LeVolume is a new project for its members Jenny Whitely, Joey Wright and Julian Brown. Brought together by their love of the letter J, the trio soon found they had a lot in common musically, as well!
The music created by Jenny, Joey and Julian as LeVolume has the uncanny effect of buoying your spirit at one turn and touching your soul at the next weave beauty, melancholy and humour deftly into a gorgeous LeVolume quilt that can be used to warm you by the fire or readily thrown on the sand for a sunny waterside picnic. 
LeVolume released their debut recording, a: self-titled! summer-themed! double-record! in May 2025. One half in English, one half in French!
Le Volume writes their original songs in both English and French, while also interpreting and translating songs by such luminaries as Doug Paisley, Jesse Winchester and Carolyn Mark. The band also has the thrill of including an original song by Canadian literary giant Ann-Marie MacDonald in their repertoire, written just for them! Their songs explore topics from first summer love to sub-division dreams, beach-town rendezvous to small-town Ontario's own ubiquitous Metal Dad (not doin' too bad!)
LeVolume's music features the rich strumming of acoustic guitars, the bright tinkling of mandolins and etherial vocals with loads of harmonies strewn throughout as each member takes a turn on lead vocals. The result is a rich yet light, folk-not-folk, bubbly yet heavy concoction that is sure to intoxicate its listeners. LeVolume takes the music seriously, but not themselves, just like Fleetwood Mac, except without the drums, bass, piano, cocaine and infidelity. They're also funny.

LeVolume a sorti son premier album, un double album éponyme sur le thème de l'été, en mai 2025. La moitié est en anglais, l'autre moitié en français !
Le Volume écrit ses chansons originales en anglais et en français, tout en interprétant et en traduisant des chansons de grands noms tels que Doug Paisley, Jesse Winchester et Carolyn Mark. Le groupe a également le plaisir d'inclure dans son répertoire une chanson originale écrite spécialement pour lui par la grande écrivaine canadienne Ann-Marie MacDonald ! Leurs chansons explorent des thèmes allant du premier amour estival aux rêves de lotissement, en passant par les rendez-vous dans les villes balnéaires et le Metal Dad omniprésent dans les petites villes de l'Ontario (qui ne s'en sort pas trop mal !).
La musique de LeVolume se caractérise par le riche son des guitares acoustiques, le tintement clair des mandolines et des voix éthérées, avec de nombreuses harmonies disséminées tout au long des morceaux, chaque membre prenant tour à tour le rôle de chanteur principal. Le résultat est un mélange riche mais léger, folk sans être folk, pétillant mais intense, qui ne manquera pas d'enivrer ses auditeurs. LeVolume prend la musique au sérieux, mais pas eux-mêmes, tout comme Fleetwood Mac, sauf qu'ils n'ont pas de batterie, de basse, de piano, de cocaïne ni d'infidélité. Ils sont aussi drôles.

From Namur to the cosmopolis, and everything in between.
Born in rural Quebec, Rod grew up immersed in the rich traditions of folk and country music. Over the past three decades, he's travelled the globe to broaden those roots—studying philosophy, literature, and collaborating across genres and cultures.
A formative period came in early-2000s Montreal, where Rod studied under Brazilian jazz guitarist Jorge Costa and fronted a number of rock and progressive rock bands, further expanding his musical voice.
In more recent years, Rod co-founded the folk-rock outfit HemlockHotel with longtime collaborator Dany Lee Duke. As lead songwriter and frontman, Rod helped shape the band’s unique sound over the course of nearly 20 original releases in five years.
Now based in Ottawa, Rod is focused on a range of solo and collaborative projects. His debut solo album—produced by Juno Award-winning producer Steve Foley—is currently in development, with a release planned for spring 2026.
Live, Rod regularly performs throughout the Toronto–Montreal corridor, often accompanied by guitarist Mark Strachan (formerly of Vancouver-based Themasses).
His current setlist features heartfelt reinterpretations of songs by The Tragically Hip, woven together with his own original material for an emotionally resonant and uniquely Canadian live experience.

