One of Canada’s most acclaimed and much-loved singer-songwriters Cara Luft makes a long-anticipated return with a joyful solo album –– her first in over 13 years. The culmination of a period of upheaval & transformation, "My Heart Will Always Be" is her most assured and personal work to date. 
Cara's guiding principle was simple: to write and record with friends who embodied kindness, consideration and generosity of spirit.  From this ethos emerged the foundations of her new album and a trusted creative entourage she affectionately calls “The Quadrangle of Awesomeness". This entourage consists of musician/singer/songwriter Clayton Parsons (Cranbrook, BC), session musician/producer Soctt Poley (Liverpool, UK) and studio engineer Julia Graff (Vancouver, BC).  
Recorded over 12 days in Vancouver, Cara, Clayton and Scott sang and played nearly everything themselves – guitars, banjos, pedal steel, electric bass & percussion – making it an intimate and cathartic experience. It showcases Cara’s remarkable musicianship and uncanny ability to sing about personal experiences that resonate deeply with the listener, without descending into navel-gazing. “I want to create and offer a reflection of the human experience,” she explains.

Nautical Disaster was formed in 2018 by frontman Ryan LeBlanc, after hearing enough people at karaoke nights tell him to start his own Tragically Hip tribute act. With vocals set, finding the musicians wasn't tough. Rodney VanSpengen (Drums) has been with the project since the beginning, with Harry Somers (Bass/Vocals) joining about 8 months in, Stéphane Côté (Guitar/Vocals) has been with the band for two years but knew most of the members personally before joining, and Graham Francis (Guitar) joined us in 2025. The Band has survived the Covid Lockdown, and our lead singer getting married! Played shows on beaches, docks, boathouses, backyards & festivals, during heat domes & atmospheric rivers. A tight-knit group of guys who love what we do, professional and easy to work with.

A: There is very limited street parking along Johnson street, however the Vicious Poodle is conveniently located close to the Johnson street parkade. There are also numerous buses that travel from external communities to the downtown core.   
Q: is the venue wheelchair accessible?
A: Yes. However, there is a slight curb ( about 1 inch) in the doorway of the main entrance. Tables on the main level of the venue are accessible, the lower level is not wheel chair accessible.

The Parent Advisory Committee at Sir James Douglas is represented by the parents and caregivers of the more than 400 children who attend our school.  We create a community that works together to help our children thrive.  We are committed to supporting, encouraging and improving the quality of education and well being of our students and the community. The SJD PAC serves an important role as a bridge between parents, the school and the community.  We connect at meetings, fundraisers and parent education seminars throughout the year. We sponsor after school events that build community with SJD families, faculty/staff, local businesses and the surrounding Fairfield/James Bay neighbourhoods. Money raised by the PAC goes right back to our children.  We support our teachers with funding for classroom supplies, field trips and excursions.  We help improve the school grounds with new playground and sporting equipment.  We help fill the library with new books for our children to enjoy.  Everything we do benefits our children today and the ones who will walk the halls in the future.

Tyson Ray Borsboom (TRB) is heading out on a 25+ date run across Western Canada, playing everything from breweries to small rooms and whatever feels like home along the way. It’s a mix of folk, country, and Americana — songs about life, people, and the stuff you don’t always say out loud.
The shows are pretty simple — just honest tunes, good energy, and a room full of people sharing a night together. Touring as a duo with a mixture of Brayden Treble ( lead guitar ) and Nik Winnitowy ( pedal steel ) but it’s always about keeping it real and letting the songs do their thing.
