Love, Loss, and What I Wore is a play written by Nora and Delia Ephron based on the 1995 book of the same name by Ilene Beckerman. It's a funny, relatable, and poignant collection of monologues about women's lives, using clothing as a powerful lens to explore memories, relationships, milestones, and identity, creating a strong sense of sisterhood and universal experience for the women and men. It's a celebration of life's big and small moments, from disastrous first dates to significant life changes, all tied together by the clothes we wear. It is organized as a series of monologues and uses a rotating cast of five principal women. The subject matter of the monologues includes women's relationships and wardrobes and at times the interaction of the two, using the female wardrobe as a time capsule of a woman's life.
IINTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
This performance of Love, Loss and What I Wore is being performed on International Women's Day as part of a very special day.  The show will be preceded by 'high tea' and a fashion show.  Food and beverages are being generously donated by our Presenting Sponsor, Laura's Coffee Corner.  The fashion show is being arranged with fashions from local boutique The Edge.
The event will begin promptly at 1:30 with the reading beginning at 2:00.  Tables of four will be available as well as single ticket seats.  All seats will be at a table of four. This performance celebrates all women.

Bring your knitting, embroidery, sketchbook, crotchet, any crafts you're enjoying (new year new hobbies welcome!) and settle in for a warm and elegant evening of making + movie magic. We'll keep the lights soft so you can stitch, sketch, and create while Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy unfold on the big screen.
Whether you're a dedicated maker, trying out a new hobby for the new year, or just craving a relaxed, communal night with fellow crafters, Craft Club Cinema is designed to help you slow down, connect, and enjoy a unique experience in the Hollywood Theatre.

Purchase a workshop ticket for a hands-on embroidery workshop before the show led by local artist and educator Sadie Gilker (they/she). For this workshop, Sadie will be guiding workshop participants through a Regency-era-inspired embroidery sampler, adapted from early 19th-century needlework patterns. The featured design is based on a traditional handkerchief corner motif, with multiple size options availalbe. Perfect for a small sampler, a full hoop composition, or a fully functional Jane Austen-era handkerchief.
All materials are provided, and you'll also receive optional instructions for turning your finished embroidery into a real, usable handkerchief. Spots are limited!
Sadie Gilker is an avid embroiderer, painter, and designer whose practice explores texture, memory, and the natural world. With over 10 years of embroidery experience and a teaching approach rooted in sustainability and collective care, Sadie creates a welcoming space for all skill levels.

ABOUT THE MOVIE 
It’s a story about the fastest street racer of Mt Akina.  Takumi, a delivery boy; Ryousuke, an engineer of speed; and Kyouichi, a professional racer: the three of them become duelists of drifts.
For five years, 18-year-old Takumi has been delivering tofu in his father’s obsolescent Toyota AE86 every morning. Not only has he become a good racer, but he has also unwittingly perfected the art of drifting. 
He was never an aficionado of hill racing until he is asked by his father to drive his AE86 in a David and Goliath race against Night Kids’ EVO. A glorious but unexpected victory awakens the competitive genes in his blood, while his overnight fame inevitably leads to hellraising races one after another, each one more perilous and exciting than the previous one.
Starring Asia’s hottest heartthrobs, Jay Chou and Edison Chen, Initial D is adapted from one of the most popular eponymous manga and anime series in Japan. This is the first live-action feature based on the series to ever grace the silver screen in the world.
THE ART OF DRIFTING
The D of the title stands for drifting, a racing technique of braking the rear tires loose in a controlled manner right before an uncontrolled skid. Drifting is the fastest way through a corner. A car is considered to be drifting when all of its wheels are slipping, but the front wheels are still pointed in the direction of the corner, or at least straight.

