CCMA winners, and beloved Canadian country superstars George Canyon and Aaron Pritchett unite for their coast to coast Cowboy Christmas tour. With countless accolades between them, and over 25 years of hits, the pair will come together to treat fans to some of their own chart topping songs, as well as some all-time favorite Christmas classics. Truly a show not to be missed, in celebration of the Holiday season.
 
GEORGE CANYON  
 
George Canyon rose to becoming one of Canada’s hottest Country Music stars in the early 2000’s and has won countless accolades and awards, including Juno Awards, CCMA Awards, and ECMA Awards to name a few. He has been inducted into the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame, recorded 12 albums, and was presented a certified Platinum Award for his debut album ‘One Good Friend’. With country iconic hits like Just Like You, I Believe in Angels, Drinkin’ Thinkin’, Daughters of the Sun, I Got This, I Want You To Live, Slow Dance and many, many more, he is also a highly regarded humanitarian, strong supporter of the military, and, most important, a proud father and devoted husband. 
 
Canyon’s tireless work as spokesperson for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and his ongoing support for Canada’s Armed Forces has earned him much National and International recognition. Among them, he was honored with the Humanitarian Award by the Canadian Country Music Association, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal, and was also made the first ever Colonel Commandant of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets by the Honourable Peter MacKay, former Minister of National Defense.
 
Outside of his music and charitable work, many people might also recognize George for his numerous roles on the big screen. From Charlie Wells in the hit television show Heartland and the head forest ranger in Trailer Park Boys, to Bull Shelton in the Hallmark Channel’s highest-rated original Christmas movie “One Starry Christmas”. George also guest starred on stage in the musical production of Grease in 2018 at the Winter Garden Theatre in Toronto.
 
Among his many identities, Canyon is also a proud Canadian and huge hockey fan, and roots for his team, the Calgary Flames, for which he is in his sixth season singing the national anthem during the home games.
 
George released his new memoir on November 8th, 2022 with Simon & Schuster Canada, titled ‘My Country’ - a heartfelt and candid memoir charting his humble beginnings in rural Nova Scotia, the hard-won success he found under the bright lights of Nashville, Tennessee, and the life lessons learned on and off the road that ultimately led him home.

He’s has been a household name in Canadian Country music for 20 years, but when Aaron Pritchett hits the stage, he does so with the energy and intensity of an artist fresh on the scene. Yet despite being known for his dynamic, even raucous, live shows, it’s the classically country gentleman inside of Pritchett that’s made him a fan favourite - and staying force in Canadian country - for more than two decades.
 
With 13 Top Ten hits under hits under his belt [buckle], Pritchett has made a career of seamlessly moving from good ol’ boy anthems like “Hold My Beer” to pop-tinged party pleasers like “Worth a Shot” to heart-string pulling ballads like “Warm Safe Place”. He could have stopped when he had enough to fill a Greatest Hits album - which he did in 2015 - but instead he followed it up with several more including his 2019 #1 single, “Better When I Do”. Throughout it, Pritchett has racked up more than 30 Juno, CCMA, WCMA and BCCMA nominations including multiple wins for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and a CCMA SOCAN Songwriter of the Year award.
With his writing, Pritchett continues to push the boundaries of the country genre. And while he refuses to be pigeon-holed, staying grounded in his roots is one thing he insists on.
 
A philanthropist at heart, in 2022 he launched his Annual Big Wheel Charity Golf Classic. The event has raised more than $150,000 to date for community-minded charities.

What does it mean to be part of the in-crowd? In an imaginary letter to her absent older brother, Braidie struggles to understand news stories about the torture and murder of a local teenage girl and how the brutality she sees in the headlines is reflected in her own friend group. Revisiting memories, Braidie tracks her own complicity and participation in the bullying of one girl, and considers what it means to go too far. THE SHAPE OF A GIRL challenges audiences to interrogate their capacity to both help and harm others and to be brave when standing up for what is right.

