Nautical Disaster was formed in 2018 by frontman Ryan LeBlanc, after hearing enough people at karaoke nights tell him to start his own Tragically Hip tribute act. With vocals set, finding the musicians wasn't tough. Rodney VanSpengen (Drums) has been with the project since the beginning, with Harry Somers (Bass/Vocals) joining about 8 months in, Stéphane Côté (Guitar/Vocals) has been with the band for two years but knew most of the members personally before joining, and Graham Francis (Guitar) joined us in 2025. The Band has survived the Covid Lockdown, and our lead singer getting married! Played shows on beaches, docks, boathouses, backyards & festivals, during heat domes & atmospheric rivers. A tight-knit group of guys who love what we do, professional and easy to work with.

One of Canada’s most acclaimed and much-loved singer-songwriters Cara Luft makes a long-anticipated return with a joyful solo album –– her first in over 13 years. The culmination of a period of upheaval & transformation, "My Heart Will Always Be" is her most assured and personal work to date. 
Cara's guiding principle was simple: to write and record with friends who embodied kindness, consideration and generosity of spirit.  From this ethos emerged the foundations of her new album and a trusted creative entourage she affectionately calls “The Quadrangle of Awesomeness". This entourage consists of musician/singer/songwriter Clayton Parsons (Cranbrook, BC), session musician/producer Soctt Poley (Liverpool, UK) and studio engineer Julia Graff (Vancouver, BC).  
Recorded over 12 days in Vancouver, Cara, Clayton and Scott sang and played nearly everything themselves – guitars, banjos, pedal steel, electric bass & percussion – making it an intimate and cathartic experience. It showcases Cara’s remarkable musicianship and uncanny ability to sing about personal experiences that resonate deeply with the listener, without descending into navel-gazing. “I want to create and offer a reflection of the human experience,” she explains. 
The result -- "My Heart Will Always Be" -- is a tour de force. The album is both a personal declaration and a celebration of music’s enduring power to heal, connect and bring joy.

Daniel Champagne lives and breathes music. Playing upwards of 250 concerts around the world
each year, he is as loved globally as he is in his homeland of Australia. His signature guitar style
and formidable stage show have garnered accolades and dedicated fans worldwide.
Growing up in the Bega Valley on the Far South Coast of New South Wales, the story goes that
the young artist first picked up his instrument of choice at age five, following in the footsteps of
his musical father. He began writing songs at twelve, trained classically throughout his teens, and
performed wherever he could — honing his craft and developing the electric live show that he is
renowned for today. At eighteen, he finished school, turned professional, and hit the road without
looking back.
The following eighteen years have seen him release seven studio albums, sell out concerts across
the globe, play some of the biggest festivals under the sun, and share stages with the likes of

This year's performers include the young fiddlers of the BC Fiddle Orchestra and the Old-Time Danceband, joined by alumni from the past 32 years. Adding to the toe-tapping excitement will be members of Folkstra! and the Joy of Life Choir, backed by the mighty Joy of Life House Band of renowned local musicians. 
Topped off with performances by Daniel's special guests, these concerts inspire all ages, celebrating life as it blossoms in spring across the nation and resonates at home in Victoria through the wonderful power of live Canadian music.

After nearly a year on hiatus, Synergic is back. This is our first warehouse project to date, and we’re returning to our underground roots to bring Victoria’s techno community together under one roof. We’re keeping it minimal with just raw energy, a proper sound system, and the music that defines the scene.
Prepare for an immersive night of high-energy techno as we bring together a powerhouse roster. We are thrilled to welcome MARIST over from Vancouver! As a Vantek resident, she is a rising force known for blending her Middle Eastern roots with a deep, magnetic techno style that has seen her open for legends like Lilly Palmer, Marie Vaunt, Clara Cuve and Space 92.
Also joining us is Victoria’s very own TRUANT J., a local staple with a global reputation through releases on Soma and OSF who has brought their esoteric, textured sound to iconic stages from Paris to Gorg-o-mish. Rounding out the guest slots is BASTIAN GARCIA, a Mexican-born DJ/Producer and founder of Transmute whose progressive-rooted house and techno productions consistently climb the global Beatport Top 100. The night will finish by sounds of the SYNERGIC DJs, for some harder hitting techno.