天才賽車手高橋涼介（陳冠希）認為，真正的車手要在下坡道上見真章，他領導的REDSUN車隊將展開遠征各山路的計劃。與涼介亦敵亦友的中里毅（余文樂）接受了挑戰，決定與涼介各從國內南北山路開始征戰，看誰能贏得最多山路。
日本秋名山上的清晨，一輛豐田出產的中古車AE86優美地在下坡道飛馳，車內神秘車手的飄移車速使人吃驚。AE86在滕原豆腐店旁停下，睡眼惺忪的少年滕原拓海（周杰倫）回到店裡，只見老父滕原文太（黃秋生）醉倒廳中，拓海幫父親收拾東西，憶起五年來每天清晨代父送豆腐到秋明山上的旅店，心情也沉重起來。
暑假前，快將畢業的油站太子爺阿木（杜汶澤）向他的同班好友拓海大談飛車經驗。拓海對飛車一事完全沒有概念。恰巧女同學茂木夏樹（鈴木杏）經過，夏樹向來對拓海有意，拓海卻刻意逃避。一輛名貴房車到來接載夏樹，前往一家情人酒店。
阿木父親立花佑一（鍾鎮濤）開設油站，拓海下課後會來做兼職。中里毅來到油站，挑戰阿木的車隊，阿木硬著頭皮接戰。晚上，中里毅開著GTR來到秋名山起步點，涼介早在等候。阿木應戰，結果在山路上被中里毅大敗。當晚，中里毅在山路上練習時巧遇神秘的AE86，竟被對方輕易擊敗。中里毅和涼介遂向阿木打探AE86的消息，阿木兩父子心知該車為文太所有。
阿木求文太出戰中里毅，文太聽到GTR的利害，有點心動。夏樹相約拓海去海灘暢泳，拓海不置可否。涼介和中里毅在豆腐店出現，原來兩人查出文太是當年的傳奇車神，並向文太下戰書。文太向拓海表示如果他代父出戰獲勝，就借AE86給拓海到海灘。
挑戰之夜，AE86上山。阿木見來者竟是拓海，嚇了一跳！山路上，AE86再戰GTR，拓海利用溝渠拐彎技術將之擊敗。涼介更詫異於拓海的賽車技術全憑感覺，根本毫無認識。
海灘上，穿上泳衣的夏樹向拓海表白，兩人打開心扉。拓海初嘗愛情滋味，看著夏樹回家，反而有點茫然。
阿木及拓海遇上岩城清次（劉畊宏）挑戰，拓海雖險勝清次，豈料接著卻被清次的好友須藤京一報仇（陳小春）。拓海力戰下，AE86超越機件極限，引擎失靈。同時，阿木目睹夏樹與一個男人步出酒店。拓海同時面對信心、友情及愛情的挑戰，究竟如何面對？ 
由亞洲至尊偶像周杰倫、鈴木杏及陳冠希領銜主演，《頭文字D》由日本同名殿堂級漫畫及動畫片集改編而成，更是首次將這個賽車國度飆進大銀幕，成為極富漫畫感的真人電影版！ 
飄移解構
片名中的「D」代表「飄移」(Drifting)，是一種獨特的拐彎駕駛技術。駕駛者於彎路時急速煞車，導致車尾呈失控性擺動，令四輪在路面滑行，但前輪仍然指向彎角或向前。這樣汽車便能以最快速度拐過彎角。

Books & Ideas returns to Granville Island in the new year with headliner cultural icons: Paul Myers, Charlie Demers, and the enduring figure of John Candy. One of comedy’s most beloved stars, Candy captivated audiences with his roles in Hollywood classics like Planes, Trains and Automobiles, The Great Outdoors, Spaceballs, and Uncle Buck. Now, for the first time since Candy’s tragic death, bestselling biographer Paul Myers tells the full story of the man behind the laughs. 
Canadian author and musician Paul Myers has written the definitive biographies of The Kids in the Hall, Todd Rundgren, Barenaked Ladies, and more. In John Candy: A Life in Comedy, he draws on extensive research and exclusive interviews with many of Candy’s closest friends and colleagues—including Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, Tom Hanks, Ron Howard, Steve Martin, Catherine O’Hara, and Martin Short—to celebrate the comedian’s life and unparalleled talent.

For those looking for an unusual musical experience, Absolute Unit is an unpredictable 18-piece spectral post-lounge orchestra, playing indescribable music combining drum'n'bass, ambient, noise, soundart, and a few funky hits from the 70s. Absolute Unit is made up of an all-star collection of Vancouver's top artists: 5 laptop/ electronica performers, two drummers, two keyboard players, bassist, guitarist, 6 horns, vocalist and projection artist.
Innovative, irreverent, high-energy and fun, this concert will feature the celestial visions of Ephemeral Objects.
Started in 2022 by musician/ composer John Korsrud, Absolute Unit has history of creating site-specific performances, starting with workshops at LanaLou's in Vancouver's DTES and more recently exploring the immersive acoustics of the Woodwards Atrium. This will be its second show at the Fox Cabaret.
Since 1992, the Hard Rubber New Music Society, founded by Korsrud, has grown to be one of Canada’s most active and unpredictable producers of new music. Recipient of the Alcan Arts Award, the Society released its fifth recording, the Juno-nominated Iguana in 2022. The Hard Rubber Orchestra has toured across Canada and to Europe and produced large multi-media events including Cantata for the King and the new music ice show, The Ice Age.

