Description

Welcome to 2026 Tech Talent Tuesdays: Calgary Workforce Advantage Edition

This is a free, bi-weekly gathering for professionals and companies in Calgary’s tech and innovation ecosystem.

This series supports Calgary’s tech workforce advantage by connecting employer priorities with community learning, creating a cycle where events generate insights that inform future programming.

As part of this programming, there are bi-weekly events to showcase learnings in tech, roundtables among tech companies to identify key learning areas,  and a report to share key findings.

This event is a collaboration among Calgary Economic Development, Careers in Technology and Innovation, Platform Calgary and the Government of Alberta's Labour Market Development Agreement (The Province of Alberta is working in partnership with the Government of Canada to provide employment support programs and services). As well as a collection of companies from Calgary’s Tech & Innovation Ecosystem.

September 1 - Reverse Roundtable: The Professional Perspective

Employers have shared how AI is changing roles, skills, hiring, and expectations in the workplace.

Now we want to hear from professionals.

At the next Tech Talent Tuesdays, we’re flipping the roundtable. This session will give Calgary’s tech professionals an opportunity to share their perspective on how work is changing, what they need from employers, and what organizations should understand as they adapt to an AI-enabled environment.

The feedback and insights from this session will be shared back with employers through our industry roundtable series and workforce insights work.

What we’ll explore:
🔹 How AI is changing day-to-day work and career expectations
🔹 What skills professionals believe will matter most in an AI-enabled workplace
🔹 Where professionals feel prepared and where they need more support
🔹 What effective AI adoption looks like from the employee perspective
🔹 What professionals need from leaders, managers, and organizations
🔹 What employers may be missing as they redesign roles, teams, and workflows

The conversation will be facilitated by:

🔹 Zachary Novak, Founder & CEO, Careers in Technology and Innovation (CITI)

Zachary is the Founder and CEO of CITI, a organization focused on helping technology professionals build meaningful careers and connections. His background spans investment banking, product management, technology, entrepreneurship, and community building. Through CITI and Tech Talent Tuesdays, he has worked closely with both professionals and employers to better understand how Calgary’s technology workforce is evolving.

🔹 Cat Seier, Connection Edge

Cat is a facilitator and community builder who creates spaces for meaningful conversations and connections. Through Connection Edge and her work with Tech Talent Tuesdays, she brings professionals together to share experiences, surface common challenges, and turn individual perspectives into useful insights for the broader community.

This will be an interactive session focused on discussion, feedback, and shared perspectives.

Whether you’re early in your career, an experienced professional, or a people leader, this is an opportunity to help shape the conversation and ensure the professional perspective is represented in how Calgary employers think about the future of work.
