For the last thirty two years, THE PEKING ACROBATS® have redefined audience perceptions of Chinese acrobatics. They perform daring maneuvers atop a precarious pagoda of chairs and display their technical prowess at such arts as trick-cycling, precision tumbling, juggling, somersaulting, and gymnastics. They push the limits of human ability, defying gravity with amazing displays of contortion, flexibility, and control. THE PEKING ACROBATS are often accompanied by live musicians who skillfully play traditional Chinese instruments; the time-honored Chinese music coalesces with high-tech special effects and awe-inspiring acrobatic feats, creating an exuberant entertainment event with the festive pageantry of a Chinese Carnival.
Since their founding in 1986, THE PEKING ACROBATS have been featured on numerous television shows and celebrity-studded TV specials. These include Nickelodeon’s Unfabulous, Ellen’s Really Big Show (hosted by Ellen DeGeneres), The Wayne Brady Show, That’s Incredible, ABC's Wide World of Sports, and NBC's Ring In The New Year Holiday Special. They have also appeared on HDNet TV's In Focusseries, and have appeared regularly in 3D on NBC/Comcast's new 3D Channel. THE PEKING ACROBATS set the world record for the Human Chair Stack on FOX Network's Guinness Book Primetime television show in 1999: they balanced six people precariously atop six chairs twenty one feet up in the air without safety lines, astounding audiences with their bravery and dexterity. THE PEKING ACROBATS have also made their way onto the silver screen – company members were featured in Steven Soderbergh's hit film Ocean's Eleven playing alongside Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt and George Clooney. PEKING ACROBATS' alumnus Shaobo Qin also appeared in that film's two sequels, Ocean's Twelve and Ocean's Thirteen.
THE PEKING ACROBATS achieved another milestone in the fall of 2003, when they made their orchestral debut at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA. They performed as part of the Hollywood Bowl’s Fireworks Season Finale, where the company blended their unique brand of acrobatics with the majestic sound of the 100-piece Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, conducted by John Mauceri. Since their Hollywood Bowl debut, THE PEKING ACROBATS have performed with many of the most prestigious Symphony Orchestras in North America today. These include the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra; the Ravinia Festival Orchestra, featuring members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra; the San Diego Symphony Orchestra; the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra; the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra; and the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. THE PEKING ACROBATS return often to the Hollywood Bowl, where they perform with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra as Special Guest Artists.

In February of 2005, THE PEKING ACROBATS premiered in Italy on a five-week, twelve-city tour. Their opening in Milan became a spectacular media event that was covered nationally by the Italian press. Since their Italian debut, THE PEKING ACROBATS have performed in seven European countries on their six European Tours between 2005 and today.

Two time Manitoba Country Music Association Roots Duo/Group of the Year, Two Crows for Comfort, are a touring folk/Americana duo.  Known for their comedic storytelling and off-the-cuff stage banter, the duo promises a show full of positivity, laughter and even a singalong or two.  These wandering troubadours live on the road full-time in an 18 foot camper.  They've opened for the likes of Bruce Cockburn, Ani DiFranco, David Amram, and Pokey LaFarge. Amidst their relentless touring schedule they have written and recorded three full length albums, the most recent titled Next to Me. Harmony singing is key to roots-folk music and Two Crows have nailed that perfectly. What differentiates them within their genre are uniquely arranged original songs that allow their voices to blend and bend around the stories within their lyrics. This is acoustic folk music at its best. Cory’s light-hearted, funny, between-song banter makes the show even better.
 Dave McCann has firmly established himself as one of the best untold singer-songwriters working in contemporary roots music.  Soothsayer’s Blues, his latest album, is a communion with history and an exploration of the mythology of the American South. “Those first Blues artists offered more than just songs. They showed us a path. They showed us how to find joy in defiance of those who choose to darken our world.  Mississippi holds some real strong magic when it comes to that kinda song-lore. I went there chasing those ghosts. What I found was a spark. That’s the folk process…You don’t just play the songs, you carry them forward.” The songs are grounded in a timeless magic, steeped in the shadows of the human spirit and wrapped in echoes of the Blues, Country and Rock ‘n’ Roll. Roy Forbes is one of Canada’s best loved songwriters and performing artists. From his searing rendition of Hank Williams’ So Lonesome I Could Cry, to his sweet treat Christmas anthem- Mince Meat Tart, or Lifting My Heart, Roy has made his mark as a solo, band leader and songwriter. As host of Roy’s Record Room on CKUA, he’s a popular historian of 78 RPM records.  The last few years have been a challenge. Having dealt with poor vision all his life, Roy was blinded by an accident. As Roy began getting used to a life without sight, new songs began to emerge. Edge of Blue is 10 songs full of wisdom, confessions, vulnerability, self- reflection, and celebration. These are songs with memorable words, compelling compositions and a voice every bit as original as when the “kid full of dreams” first hit the big city over fifty years ago – pure Roy Forbes.
Mike Crampton writes songs that behave like good stories. They arrive funny, sneak up on something honest, and leave you thinking about a line long after the show is over. Based in Didsbury Alberta, Mike blends dry humour with sharp, observant songwriting about modern absurdities, awkward humanity, and the moments we don’t always say out loud. His debut album Death, Dying, and Other Hilarious Topics moves easily between wit and vulnerability, pairing laugh out loud songs with quieter, unexpected turns. A Mike Crampton show is more than just listening, it is shared. He’s earned nominations for the Americana Music Awards’ Instrumentalist of the Year and Best Acoustic Blues Artist. He has collaborated with Jerry Douglas and toured with Bruce Hornsby, Iron and Wine and others. Martin Harley explores roots, blues and slide guitar in a style The Guardian referred to as “Spellbinding”.  Harley has released eight albums to date, four recorded on home soil and four across the Atlantic in Texas and Nashville.  Recent nominations include AMA instrumentalist of the year and Best Acoustic Blues artist.  Known for his spellbinding slide guitar and ability to blend Americana, Blues, and Folk, Harley captivated audiences in appearances at Glastonbury and sold-out shows at the Royal Albert Hall highlighting his dynamic stage presence.  His latest release, the ambitious Morning Sun, showcases his finest songwriting to date.  Harley’s heartfelt music continues to push boundaries in contemporary roots.  He creates a down-to-earth sound that is both intimate and engaging.