From a sanctuary of reunion to a site of sudden closure, a border park between the US and Canada becomes the stage where families, friends, and displaced souls navigate the tightening grip of political change, and the stark loss of one of the last shared spaces between the two nations. 
interplay_ has always been a festival that embraces experimentation, interdisciplinary thinking, and the edges of performance. This year, we are excited to expand the 13th edition of this festival with a special in-person event at The Cinematheque in Vancouver, where we will host the world premiere of THE BORDER.
The film’s exploration of borders and liminal spaces mirrors the spirit that drives interplay_: a commitment to questioning boundaries, reimagining what exists between them and reflecting on the divisions that shape, separate, and connect us.
THE BORDER is the newest feature film by Ying Wang, a multi-award winning filmmaker and co-founder of Cinevolution Media Arts Society. Her practice continues to influence contemporary conversations on migration, connection, and the shifting nature of global borders.
We look forward to welcoming audiences to this special screening of THE BORDER and to wrap this year’s festival through shared reflection and dialogue.About THE BORDER:On March 21, 2020, the governments of Canada and the United States closed their shared border to non-essential travel. What was framed as a temporary, 30-day emergency stretched into a two-year shutdown—the longest closure in the history of the world’s undefended border.
Amid this sweeping act of control, one sliver of land remained anomalously open: Peace Arch State Park. Perched at the threshold between British Columbia and Washington State on the Pacific coast, this tiny piece of soil became a loophole in the system. People from across the continent—and beyond—traveled to its grassy grounds to see loved ones they were otherwise forbidden to touch. 
Filmed from 2020 to 2024, THE BORDER traces the emotional and often absurd choreography of life in this temporary "free zone". Through fragments of longing, humor, and intimacy, the film reveals the strange contradictions of a place that was both open and closed, public and personal, symbolic and deeply real.
More than a document of a park or a pandemic, THE BORDER is a critical reflection on the fragility of freedom and the enduring tension between our desires to draw close and impulses to pull away.Ying Wang Bio: An award-winning filmmaker, Ying has traveled widely with her camera, creating films across Asia, North America, Europe, and South America. 
As a migrant navigating between cultures, Ying is drawn to stories that probe the complexities of humanity and question accepted narratives. 
Her critically acclaimed feature documentary The World is Bright, which examines immigration and mental health, has received multiple awards internationally, including the Sea to Sky Award at the Vancouver International Film Festival in 2019 and the Emerging Canadian Filmmaker Award at Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival in 2020. It was also nominated for two Canadian Screen Awards in 2021. THE BORDER (2025) is her latest feature, continuing her exploration of global borders, resilience, and human connection.
Her other notable works include Sisters (2005), a docu-drama interrogating gender politics and the notion of individual liberty; and Tricks on the Dead: The Story of Chinese Labour Corps in WWI, on which she served as co-producer and assistant director. This Canada-China-France co-production won two 2016 Canadian Screen Awards and the 2015 Vancouver International Film Festival Audience Must See Award. 
Alongside her work as a filmmaker, Ying is an active advocate for the arts. In 2007, she co-founded Cinevolution Media Arts Society, a grassroots, migrant-led organization presenting innovative works from Asian diaspora and artists across the Pan-Asian region. She also serves as a founding member and board director of RESO (Racial Equity Screen Office), advancing cross-territory collaboration in film production and distribution within today’s interconnected digital landscape.

Piano Jams launches a brand-new series at The Beaumont—an electrifying blend of dueling pianos, contemporary dance, improvisation, classical showmanship, and spontaneous musical chaos. Curated by host Gregg Schiller (a.k.a. “Mozart”), the evening brings together some of Vancouver’s most exciting pianists and performers across jazz, classical, RiverDance, bluegrass and contemporary rock/pop.  Gregg’s comedic Mozart persona guides the audience through each musical showdown with charm, wit, and theatrical flair.
The night is punctuated by dynamic performances from Paper Rabbits Contemporary Dancers, weaving movement through the live piano duels and amplifying the energy in the room. With its mix of classical, jazz, rock, and improvisation, this theatre-in-the-round experience is accessible, surprising, and completely unpredictable—a true “something for everyone” musical variety showcase.
