The Ball’s Falls Thanksgiving Festival has been a Niagara tradition since 1974! 
Gather your family and friends and head to Ball’s Falls Conservation Area this Thanksgiving – there is something for everyone!
Shop from over 150 vendors in the bustling craft and artisan market, treat yourself to delicious foods, sample some of the best local craft beers and wines, and listen to amazing live music on the main stage. For the kids, there is endless entertainment and fun – including free face-painting and crafts, magic shows, and live bird-of-prey shows presented by the Canadian Raptor Conservancy. 
The whole family will enjoy exploring the 1800's heritage village, featuring one of Ontario’s oldest operating gristmills, and heading out on a guided nature hike to take in the bright fall foliage and check out Niagara's Escarpment geology with the Niagara Geopark.

Seven national events, a coast-to-coast regular season and a full year of team pickleball come down to this weekend. Six teams remain. One will leave Northfield with the CNPL Championship.

Overview
New this season, here is how a CNPL championship weekend works. The top six teams from the 2026 regular season qualify for the playoffs. The top two seeds earn first-round byes. Every series is a best-of-three, and every match is decided by team play.
Three days, three rounds:

Wild Card Friday — Seed #3 vs. Seed #6 and Seed #4 vs. Seed #5, best-of-three, winners advance.
Semifinal Saturday — Seed #1 and Seed #2 enter, each facing a Friday survivor in a best-of-three series.
Championship Sunday — The two remaining teams meet for the CNPL Championship.

Within these teams are the heart and soul of our league: Canada's top professional pickleball players, alongside the international talent that has made the CNPL one of the most competitive team leagues in the sport. From seasoned veterans to rising stars, this is the deepest field the league has ever sent into a playoff weekend.

Five teams have already clinched their place in Waterloo:

London Smash (18–4) — the class of the 2026 regular season
Grand River Rapids (16–6) — playing on home soil in Waterloo Region
Toronto United Pickleball Club (16–6)
Montreal Lions (11–11) — the defending CNPL champions
Vancouver Owls (11–11)

The sixth and final playoff berth will be decided at the Season Finale in Burnaby, BC on August 29 & 30. Seeding for all six teams is confirmed once the Finale is complete.

A: Yes, the Milton Fairgrounds is wheelchair accessible! However, we are a fairground with many outside events and walkways are not paved.
 
Q: What is included with my gate admission?
A: Just about every attraction or activity is included in your gate admission. This includes Demolition Derbies, Truck and Tractor Pulls, Live Bands, Performers, Animal displays and shows, Livestock and Homecraft Exhibits and much more. Some activities are not included and must be paid to the provider.

In 2026, Reawakening returns with an engaging evening rich in sound, song, stories and community, featuring a three-part experience suitable for all generations.
The evening will begin with a community circle, where guests will be introduced to our hosts and the lands they will be learning on. From opening circle, guests will choose their path for part two of the evening, selecting between a 45-minute guided walk along the Sounds of the Forest Sonic Trail or an Every Child Matters beading workshop.
Sounds of the Forest Sonic Trail
Curated and produced in 2024 by Michele-Elise Burnett, Sounds of the Forest is an immersive journey through the living landscape of Ball’s Falls, where Indigenous story, song and teachings are woven into the water, forest and land itself.
Beginning in gratitude, guests are invited to slow down, listen and walk differently. Following Twenty Mile Creek and entering the coolness of the Carolinian Forest, they will hear the voices of Elders, Knowledge Keepers, singers and artists while encountering the many relations who share this place: moss-covered Grandfather Rocks, Tree Nations, native plants, birds, pollinators and the waters that continue to shape the land.
A gratitude prayer grounds the journey. Creation stories invite us to pause beneath the forest canopy. At the Upper Falls, we are reminded that Water is Life, before music and teachings carry us back through the trees and toward the fire.
The trail creates space to step away from the noise of everyday life and listen deeply enough to discover that when the voices become quiet, the land is still speaking. Guests can tune in to the sonic trail through their smart phone device and headset, or listen to the projected sounds, shared by experienced interpreters.
From the trail, the journey returns to the fire, where story and music continue in another form.
 
The Beading Workshop will take place around the fire, with facilitators guiding guests through a take-home beaded craft, weaving Indigenous teachings into tangible art.
 