Né dans la campagne québécoise, Rod a grandi immergé dans les riches traditions de la musique folk et country. Au cours des trois dernières décennies, il a parcouru le monde pour élargir ses horizons, étudiant la philosophie, la littérature et collaborant avec différents genres et cultures.
Une période formatrice s'est déroulée au début des années 2000 à Montréal, où Rod a étudié sous la direction du guitariste de jazz brésilien Jorge Costa et a dirigé plusieurs groupes de rock et de rock progressif, élargissant ainsi sa voix musicale.
Plus récemment, Rod a cofondé le groupe de folk-rock HemlockHotel avec son collaborateur de longue date, Dany Lee Duke. En tant que compositeur principal et leader, Rod a contribué à façonner le son unique du groupe au cours de près de 20 albums originaux en cinq ans.

Contemporary folk songs, at their very best, offer an insight into the hardships, attitudes, and resolve of characters and events that shape our day-to-day lives. You can dress these songs up in inspired arrangements and intricate instrumentation but, at their very essence, the archetypal folk song is all about stories. Stories and people. Something such compelling songwriters as Eric Bogle, Si Kahn, Ewan MacColl, and Stan Rogers … all understood and mined so effectively.
James Keelaghan, too, burrows into that same rich seam with equal ability and comparable conviction. To quote Eric Bibb, the award-winning American acoustic bluesman, after listening to Keelaghan perform: “[You’re] a joy to hear, just beautiful.  Reminded me of the best of the best of another time – Liam Clancy, Tom Paxton etcetera.” Less colourful but more succinct, Dave Marsh, the eminent Rolling Stone critic, simply described Keelaghan as “Canada’s finest songwriter.”
Truly, throughout a career that now spans almost four decades, the Juno and Canadian Folk Music Award winner has created a repertoire of incalculable importance – a unique body of work, either inspired by or drawn from the folk tradition. Ten solo albums flush with enduring lyrical relevance. Take the beautiful but heartbreaking ballad, Jenny Bryce, for example. From any point of view, it’s indistinguishable from the numerous traditional tracks covered on his disc A Few Simple Verses.

Connie Kaldor—singer-songwriter, entertainer, TV personality, and women’s music pioneer—is celebrating 45 yearsin show businessthis year with her upcoming 18th recording, titled Keep Going! She began her career in folk music as part of the Canadian wave alongside artistslike Stan Rogers and Valdy. Armed with her enormous stage presence, her unforgettable melodies, and her emotional depth as a songwriter, Connie became a headline act on the festival circuit. Connie Kaldor, auteur-compositeur-interprète, animatrice, personnalité de la télévision et pionnière de la musique féminine, célèbre cette année ses 45 ans de carrière dans le monde du spectacle avec la sortie de son 18e enregistrement, intitulé Keep Going ! Elle a commencé sa carrière dans la musique folk, faisant partie de la vague canadienne aux côtés d'artistes comme Stan Rogers et Valdy. Stephen Fearing is a celebrated troubadour, revered for his vivid, lyrical songwriting, masterful guitar work, and a voice described as melodic and cobalt. He has released critically acclaimed albums, earned two JUNO Awards, and collaborated with legends of modern roots music. As co-founder of the Canadian roots-rock giants Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Fearing has built a legacy of genre-busting music that captures the human condition in all its messy splendour. “I am a storyteller much more than a singer/songwriter,” Fearing reflects, “because I realized my story was less interesting than the story.”
His latest project, The Empathist, will be released on March 13th, 2025. Co-produced by Grammy-nominated drummer Ken Coomer (Wilco, Uncle Tupelo) at his East Nashville Cartoon Moon Recording, the album features nine original songs and a cover of Daniel Lanois’ Where Will I Be. With contributions from John Dymond on bass and Nashville legend Jim Hoke on a range of instruments, The Empathist embodies Fearing’s passion for crafting authentic, exhilarating, and entertaining songs. Each track draws from the truths he observes worldwide, solidifying Fearing’s reputation as a masterful and relatable storyteller.

