 Unleash your creativity and curiosity in our Introductory Taxidermy Class! Designed for beginners, this hands-on course offers a fascinating glimpse into the art and science of taxidermy.
Class begins promptly at 10am and ends at 4pm.
We provide each student with either a skinned, cleaned, and tanned racoon, opossum, or rat hide depending on the workshop you are taking.
The first half of class is focused on preparing your form, setting the eyes, test fitting and mounting the hide, as well as grooming.
After our first 30-minute break class shifts towards plaque preparation and mounting your project.
The class runs for approximately 6 hours with two 30-minute breaks throughout the day.

Sunset Moths Entomology Class $150USD Unlock the artistry of entomology in our Introductory Bug Pinning Workshop! This hands-on experience is perfect for nature enthusiasts, aspiring entomologists, or anyone interested in the intricate craft of insect preservation. Join us as we guide you through the techniques of preparing and pining insects, transforming them into beautiful, display-ready specimens.
The AM class will begin promptly at 10am and last 2.5 hours.
You will learn the foundational skills of bug pinning, including safe collection methods, proper handling, and the step-by-step process of pinning and mounting your specimen.
Class exclusive!: Two specimens for the price of one!
Your first specimen will be a moth or butterfly that will be used to practice your newly learned pinning technique. Once you’ve completed this step we will move on to creating your unique frame and placing your Sunset Moth in its display case.
We will familiarize you with the tools of the trade, pinning supplies, insect boxes, and preservation techniques. We’ll provide all necessary materials for your workshop experience. As they explore stories and artifacts dating all the way back to 1956, these students not only gain an appreciation for the history of the second high school built in Waterloo Region, they also gain an understanding of what it really means to be part of Eastwood’s story. Packed with pop, rock, and musical theatre hits spanning seven decades, Eastwood Live! is a celebration of community, identity, and legacy that seeks to answer the question, “What does it mean to be an Eastwood Lion?”

Presented by the Toronto Bandura Festival, Bandura on Bloor is a musical concert series in Toronto showcasing solo bandura performers, small ensembles, and bands featuring the bandura. Join us for this delightful opportunity to spend your Friday evening with the magical sounds of the bandura in downtown Toronto!This performance will be followed by a post-concert reception for all the guests and performers.
All net proceeds from this event will be donated to the Guardian Angels Ukraine Fund of the League of Ukrainian Canadian Women.

Ostap Stakhiw

Ostap Stakhiw is a renowned Ukrainian bandurist and recipient of the prestigious title People's Artist of Ukraine, awarded by the Ukrainian government for his exceptional contributions to the development of the performing arts. He began his professional career in 1981 as a soloist with the Lviv Philharmonic and as a member of the “Vatra” vocal-instrumental ensemble. In 1985, he became the leader and soloist of the “Drymba” folk ensemble at the Lviv Philharmonic. Three years later, in 1988, he founded and directed the “Folklore Theatre of Ostap Stakhiw” in Lviv. Since 1989, Mr. Stakhiw has also been a highly respected educator, teaching bandura and vocal performance at the Lviv State Conservatory named after Mykola Lysenko. Between 1988 and 1991, he created and performed a series of original theatrical concert programs, including “Play, My Bandura” and “Hey, You, Riflemen of Sich”. Beginning in the mid-1980s, Ostap Stakhiw has proudly represented Ukraine on international stages across Europe and Asia. In 1992, he was awarded the title Honoured Artist of Ukraine and conducted a major concert tour across the United States and Canada. In 2001, he performed at the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Los Angeles, where he won gold and silver medals for vocal performance and bandura artistry. From 2000 to 2010, Mr. Stakhiw served as the National Director of the Ukrainian delegation to WCOPA in Los Angeles (Hollywood). In 2011, he was awarded the Jubilee Medal for “20 Years of Independence of Ukraine” in honour of his continued cultural contributions. A pioneer in bridging tradition with modernity, Mr. Stakhiw has spent decades reimagining classic Ukrainian folk melodies. In 2007, he founded an orchestra of modern folk music, known for programs such as “Christmas in Lviv” and “Spirit of Ukraine,” as well as innovative instrumental interpretations of carols and traditional songs. Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Stakhiw has been featured in numerous films, video productions and recordings. Alisa Osavelyuk