Following the guided walk and workshop, guests will gather in circle under the stars, next to the Twenty Mile Creek, to hear Stories the Land Remembers. The telling of the Huron-Wendat Creation Story, memory, and classical violin by firelight with Geneviève Gros-Louis. 
In the traditional circle of fire and story, Geneviève will share the Huron-Wendat Creation Story of Ya’ta’ Yätaentsic, Sky Woman, and the beginning of Turtle Island. From Creation, the story will move into the land beneath our feet and the waters beside us, sharing the Huron-Wendat story carried within the name of Lake Ontario, Ontari’io, and the enduring presence of the Huron-Wendat people, whose ancestors lived upon and travelled through these lands before displacement carried their communities elsewhere.
But this will not be storytelling in the way many of us expect, Geneviève’s violin becomes part of the story itself. Original compositions are woven between spoken words, memory and Creation, allowing the voice of the classical violin to rise from the firelight and carry the story in another form. At times gentle. At times powerful. At times holding what words alone cannot.
There is something extraordinary in that meeting, an ancient way of gathering around the fire, a classical instrument more often associated with the concert hall.
Huron-Wendat story, memory and contemporary composition coming together in one living experience. Not two worlds competing with one another, but two ways of expression meeting in relationship. Through story and music, Geneviève reminds us that Indigenous culture is not something held only in the past. It continues to move, adapt, create and speak across generations.
Around the fire, story and music will remind us that these lands still remember, and that when we listen deeply enough, the old stories continue to find their way home.
 Reawakening will offer an opportunity to reflect on Indigenous stories, songs, and histories, allowing us to consider the future and next seven generations, and the legacies that bind us to the Natural World, reminding us of the responsibilities and gifts we share.
 
About Geneviève Gros-Louis: 
Geneviève Gros-Louis is a Los Angeles–based composer, producer, and violinist from the Huron-Wendat Nation whose work bridges Indigenous tradition and contemporary sound. CBC spotlighted her as “the Wendat violinist weaving her culture into music for the masses,” a mission that runs through her work across film, television, concert halls, and stages worldwide. She has scored multiple seasons of National Geographic’s Emmy-winning Life Below Zero, Magnolia Pictures’ A Savage Art: The Life and Cartoons of Pat Oliphant (dir. Bill Banowsky), and the award-winning short film Courage (dir. Eric Michael Hernandez). Her recent film and television credits include OPB’s Guardian of the Land (dir. LaRonn Katchia) and Reclaim My Skin (dir. Marie Clements), Hallmark, and her original music has been featured on AMC Networks’ Dark Winds.
In 2025, she recorded her debut orchestral album at Abbey Road Studios in London with members of the London Symphony Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for Audio Network, and premiered Ya’ta’ with Ensemble Urbain in Montréal, bringing the Wendat clay-creation story to life, including a custom wood-fired clay percussion instrument she helped create. A #GRAMMYsNextGen artist and member of the Recording and Television Academies, her collaborations include Nelly Furtado, John Densmore (The Doors), the Clooney Foundation for Justice, Dancing with the Stars, and Indigenous music icons Pura Fé (Ulali), Keith Secola, and Tony Duncan. Her music has been featured at Cannes Film Festival, Paris Fashion Week, Santa Fe Indian Market, and in museums and cultural showcases around the world.
At the heart of her work is storytelling through music, composing living narratives that carry memory, honour community, and connect audiences to the pulse of the people behind the story.

The south side of Chicago in the 1950's, 52nd street in its' heyday, or the West Coast of the 1970's. In other words, she is a genuine 21 st century artist. Ben Waters is one of Britain's most celebrated boogie-woogie and rock & roll pianists. A lifetime on stage has taken him from small blues clubs to sold-out international venues, sharing stages with legends including Charlie Watts, The Rolling Stones and many more. Joining Ben is his son, Tom Waters, a London-based rising star in the world of rhythm & blues, jazz, funk, blues and Latin music. Prodigiously talented, Tom Waters has travelled the world from pre-teenage years playing with his father. His early years included tours of Japan (Tokyo’s Glee Club with Keito Siato) and the Antipodes (with Tim Ries, Bernard Fowler and Chris Jagger). 
Since then, Tom has graduated from London’s Royal Academy of Music and established himself in the UK music scene, playing and/or recording with luminaries such as The Rolling Stones, Jeff Beck, George Thorogood, Ray Davies and the B.B. King All Stars. He is also a regular with Jools Holland’s R&B Orchestra. Monday September 14.