Since emigrating from his native England in 2002, Chris Ronald has earned a place as one of Canada’s finest singer-songwriters creating and performing contemporary folk music. Ronald's stand-out signature sound is steeped in his British background, poetic lyrics, and a buttery fusion of roots and Americana music.
Ronald first got hooked on songwriting at age 15 when he put to music a poem he wrote in high school, but he only started to go public after he moved to Vancouver in his thirties and self-produced his first albums so he had CDs to sell at the intimate gigs he was playing in and around the city. One of these early works caught the attention of The Georgia Straight who praised Ronald’s songwriting and “beautifully clear tenor voice” and wondered “where his obvious talent has been hiding for so long.” Encouraged, Ronald decided to go all in on his next project to create his first full-production studio album. The resulting Timeline (2014) album catapulted Ronald to a new level in his career with, among other accolades, a nomination for “Songwriter of the Year” at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. Shortly afterward, Ronald was signed to esteemed Canadian folk label Borealis Records to release Fragments (2017) followed by Light & Dark (2021). Both albums achieved top 10 on the FAI Folk Radio chart.

SPECIAL GUEST NATHAN SMITH
Based in Smith Falls, Nathan Smith is a fiddle player with a style informed by a decades-long journey through numerous genres and traditions such as bluegrass, old-time, québécois, and French fiddling. He is in nearly constant demand as a performer, educator, and session player, and he performs regularly with a number of touring ensembles including celebrated bluegrass and roots band The Barrel Boys and award-winning trad superband Vinta.

With Juno and ADISQ nominations and four Canadian Folk Music Awards, GENTICORUM is one of Quebec's leading traditional music groups. Pascal Gemme (violin) and Yann Falquet (guitar), the two founding members of the trio, are also recognized individually for their solid contributions to the traditional music scene. They were joined in 2015 by virtuoso multi-instrumentalist and composer Nicholas Williams (flute, accordion). The pleasure these three musicians take in playing and creating together is palpable, both on stage and on record.
In twenty-two years, the trio has carved out a place for itself on the international traditional, folk, and Celtic music scene. The group's six albums and four EPs have been critically acclaimed in Canada and abroad, allowing them to develop a solid career. In 2016, the Folk Alliance International organization recognized Tony's contributions with a Spirit of Folk Award. Since his move from Ottawa to Nanaimo in 2017, his positive impact on the Ottawa/Gatineau music scene has been recognized with a 'SofTTie' Award that is presented annually in his name. Tony's excellent fourth album, 'Survivor Tree', was produced by James Stephens in Chelsea. The album features musical contributions from Brian Sanderson, Chris MacLean, Fred Guignion, Chris Breitner and more.

Jason Mercer and I spent the last year dancing around the idea of how we might play some music together. Jason is one of my favourite players on the planet. I first knew him as a bassist, but he’ll be bringing his banjo to this project as well... In recent times, Jason had all but put down the electric bass, so we knew this wasn’t going to be a rock/guitar endeavour...
After a booking at The St. Alban’s Hall in Adolphustown, Ontario in May 2025 was followed by an interesting request to make the show all-acoustic, Stephen Stanley & NoElectric was born. It was a no-brainer that my closest collaborator for the past 15 years, Chris Bennett, would join in on 6 and 12 string guitars...
I then felt we needed one more person to bring this all-acoustic band together. Over a decade ago, one of the jewels of the Toronto music scene was a bar in the Junction called The Troubadour. It was there that I first met Michael O’Grady - and not long after he became the focus of the third verse of a song I wrote called “The Troubadour’s Song” Michael is a brilliant live performer and brings both the accordion and the tin whistle to the NoElectric fold...
And everyone sings...! Add in me on acoustic guitar and NoElectric lives!
The music will be a walk through my entire catalogue from the early days right up to the present including songs from Lowest of the Low, Too Many Sisters and The Stephen Stanley Band, along with new songs that have yet to be heard, and will end up comprising the first Stephen Stanley & NoElectric album.

Michael est un brillant interprète sur scène et apporte à la fois l'accordéon et le tin whistle à NoElectric...

Blair Dunlop is an award-winning British singer-songwriter and guitarist, who has released 5 albums, 2 EPs and toured around the globe. Blair burst onto the scene with his debut album ‘Blight & Blossom’ in 2012, showcasing virtuosic musicianship and lyrical maturity, and was awarded a prestigious BBC Folk Award in the wake of its release. A string of critically acclaimed albums followed, along with headline tours and festival appearances in the UK, Europe, North America and Australia. ‘Gilded’ and ‘Notes from an Island’ were released on his own label and singles ‘The Egoist’ and ‘356’ received national playlist status on BBC Radio 2. Following this, ‘Trails: Queensland’ (2021), Blair’s first live album, documented a tour of rural Australia, playing for isolated communities. From Glastonbury to Tuscany, Queensland to Palestine, Blair has brought his musicality and storytelling to audiences young and old. Album five, Out of the Rain, released on 24th May 2024 and consolidated Blairs place in the UK Singer Songwriter sector.

