he was 7 years old.  Listening to his parents and older siblings perform, Julio first developed a strong bond with the traditional tune, changüí, which has roots in his native Guantanamo. Surrounded by this vibrant and rich musical heritage, Julio perfected playing his principal instrument, the bass, while taking on the lead singer, arranger and composer roles as well. As a member of the internationally renowned group La Sonora Universal, Julio performed throughout Europe and with El Grupo Cubano Brisas Del Palmar he has toured Western Canada since 2005.  A resident of Vancouver since 2015, Julio continues to captivate the audiences with his powerful and warm voice. He is the founder and music director of the Julio Avila Cuban Band, which delivers passionate performances of salsa, son, bachata, boleros and cumbias.