“Mysticssippi” bluesman Harry Manx has been called an “essential link” between the music of East and West, creating musical short stories that wed the tradition of the blues with the depth of classical Indian ragas. He has created a unique sound that is hard to forget and deliciously addictive.
Harry forged his distinctive style by studying at the feet of the masters, first as a sound man in the blues clubs of Toronto during his formative years, and then under a rigorous tutelage with Vishwa Mohan Bhatt in India. Bhatt is the inventor of the 20-stringed Mohan Veena, which has become Harry’s signature instrument.
Harry played slide guitar for many years before meeting Bhatt in Rajasthan. He started at the beginning under Bhatt’s tutelage, unlearning most of what he knew about playing a slide instrument. He learned Eastern scales and eventually ragas, deceptively complex and regimented musical patterns that form the basis of Indian composition. Learning the voicings of Indian music is a subtle art that comes with time. Harry spent most of twelve years in India learning that. It was later that Harry decided to explore the connection between Indian ragas and blues scales which eventually led to the Indo-blues hybrid that has become his style. Saturday September 19.
Joining Harry will be Clayton Doley from Australia on Hammond organ, Kevin Breit on guitar and Steve Marriner on bass and harmonica. They will be playing songs from Harry's new release Falling Upwards.

Elissa Mielke is a Canadian singer/songwriter and composer from the forests of Dundas, Ontario. A stunning live performer and multi-instrumentalist, her most recent release followed acclaim from Pitchfork who called her voice “oceanic.. an immense ocean of an instrument, as complex in its sweetness as raw honey,” and Rolling Stone, who praised her skilled songwriting and "richly textured voice that can evoke love, heartbreak, and nostalgia." Her secular hymns evoke great storytellers like Emmylou Harris, Lucinda Williams, and Carole King. She'll be playing some very special new songs from an upcoming release in 2026--so you'll be hearing them here first!

Daeyong Lim is a jazz vocalist, bandleader and arranger born in South Korea. His baritone voice explores a wide range of dynamics and emotions through songs. Drawing inspirations from Louis Armstrong’s joy, Count Basie’s swing to Marvin Gaye’s soul and the spirit of Korean Folk Singing, he released The Echoes of Silence EP to share his immigrant experience through his interpretation of the Great American Songbook repertoire.
He studied music at Humber Polytechnic in Toronto where he was exposed to a wide range of music and mentored by figures such as Jocelyn Gould, Alex Dean, Christine Duncan, Shelly Burger and Hilario Duran. To further his study in the American art form, he attended Tribeca Jazz Institute in New York and was closely coached by the jazz giants of today such as Chris Byars, Ari Roland, Michael Kanaan, Benny Benack III, Greg Ruggiero and Lucy Yeghiazharyan.
On September 15th, Daeyong will bring his swingin' ensemble to showcase some of his original arrangements with his favourite people. Join us for the good vibes!

Three-time Latin Grammy nominee Jovino Santos Neto, a master pianist, composer and arranger, is one of the most important Brazilian musicians working today. Currently based in Seattle, Washington, he has throughout his career been closely affiliated with the Brazilian master Hermeto Pascoal. He was an integral part of Pascoal's group from 1977 to1992 where he fine-tuned his artistry, performing around the world and co-producing several legendary records. Pascoal, who passed away last year at age 89, was described by the Guardian as a "brilliant multi-instrumentalist and composer who beguiled the world with fusions of north-Brazilian rural music, jazz and contemporary-classical forms, and mimicry of all manner of forest and city sounds. If ever a contemporary musician deserved to be called a force of nature, it was Pascoal."
Jovino’s personal style is a creative blend of energetic grooves, deep harmonies, telepathic improvisation, lyrical melodies and great ensemble playing, always inspired and informed by the colorful richness of Brazilian music. His compositions include samba, choro, baião, xote, forró, marcha and many more styles, rooted in centuries-old musical tradition while pointing to new and adventurous harmonic languages. Jovino currently leads his Seattle-based Quinteto and Trio. He taught piano and composition at Cornish College of the Arts for 26 years. He can also be heard around the world as a piano soloist, working with symphony orchestras, jazz big bands, chamber music groups, and in collaboration with musicians such as his mentor Hermeto Pascoal, Bill Frisell, Paquito d’Rivera, Airto Moreira, Claudio Roditi, David Sanchez, Joe Locke, Anat Cohen and many more.
This unique concert will pay tribute to Hermeto and Jovino's music, with Mark Kelso (drums), Roberto Occhipinti (bass), Michael Occhipinti (guitar), and Christine Jensen (woodwinds). Thursday September 17.