There are bands, artists and songwriters that mimic and imitate but John Hewitt absorbs and reimagines. John has produced 9 full length studio albums and a book since March of 2020.  Taking inspiration from the honest tradition of true folk music you’ll hear old tales of prairie murder, historical stories marinated with poetic imagery reminiscent of the songwriters of the 60’s folk revival.  John’s latest releases, Which Side Are you On?, a solo folk record, and Chaos & Conversation, a double Band album to be released in May ’26.  With his backing group the New Americans, Edmonton virtuosos Benjamin Williams and Connor Miskiman, melodic hooks are doused in sweeping three part harmony. The band in full form ranges from soft folk to blues rock.  John Hewitt is a master, a choreographer of sound, a man of many hats all worn with style with a dream bigger than the world around him.
The Three Sisters are a joyful Bow Valley trio of singer-songwriters and multi-instrumentalists. Names after the iconic local mountain range, and deeply inspired by the landscapes around them, rich harmonies form the bedrock for this trio as they traverse folk, jazz, opera, and original music. Since their inception in 2024, the trio has delighted audiences at artsPlace Canmore, the Canmore Folk Music Festival, Dunn Folkin’ Around, and recently completed their first Western Canadian tour. Their members include YYC’s 2025 Emerging Artist and Banff’s Poet Laureate. Their set is melodically spellbinding and makes you pause, breathe deeper, and feel it all.

John Reischman and the Jaybirds fashion a stylish take on bluegrass that seamlessly blends original songs and instrumentals with Appalachian old-time music.  John Reischman on mandolin has seen many of his original instrumentals become popular favourites for sessions and covers.  The Jaybirds are guitarist Patrick Sauber, who has played with Doc Watson, John Jorgensen, Peter Rowan, Tim O’Brien and John Fogerty.  Singer Trisha Gagnon, is portrayed by Sing Out! as “one of the most versatile” and “irresistible” lead vocalists in bluegrass.  Nick Hornbuckle has developed his own voice on the five-string banjo. His solo album 12×2 (+/-1), was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award for Solo Instrumental Album of the Year.  Greg Spatz is hailed as a “world-class bluegrass fiddler” by Fiddler Magazine. Now in their 20th year, with seven acclaimed albums and two Juno nominations, the Jaybirds are simultaneously innovative and unadorned, sophisticated and stripped-down, happily old-fashioned and 21st-century contemporary.

Maggie’s Wake is a dynamic and refreshing band that blends the timeless roots of traditional folk with the energy of jazz, Americana, and classic country. Drawing on their heritage while forging new ground, their sound is both deeply rooted and wholly original. Creating a harmony-rich interplay that is the band’s signature is songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tara Dunphy whose soulful lead vocals and mastery of tin whistle, flute, and fiddle shines through every performance.  Lindsay Schindler, is an internationally recognized fiddler and composer whose artistry is known for entrancing audiences. Rounding out the lineup is Andrew Kosty on upright and electric bass, and Ken Palmer on acoustic and electric guitar. Their 2024 self-titled debut album, Maggie’s Wake earned a 2025 Canadian Folk Music Award for Best New/Emerging Artist.  With their passion, precision, and originality, Maggie’s Wake continues to carve out an inspiring space in the contemporary folk music landscape.

Bad ideas, VCR’s, crumbling factories, hairy dogs, questionable tattoos…all are fair game for funeral director-turned singer-songwriter and 2025 Music Nova Scotia Entertainer of the Year, Terra Spenser.  As a fun-loving and fearless solo performer, Terra has played some of Canada’s most renowned festival stages, including the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival, where her Maritime waltz Lunenburg Moon has become an unofficial anthem.  Terra’s fourth album Sunset, was named the 2024 Penguin Eggs Roots Music Canada Critics’ Choice Album of the Year (alongside Julian Taylor’s Pathways).  Named Music Nova Scotia Folk/Roots Recording of the Year, Sunset earned her ECMA and Canadian Folk Music Award nominations for Solo Artist and English Songwriter of the Year.  Although her butterscotch voice, deft finger style guitar and gospel-charged piano make her a formidable musician, it’s her onstage ease, spirited spontaneity, and crackling East Coast wit that make each show feel like a knee-to-knee conversation.
