The Ballet Folklórico is a thirty-two member organization comprised of students who are pursing degrees in a variety of disciplines. The Ballet presents student and public concerts annually and travels to present programs for local, state, national, and international private and public affairs. The Ballet has jointly produced ballets, concerts, zarzuelas, and musicals with the Valley Symphony Orchestra, the UTRGV Theatre, and the UTRGV Music Department. 
Parking is complimentary after 5pm.

El Ballet Folklórico es una organización de treinta y dos miembros compuesta por estudiantes que están cursando estudios en una variedad de disciplinas. El Ballet presenta conciertos estudiantiles y públicos anualmente y viaja para presentar programas para asuntos privados y públicos locales, estatales, nacionales e internacionales. El Ballet ha producido conjuntamente ballets, conciertos, zarzuelas y musicales con la Orquesta Sinfónica del Valle, el Teatro UTRGV y el Departamento de Música de UTRGV.

Dance: Dance Ensemble Concert


Featuring interdisciplinary collaboration and live music, ECOSYSTEM |entwined| is an original work of dance created by UTRGV Assistant Professor of Dance, Gina Laurenzi. In this production, the choreographer brings together a Midwest composer, local artists, and guest dancers to create a thought-provoking & dynamic new work of contemporary dance to share with the community of the Rio Grande Valley. ECOSYSTEM |entwined| explores ecological themes and the human impact on environments through a crafted choreographic ecosystem. Through movement, sound, and visual art, the audience is immersed within a world, and witness to a changing landscape. The choreographer's work comes to life with original compositions performed by musician collaborator Allen Russell (Milwaukee, WI) on violin and electronics. The concert is constructed around set pieces by visual artist, and UTRGV Assistant Professor of Sculpture, Timothy Gonchoroff (Edinburg, TX). The sculptures are manipulated and swept into motion throughout the performance by an intergenerational cast of both local dancers and visiting performers of the Midwest.

Ouroboros” Re-Imagining Mexican Dance: Dance traditions allow us to connect and evolve, blending the past and present. "Ouroboros" by Peña explores contemporary trends in Mexican folk dance, merging styles like Mexican folk, tap, flamenco, and modern dance. This production highlights the transformation and hybridity in modern Mexican folk dance, symbolizing continual renewal. Peña honors traditional practices while envisioning new future approaches.
