Description
This is a free, bi-weekly gathering for professionals and companies in Calgary’s tech and innovation ecosystem.
This series supports Calgary’s tech workforce advantage by connecting employer priorities with community learning, creating a cycle where events generate insights that inform future programming.
As part of this programming, there are bi-weekly events to showcase learnings in tech, roundtables among tech companies to identify key learning areas, and a report to share key findings.
This event is a collaboration among Calgary Economic Development, Careers in Technology and Innovation, Platform Calgary and the Government of Alberta's Labour Market Development Agreement (The Province of Alberta is working in partnership with the Government of Canada to provide employment support programs and services). As well as a collection of companies from Calgary’s Tech & Innovation Ecosystem.
Most organizations have moved past the question of whether to use AI. Nearly every team has experimented with it in some form.
The harder question is what comes next.
Some organizations have turned AI into a real operating advantage — faster delivery, better decisions, work that simply couldn't be done before. Others are still running pilots that never quite scale. The gap between those two groups isn't usually about the technology. It's about how the work is designed, how teams are structured, and how quickly organizations can turn a promising experiment into standard practice.
At the next Tech Talent Tuesdays, we're bringing together two Calgary technology leaders who have built and shipped at scale — one inside a major enterprise transformation, one across startups, scale-ups, and global platforms — to talk about what actually separates adoption from advantage.
What we'll explore:
🔹 What distinguishes organizations getting real returns from AI from those still experimenting
🔹 How AI is reshaping knowledge work and blurring the line between business and technology roles
🔹 What it takes to move from pilot project to durable operating advantage
🔹 How teams, roles, and delivery models need to change to keep up
You'll hear from:
🔹 Matthew Buhler, Data Engineer, TC Energy
Matthew works on data engineering and integrations for TC Energy's core ERP transformation, with a background spanning software engineering, startups, and enterprise data. He holds an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Calgary. He's interested in how AI is changing knowledge work — and how the line between business and technology roles is disappearing.
🔹 Minaoar Tanzil, Software Development Manager, Krux Analytics
Minaoar is a technology leader with nearly 20 years of global experience across software, business, and team leadership. He currently leads software development at Krux Analytics and previously led a 150-person FinTech organization, building a banking platform processing over $2 billion monthly and serving 100 million people across Asia.
Whether you're a founder, executive, manager, or professional thinking about how AI will reshape your organization, you'll leave with practical ideas for turning adoption into something that actually moves the business.