Singer-songwriter Mike McKenna Jr. is an award-winning artist from Cape Breton Island; with a raspy and soulful voice, his warm folk and Americana tones decorate powerful songs laden with captivating storytelling. Born in the coal mining town of Glace Bay and raised along the Mira River, Mike's songwriting aesthetic points heavily to his roots growing up in Eastern Cape Breton. Over the course of 4 studio albums, including his latest record ‘Smokey Mountain High’, he brings us the nostalgia of his home through dreamy narratives and true stories about life and death in Nova Scotia’s coastal, working-class communities. In recent years Mike’s music has earned him an East Coast Music Award, along with additional nominations from the Canadian Folk Music Awards and the Music Nova Scotia Awards. 2025-2026 Carleton Ravens Women's Hockey - Single Game Tickets


Twenty years into its existence, indie folk rock collective Octoberman’s latest single, We Used To Talk of Death, reckons with aging and the evolution of relationships, both to people and places. The regular lineup of Marc Morrissette (vocals, guitar), Marshall Bureau (drums), Tavo Diez de Bonilla (bass, background vocals), J.J. Ipsen (acoustic guitar) and Annelise Noronha (background vocals) was recorded primarily straight to tape and live off the floor by Jarrett Bartlett (Howe Gelb, The Acorn, Jim Bryson) at Little Bullhorn studios in Ottawa, Ontario.  
Described as “Stephen Malkmus at his loosest” by Pitchfork, and “like a sunnier Elliott Smith or Sparklehorse” by Uncut Magazine, Octoberman’s songs have garnered numerous television placements, including a prominent spot on Grey’s Anatomy. Having toured regularly across North America, the UK and Europe, Octoberman has shared stages with acts such as Owen Pallett, Chad VanGaalen, Sam Amidon, Mount Eerie and Julie Doiron. After long stints in Vancouver and Toronto, members are currently spread across Ontario.

Andy Swan is the type of musician who often gets politely referred to as a "critic's favourite"—that's short hand for "really good, but tragically ignored". Unlike many critic faves, however, Swan's music doesn't require a wealth of musical knowledge or esoteric tastes to 'get'. In fact, whether as the songwriter for The Michael Parks (formerly Detective Kalita), or in his solo incarnation, his music is just the opposite: direct, catchy, and immediate.
This is especially evident on his beautiful album, Ottawa. In just over a half an hour, Swan plays thirteen songs whose choruses get comfortably nestled into your head the second you hear them; a good thing seeing as most of the tunes only last long enough to reach the chorus twice. Swan has stated a desire to make this record the kind of album that people would sing along to. It's an admirable objective—one as difficult as it is innocent—and when you listen to a tune like "Can I Pay You With Sunshine?", you gotta admit: he nailed it.

Ottawa Symphony Orchestra

East Coast songwriter Lennie Gallant has released fifteen albums of original songs which have won him a host of awards and nominations from the JUNOs, Les Prix Éloizes, and The ECMAs. His songs have been described as “true slices of life delivered with a poet’s flair and a rugged emotional sensibility”. His song Peter’s Dream, about the state of the oceans and those who harvest from it was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Lennie performs internationally and has toured, not only with his band, but also with symphony orchestras. His songs have been covered by many artists and he has performed with Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers and with David Foster and his band.
Lennie has two co-writes on Jimmy's last album, and was invited to sing on it as a featured artist. One of Lennie's physical albums actually was taken up to the international space station and circled the planet 248 times, finally giving the artist high rotation worldwide!
His album, Time Travel, was voted a top ten Album of the Year by a panel of Canadian music industry personnel, and his recent all original Christmas album has enabled sold out tours. He and partner Patricia Richard also record and perform as the popular Francophone duo, Sirène et Matelot. Their songs have achieved strong play on francophone radio and have consistently remained on the charts! Lennie Gallant is a member of The Order of Canada and has been recognized for his humanitarian efforts.