Join us for a fascinating evening with archaeologist Elizabeth Greene, whose extensive research at Vindolanda has helped reshape our understanding of life on the edge of the Roman Empire.
Drawing on her firsthand excavation experience, Greene will take us behind the scenes of the dig: what it feels like to carefully unearth history layer by layer, the challenges of working in the soil of northern England, and the thrill of discovering objects that have not been touched in nearly two millennia.
Located just south of Hadrian’s Wall, Vindolanda is one of Britain’s most extraordinary Roman sites, famed for its remarkably preserved artifacts—including leather shoes, writing tablets, and everyday objects that offer intimate glimpses into ancient lives. ABOUT ELIZABETH GREENE:
 Dr. Elizabeth Greene is Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Roman Archaeology at the University of Western Ontario in Canada. She has excavated at the site of Vindolanda and researched aspects of the museum collection since 2002, and is currently working on an extended research project on the Roman shoes and leather objects from the site.

New York-based rock band Platinum Moon (AvA Anduze, Anton, Joseph Klettner, Ethan Grossman) is known for their dynamic sound and energetic live performances, merging the raw grit of classic rock 'n' roll with danceable, catchy hooks of modern popular rock. Brian Dickinson has been a fixture on the Canadian jazz scene for over thirty-five years. He has performed internationally with artists including Lee Konitz, Jerry Bergonzi,  Michael and Randy Brecker, Pat LaBarbera, Kirk MacDonald, Kenny Wheeler and John Abercrombie. He is a multiple JUNO award winner. As a sideman, he has played on over eighty recordings. For the past two years, he has been an active member of the Canadian Jazz Collective, touring and recording in Europe and North America.
The Penderecki String Quartet, approaching the third decade of an extraordinary career, has become one of the most celebrated chamber ensembles of their generation. These four musicians from Poland, Canada and the USA bring their varied yet collective experience to create performances that demonstrate their “remarkable range of technical excellence and emotional sweep” (Globe and Mail). Their recent schedule has included concerts in New York (Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall), Amsterdam (Concertgebouw), Los Angeles (REDCAT at Disney Hall), St. Petersburg, Paris, Prague, Berlin, Rome, Belgrade, Zagreb, and Atlanta, as well as appearances at international festivals in Poland, Lithuania, Italy, Venezuela, Brazil and China. Thursday September 17: Jovino Santos Netos, three-time Latin Grammy nominee, is a master pianist, composer and arranger. Throughout his career he has been closely affiliated with the Brazilian master Hermeto Pascoal. He was an integral part of Pascoal's group from 1977 to1992. This unique concert will pay tribute to Hermeto and Jovino's music.

Friday October 2: Now celebrating its 46th year, the 16-piece Jim Galloway’s Wee Big Band proudly makes its first appearance at Hugh’s Room under the leadership and musical direction of early band member Brigham Phillips on piano. Formed in 1979 as a repertory band specializing in the music of the great bands of the swing era, Jim Galloway's Wee Big Band has over 400 arrangements, which is perhaps the most extensive repertoire of any big band in the country.

The THEYHEARD folks are trying to start new rumours, but fortunately, we’ve got a lot of witnesses. Bootycandy shows us a young man’s experience of power, permissibility, and privilege from the childhood dinner table to the playwrights’ circle to the dark disarray of a stranger’s hotel room. Robert O’Hara’s meta-theatrical, semi-autobiographical dark comedy fleshes out an intricate embodiment of Black queer life.