Alisa Osavelyuk was born in Ukraine, in the Western City of Ternopil. Alisa started playing bandura at the age of 9 years old. While in Ukraine, she played in a bandura ensemble called “Срібні Струни” (“Silver Strings”). Alisa moved to Canada with her family in 2014. Away from home, she became even more passionate about her beloved instrument. Alisa found a talented teacher, Oksana Zelinska-Shevchuk, in Mississauga and joined the Vira Zelinska Bandura Capella “Золоті Струни” (“Golden Strings”). To improve her singing skills, she added formal vocal training to her weekly routine as well. Alisa has participated in many music festivals, such as the Ukrainian Music Festival and the Kiwanis Music Festival of Greater Toronto, where she was able to achieve Golden and Platinum awards and win numerous scholarships. Alisa is also a member of the Women’s Bandura Ensemble of North America. Alisa has promised herself that she will not leave her love for music behind and has kept that promise ever since. So today, she cherishes every moment that she gets to perform on the stage and do what she loves the most!

Stymied by socio-economic insecurities and determined to get a taste of the good life, a family man resorts to increasingly dark and desperate measures in Mathieu Denis’ enthralling drama.
On the surface, the protagonist of Mathieu Denis’ fourth feature appears to have it pretty good. But, for Nacer (Samir Guesmi), his warm and loving relationships with his wife Farrah (Meriem Medjkane) and their children and his strong community ties do little to ameliorate his sense that he’s been cheated of the life he deserves. Indeed, the earthly nirvana Nacer glimpses in a sun-dappled Lexus dealership in the opening scene — one of many examples of Sara Mishara’s extraordinary cinematography for the film — is clearly what he most desires. But how far will he go to achieve it?
That question lies at the heart of The Cost of Heaven, which was inspired by a shocking true-life crime in Montreal in 2012. A cautionary parable about a good person who’s poisoned by pernicious ideas about ambition, wealth, and status, Denis’ film plays out like a gripping combination of morality play and horror thriller about late-stage capitalism.
As such, it boasts the same darkly hued intensity that distinguished the director’s two previous features to premiere at the Festival: Corbo (TIFF ’14), a stunning portrait of a teenager’s radicalization in 1960s Quebec; and Those Who Make Revolution Halfway Dig Their Own Graves (TIFF ’16), a cinematic Molotov cocktail that won Best Canadian Feature honours for Denis and co-director Simon Lavoie.
And even though Denis’ latest introduces a cooler kind of elegance to his filmmaking thanks to Guesmi’s deft lead performance and Mishara’s superb compositions, it’s impossible not to feel the turmoil simmering just below the surface, ready to explode.

The performance of Kainchee Lagaa & Jhooti on Saturday April 4 (7:30PM) is intended to create an affinity space and opportunity for South Asian audiences to see the show in community.
“It is my intention for this night to place South Asian audiences at the centre of this storytelling, to offer a space for the culturally-specific complexities and nuances of the plays to be felt together.” - Zaiba Baig
“South Asian” is used strategically and expansively: there is no way to adequately represent all the complexities of having identities connected to “South Asia,” which can include diasporic, Nepali, NRI, Tamil, Indo-Caribbean, Oriya-speaking, brown, Tibetan, Fijian, Maldivian, mixed-race, Pakistani, and more. We intentionally disrupt the exclusion of Black “south asian” folks, Dalit folks and others in this invitation and welcome communities who may see themselves reflected in this show's content as it relates to their cultural context.This definition is inspired and modelled from anu radha verma’s language from brOWN//out 
 
Content WarningKainchee Lagaa and Jhooti are recommended for audiences over the age of sixteen. Both plays contain sexual themes and simulated sex acts, intense descriptions of violence, and coarse language. 
 
About House of Beida House of Beida was created by Zaiba Baig in 2020 to support trans-led artistic projects and mentorship initiatives for trans creatives. Through House of Beida, Baig works on projects for screen and stage that champion nuance and complexity in trans narratives, as well as advocating to prioritize the needs of trans people of colour in artistic environments.