The Pairs


Claude Munson is an independent folk rock singer-songwriter from Ottawa, Ontario. Writing and performing his original music for more than a decade Claude’s singing can be described as Paul Simon meets Andy Shauf — an unforgettable emotional musical experience. Exploring his innermost thoughts and feelings Claude uses his unique and angelic voice to deliver vulnerability and perspective about the human spirit. Whether solo or accompanied by his talented bandmates and with his versatile and rhythmic guitar styling, Munson and his group create beautiful and dynamic musical landscapes.
Matt Lazenby is a singer-songwriter based in Montreal. Matt migrated to Montreal from England in the late 2000s and has played in bands such as Halde and The Constant Supervision. His debut solo album, Clouds of Dragonflies, was released in May 2025 and has been featured on Québec television, CBC and college radio, as well as multiple Apple Music playlists. The album is a collection of 9 folk songs, spanning a range of influences from retro folk-pop, to Americana and British pastoral sounds of the 1960s. Lazenby’s songs are deeply personal and earnest, but at the same time cryptic. The album’s songwriting is rooted in straightforward, catchy folk but also incorporates different styles, such as pop and indie.

Martin Kerr sings what you're thinking. A folk troubadour for the post-truth age, his outspoken lyrics and soaring voice are connecting with millions of listeners around the world. He blends the urgent issues of the day with deeply personal narratives, in nostalgic folk arrangements that invite you to sing along.
Explosive growth on social media has seen him reach over 50 million people in just the last few months, with his controversial rewrites of classic songs like God Rest Ye Merry Billionaires, Away In Bomb Shelters, and What's Up America? being adopted as anthems for justice and democracy. Making waves with his captivating live performances, he's opened for Dermot Kennedy, Sarah McLachlan, Walk Off The Earth, Blue Rodeo and The Strumbellas, and played festival stages across North America.
Martin honed his live show through 15 years as a street-performer, visiting 35 countries. In 2022 he signed with Nettwerk Records and released a flurry of new work, including his latest EP, After The Apocalypse.
Producers Ben Cramer (Old Sea Brigade) and Owen Lewis (Snow Patrol, Willie Nelson) lend Kerr’s sound new depth - somewhere between James Taylor and Radiohead, tackling themes romantic and apocalyptic, laced with his dry British humour.

Kate Greenland has been an active member in the Ottawa music community for the last decade as both a performer and organizer. After years of being asked about where to listen to her recorded music she is finally releasing her first full length album of original Country songs. On November 8th Kate and her band will be performing the full album live - for the first time. The album, titled Longing & Dreaming, is a collection of songs about love, loss, grief, and dreams - all conveyed through beautiful melodies and evergreen lyrics.
The band is chock full of some of the Ottawa area’s best musicians including Stuart Rutherford on pedal steel, Matt Aston on drums, Nathan Smith on fiddle, Brent Weatherall on guitar, and Chris Breitner on bass. It also features Brianna Herdman on trumpet, and Leeny Jones and Chloe Laberge on vocal harmonies.
Singer-songwriter Campbell Woods will be opening the show with a set of his contemplative Folk songs that are rooted in tradition, yet reflect a contemporary life.

Benjamin Dakota Rogers wields one of those distinct, immediate,and truly wild voices. With a studied nod to old-time and bluegrass rhythms, his unvarnished sound effectively smashes the barrier between past and present.
Delivering songs from a deep well of passion for storytelling, Rogers’ lyric sensibility is rare among young artists. His single, John Came Home, is a haunting take on the murder ballad. “I’d had the riff for about six months,” he says. “I tend to write short stories and convert them into songs.” John Came Home is full of upbeat boldness and ghostly ire that culminates in a direct hit to the chest.
Rogers finds a way to match his instrument to the guttural twang of the voice. “I inherited my great-grandfather’s violin when I was young,” he says. “So I grew up playing that.” After a few years on six-string, Rogers began tuning his tenor guitar like a fiddle. “Tenors are neat because they were only popular for a short time in the 1920s. I’ve played about two-hundred shows on mine. It’s beautiful, and unreliable,” he laughs. The unconventional nature of such a classic piece shines on Charlie Boy, where precise picking builds to a dramatic peak. With sturdy backing by a sparse rhythm section, Rogers offers a fresh and authentic contribution to the traditions of string-band sound.
Zachary Lucky is unapologetically old-school country, armed with a husky, baritone voice. The Grandson of Canadian Country Music pioneer Smilin' Johnnie Lucky, he often receives comparisons to songwriters such as Gordon Lightfoot and Kris Kristofferson. He sings of Canadian places and people as knowingly as he might Townes Van Zandt or the Rio Grande. It's a relatable show on many levels, and conjures universal feelings that have passed through our collective timelines. Already hailed as a master storyteller by outlets ranging from No Depression to The Globe and Mail, Zachary is becoming a legend in his own right and has safely reserved his spot at the table of Canadian roots royalty