After nearly two decades in the music industry, Don Amero finds himself following his heart rather than rebranding. Armed with new material, he's pushing the boundaries of country music by blending Americana, country, soul, and pop. Amero now sees himself working in the service industry, aiming to make music with a purpose. His 2022 EP Nothing Is Meaningless earned a CCMA nomination, and he authored a children's book, These Roots of Love.
His ‘Through The Fire’ podcast, Indigenous advocacy, and mentorship also reflect this attitude of service. Amero plans to release a series of six-song EPs starting in 2025, focusing on personal stories and various sonic qualities to let his voice shine. Influenced by a range of genres, from country to hip-hop, Amero is determined to avoid repetition, embrace growth, and create music that feels like freedom, while balancing fatherhood and family life with his evolving artistic journey.

Each session will include time to work on your own project or follow a freefall writing prompt. For the regular attendees, optional prompts will be given to work on outside of each session.

Fran has worked an eclectic mix of jobs including youth worker, career counsellor, proposal writer, and a ten-year stint as VP for a career consulting firm. Her short stories have appeared in literary journals from coast to coast, and her plays have been produced for both theatre and radio. Fran has published two novels. The Shore Girl landed on the CBC Top 40-Book List and won the Alberta Reader’s Choice Award. No Good Asking, shortlisted for the 2019 Georges Bugnet and ReLit Awards, has been translated for international markets. Fran’s third novel, Cattail Lane, hit bookshelves in the spring of 2025.

Chris Funk’s REDEFINING WONDER is an engaging multimedia experience that has audiences talking and scratching their heads for years to come. Finally, a MAGIC SHOW WITH LIVE MUSIC! Chris has pioneered the use of instruments like the violin, guitar, sax and more into his illusions. His parents wanted him to be a musician, but he wanted to be a magician. Chris tells his story on how he integrated his love for music and magic in a show unlike any other. Whether it’s a violin concerto to a magical dancing sheet of music to impossibly suspending various instruments on stage, his show is in a league of its own. The live-feed camera and interactive videos bring audiences up onstage and into the action, delivering a show that family audiences can call their own.

Divas Live!

This four week class will take participants through basic design theories, composition and lighting scenarios along with some technical basics to develop and strengthen foundational skills that will take them beyond point and shoot photography to creating thoughtful and poignant images.
Each week will see a lesson and discussion with an assignment to work on outside of class. Weekly assignments will be shared and critiqued in the final session. Suitable for all skill levels and camera types but for ease of use, digital photography is recommended.
 
Instructor Bio:
Ali developed a love of photography after receiving her first Kodak 110 camera as a child. Shooting countless rolls of film as a kid and young adult amplified her love of photography leading her to eventually pursue photography education. After years of researching and dreaming of different photography programs across Canada, Ali signed up for a six-week Continuing Education class at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.  After one particularly inspiring class, Ali left inspired to pursue a higher education in the medium.
After applying to the Alberta College of Art & Design, now Alberta University of the Arts and completing her first year studies, Ali was accepted into the three-year Photography program. Since graduating from AUArts in 2013 with a Bachelor of Design (Photography) life eventually led her away from working in the photography industry but she has kept her camera close at hand and the lessons learned are ingrained in all she does.

Zachary Stevenson's Tribute to Buddy Holly
From the Internationally Acclaimed "Buddy Holly Story", Zachary Stevenson performs an exciting Tribute to Buddy Holly LIVE in concert.
One of the first Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame inductees, Buddy Holly, wrote and performed countless hit songs during the mid-1950s such as: That'll Be The Day, Peggy Sue, Maybe Baby, Oh Boy, and many more. Despite a career that spanned only 9 years, Buddy Holly's music has been a major influence on later popular music artists, including Bob Dylan, the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, and Elton John. 
As an accomplished actor and musician, Zachary, has played the starring role as Buddy Holly in over twelve different theatrical productions of the "Buddy Holly  Story" across North America. with his own unique performing style, humour and an impressive repitoire of knowledge about Buddy, Zachary will leave you captivated and entertained throughout the entire performance. This show will be backed by the Rockin' Royals Band.