In order to keep registration fees as low as possible, continue paying for member's meet fees and to qualify for government grants, we must fundraise! And what better way to do that than with a fun night of music bingo at the Fernwood Inn! Gather your friends and family and help us put the fun back in fundraising in support of the Oak Bay Orcas! There will also be many opportunities to win great prizes! Please note that we are welcoming teenage swimmers who would be able to participate in the game.  We will let parents decide if their child is old enough to play - our advice is 13 years and older but ultimately it is up to Orcas parents to decide if their swimmer is up for it!

Q: is there parking? 
A: There is very limited street parking along Johnson street, however the Vicious Poodle is conveniently located close to the Johnson street parkade. There are also numerous buses that travel from external communities to the downtown core.   
Q: is the venue wheelchair accessible?
A: Yes. However, there is a slight curb ( about 1 inch) in the doorway of the main entrance. Tables on the main level of the venue are accessible, the lower level is not wheel chair accessible. 
Q: can we reserve seats?***

The Parent Advisory Committee at Sir James Douglas is represented by the parents and caregivers of the more than 400 children who attend our school.  We create a community that works together to help our children thrive.  We are committed to supporting, encouraging and improving the quality of education and well being of our students and the community. The SJD PAC serves an important role as a bridge between parents, the school and the community.  We connect at meetings, fundraisers and parent education seminars throughout the year. We sponsor after school events that build community with SJD families, faculty/staff, local businesses and the surrounding Fairfield/James Bay neighbourhoods. Money raised by the PAC goes right back to our children.  We support our teachers with funding for classroom supplies, field trips and excursions.  We help improve the school grounds with new playground and sporting equipment.  We help fill the library with new books for our children to enjoy.  Everything we do benefits our children today and the ones who will walk the halls in the future.

With our friends at Phillips Brewing, and presented by our media partners Victoria Taste Buds and Chek News, Picklefest is coming to Victoria for the first time! Featuring 35+ vendors offering all things pickled and fermented with fully licensed beverage selections and live music.
This is an all-ages event. Kids 12 and under are free with a ticket-holding guardian.
 
Ticket Types:
VIP Early Access gets you in one hour early (10:00 am), ahead of the crowds. It lets you skip the line, shop in peace, and meet the vendors before it gets busy!

Early bird VIP pricing: $24.95 + fees
Regular VIP pricing: $34.95 + fees

General Admission allows you to access the entire event as early as 11:00 am.

Q: Are there Early Bird tickets?A: Yes—when available. Early Bird is limited quantity and can sell out fast. Once they’re gone, General Admission continues until we hit capacity.
 
Q: What’s the difference between Early Bird and General Admission?A: Same Picklefest experience— except Early Bird gets you a slightly better price.  We have a limited number of Early Bird tickets available.
 
Q: Do tickets include food and drinks? Is there re-fillable water available?A: Your ticket covers event entry. Food and drinks are available for purchase from our vendors and bars. There will be plenty of vendors where you can purchase meals. Be sure to bring an empty water bottle to fill up at our water stations.
 
Q: What does VIP include?A: VIP gets you in an hour early, ahead of the lines and lets you shop & meet the makers / vendors ahead of the crowds.
 
Q: Are tickets sold at the door?A: If the event isn’t sold out, we’ll have limited door tickets. Capacity is real—buy ahead to guarantee entry.
 
Q: Can I get a refund if I can’t go?A: No—tickets are final sale. 
 
Q: Do I need to print my ticket?A: Nope—mobile scan is perfect. Just have the QR code ready.

Q: What can’t I bring?A: No outside alcohol, weapons, illegal substances, professional photography/videography equipment or anything the venue prohibits. Bags may be checked at entry.