The Paul Weber Band is happy to be releasing their latest album Ghost Beer Train at Red Bird Live, with 11 new songs about eastern Ontario and western Quebec. Following in the footsteps of 2020's Ode to Gerry Barber, the new recording is full of strange stories and lost tales: a buried beer train, a forgotten fantasy park, the Vanier cowboy, a local drag queen, and more.

WHO IS BLACK UMFOLOSI?
Black Umfolosi is a wholly owned indigenous Zimbabwean Company formed and registered by citizens from diverse backgrounds of Matabeleland, Zimbabwe for the purpose of participating in the country’s economic growth. Black Umfolosi Productions (Pvt) Ltd aims at growth from a small and medium enterprise to a corporate level.
The idea of Black Umfolosi came about in 1982 when a group of school mates started improvising their own means of entertainment, while at a ZIMFEP Institute. With a gentleness of spirit, a joy of singing and exuberance in dance, Black Umfolosi has touched audiences of all ages locally and internationally since then, and hence having done sixteen recordings.
Black Umfolosi Productions (Pvt) Ltd is equipped with the capacity to achieve vertical growth, take part in Global economy ownership, and competitively handle international deals.
HISTORYBlack Umfolosi is an award Winning Acappella singing and traditional dance group that was formed in 1982 by students who wanted to develop themselves and contribute to their communities, in a positive way. The main reason for this initiative was to preserve and revive the Imbube Culture which was at the time invaded by Break Dance and Western Culture, in which it was now facing elimination from African Dance Culture.
Black Umfolosi is the best travelled Group in Zimbabwe and Southern Africa, hence having toured extensively nationwide and internationally; Europe, USA, Canada, Australia and Asia. They have represented Zimbabwe at International events such as Universal Expo 1992 in Spain, Universal Expo in Portugal 1998 and the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, Canada among many more.
Black Umfolosi soon found the need in the visited communities for people to see and learn about Zimbabwean Traditions. The group made it their obligation to demonstrate and teach others around the world (including other African countries) about the Zimbabwean and most Southern African traditional dances and music.

Renowned Canadian songwriter Stephen Fearing is posed to once again captivate listeners with the release of his next album, The Empathist. The 10-track record, produced in collaboration with Grammy-nominated drummer Ken Coomer (Wilco, Uncle Tupelo), showcases Fearing’s ability to blend heartfelt storytelling with rich, immersive soundscapes. Recorded in Nashville over a whirlwind week, The Empathist features contributions from longtime Blackie & The Rodeo Kings bassist John Dymond and Nashville multi-instrumentalist Jim Hoke, whose mastery of pedal steel, piano, and saxophone adds depth and texture to the album.
Following the release of The Empathist, Fearing will hit the road with his longtime collaborators, the award-winning Danish indie-folk band The Sentimentals. Their dynamic partnership, which began in 2018, has lit up stages across Europe and Canada, bringing a unique fusion of classic Tin Pan Alley songwriting and innovative folk elements to life. Their collaboration was first celebrated on Fearing’s 2022 album Vejpoesi (Danish for “Road Poems”), recorded over three days in Denmark’s Maskinhallen theater. Together, Fearing and The Sentimentals have developed a distinctive sound, blending tradition and experimentation into performances that captivate audiences night after night.

A pianist in his beginnings then self-taught on the guitar, the originality of his style makes him one of today’s greatest guitarists and composers for the instrument. Also called “The Prince of DADGAD”, the Rose d'Or of the Montreux Festival, elected Best Guitarist of World Music by the readers of Guitar Player Magazine!
