 Unleash your creativity and curiosity in our Introductory Taxidermy Class! Designed for beginners, this hands-on course offers a fascinating glimpse into the art and science of taxidermy.
Class begins promptly at 10am and ends at 4pm.
We provide each student with either a skinned, cleaned, and tanned racoon, opossum, or rat hide depending on the workshop you are taking.
The first half of class is focused on preparing your form, setting the eyes, test fitting and mounting the hide, as well as grooming.
After our first 30-minute break class shifts towards plaque preparation and mounting your project.
The class runs for approximately 6 hours with two 30-minute breaks throughout the day.

Sunset Moths Entomology Class $150USD Unlock the artistry of entomology in our Introductory Bug Pinning Workshop! This hands-on experience is perfect for nature enthusiasts, aspiring entomologists, or anyone interested in the intricate craft of insect preservation. Join us as we guide you through the techniques of preparing and pining insects, transforming them into beautiful, display-ready specimens.
The AM class will begin promptly at 10am and last 2.5 hours.
You will learn the foundational skills of bug pinning, including safe collection methods, proper handling, and the step-by-step process of pinning and mounting your specimen.
Class exclusive!: Two specimens for the price of one!
Your first specimen will be a moth or butterfly that will be used to practice your newly learned pinning technique. Once you’ve completed this step we will move on to creating your unique frame and placing your Sunset Moth in its display case.
We will familiarize you with the tools of the trade, pinning supplies, insect boxes, and preservation techniques. We’ll provide all necessary materials for your workshop experience. Micaela Rae is a singer-songwriter based out of Whitby, ON. Writing at the intersection of folk, jazz, and poetry, Rae’s songs unfold with raw conviction - rooted in melody, and driven by lyrics that pay close attention to language, silence, and emotional nuance, as she honours the complex relationships between friends, lovers, and family.In May of 2025, she released her debut EP Saccharine, consisting of 4 original compositions, and one intimately arranged jazz standard featuring her unique guitar playing. Saccharine was included on All About Jazz’s “Best of Canadian Jazz” list for 2025Nick Posthumus is a window washer from Toronto. He plays with his band, The Soft Maybes, whenever they are available.

Come bust a move at Burdock Music Hall as you’re serenaded by a concoction of jazz fusion and alt pop on Friday, July 24. A true double bill.Jacob Soucy is a Vancouver-born trumpeter, songwriter, and producer based in Toronto. He released his debut instrumental album, Vision Is Essential, in the summer of 2024. Soucy was surrounded by music from an early age, recording in the studio at age four and later picking up the trumpet and drums at ten. He eventually moved to Toronto to pursue his studies and career in music, obtaining a Bachelor of Music degree from Humber Polytechnic.“Icebreaker,” the lead single from Vision Is Essential, was added to Exclaim!’s “The Eh! List” playlist alongside fellow Canadian artists including Nelly Furtado, BADBADNOTGOOD, Marianas Trench, and daysormay. In addition to working as a freelance trumpeter and music teacher, Soucy continues to perform in Toronto while developing his second album.Jacob Soucy: Website | Spotify | InstagramEmmett Hodgins is a Victoria-born pianist and composer proficient in classical, jazz, R&B, and folk music. In high school he completed his RCM 10 and taught at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. Hodgins then moved to Toronto to pursue a Bachelor of Music at Humber Polytechnic, graduating with honours in 2023. Now a staple in the Toronto and Victoria music scenes, Hodgins leads his own projects, namely: The Emmett Hodgins Trio and Emmett Hodgins & The Coast Group. In the last two years, Emmett has released albums with both bands, respectively titled “Bibliosmia” and “Idyllic”.The Coast Group is a Toronto-based contemporary jazz fusion group consisting of members from across Canada. Now in their fourth year as a band, they continue to create new and exciting original music inspired by the west coast. They combine ambient, classical, contemporary jazz, jazz fusion, funk, pop, and free jazz into the sound they represent. The Coast Group has performed at Victoria Jazz Festival and T.U.