The Music of The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit & The Rings of Power in Concert with a special guest from the films, a symphonic orchestra and the Oscar-winning music of Ed Sheeran, Howard Shore, Annie Lennox, Enya, and more great composers.
  The musical world of hobbits and elves from J.R.R. Tolkien’s “Lord of The Rings”, “The Hobbit” and “The Rings of Power” will be performed in a unique concert by a film orchestra, choir, and star soloists. The two-hour performance features an original a guest star and the greatest music from the films, in an acoustic experience ranging from the threatening music of Mordor and the shrill sounds of the black riders to the beautiful lyrical melodies of the elves.

Berlin / Los Angeles – “The Music of Hans Zimmer & Others” is an unforgettable concert and audiovisual experience for all age groups, film enthusiasts, music lovers, and families. The best music will be performed by the Hollywood Film Orchestra in an impressive show with light installations, laser projections, and selected film clips. Star soloists from the Original Broadway Production will perform excerpts from “The Lion King”, Zimmer’s most beloved box office smash hit. 
 No other composer has influenced the film world in the past two decades as much as the Oscar-, Globe- and Emmy-winning composer Hans Zimmer with his staggering compositions for films such as “James Bond”, “The Lion King”, “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Gladiator”, “The Dark Knight”, “Man of Steel”, “Inception”, and “Interstellar”. 
 Hans Zimmer wrote the film scores of more than 200 movies, won his second Oscar for "Dune" (2022), following his first Academy Award for "The Lion King" (1994). He named Ennio Morricone as his idol and role-model, whose work will be featured with excerpts from the films “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” and “Once Upon a Time in the West”. Zimmer followed Morricone’s example of composing the film music often before – instead of after – filming, and shaped the entire film. He changed the beginning of Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator” for example, and the world-famous director moved into the studio of Hans Zimmer.

Set in 1843, London, England, old Scrooge’s transformation from a lonely, selfish and money-grubbing miser to a generous and compassionate man is a timeless story that resonates with audiences of every generation. The very popular Christmas story by Charles Dickens, has been wonderfully adapted for the stage by Bridget Ryan. Filled with Christmas carols, ghosts and remarkable characters this holiday favourite is sure to delight audiences aged 12+. Sylvan Lake Theatre’s Tanya Ryga has created a playful, pacy, musical and subtly cheeky spin on this must-see Christmas Classic. Music fans will easily recall these famous lyrics sung by the legendary John Lennon in the timeless Beatles’ hit ‘A Hard Day’s Night’, a worldwide chart-topping single for the Liverpool group back in 1964. The Beatles are the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed act in the history of popular music and according to Guinness World Records, their recordings have sold over one billion units. Originally formed in 1960, the group developed their musical skills and reputation through extensive live performances that culminated into riotous enthusiasm by screaming fans wherever they went, a phenomenon that became known as ‘Beatlemania!’.
 ‘Beatlemania Revisited’, an international touring show, recreates the look, sound and excitement of the fab four’s live performances. This unique musical and theatrical event features a combination of talented European and North American cast members in the roles of John, Paul, George and Ringo.
Beatlemania Revisited is a family oriented, audience-interactive performance that will have fans laughing, singing, dancing and clapping along throughout the show. Musically, the show features ‘note-for-note’ song recreations by the amazing cast who are further augmented with full costumes along with vintage instruments and equipment. Focusing mainly on The Beatles’ live performances, the show kicks off with their electrifying first appearance on the Ed Sullivan television show in February 1964, taking the audience through five years of the Beatles’ era concluding with their famous January 1969 ‘roof top’ concert. Along the way, Beatlemania Revisited takes in a total of 35 songs, including ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’, ‘Ticket to Ride’, ‘Yesterday’.  ‘Penny Lane, ‘Hey Jude’, ‘Something’, ‘Let It Be’ and many other timeless favourites.
