I’ve made a lot of bad decisions, and few were worse than the ones I made for my new “Crash & Burn!” tour. What’s so fun about this new multimedia show is that you don’t just hear the ridiculous stories of my latest, dumbest, unbelievably naughty exploits… you see them happen for yourself… completely uncensored!

Steve-O (a.k.a. Stephen Glover) was willing to do whatever it took to become famous, even if it meant stapling his ball sack to his leg. After failing miserably at the University of Miami and couch-surfing with friends, he decided that in order to further his goal of becoming a stuntman he would enroll in Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Clown College. But it was his relentless attention whoring that ultimately led to working with Johnny Knoxville on a new stunt-based reality show called Jackass.
In 2000, MTV aired the first season and the rest, as they say, is history. Since then, he's had continued success, as a New York Times best-selling author with the release of his memoir, 'Professional Idiot', as well as establishing himself in the world of stand-up comedy. With fourteen years of sobriety under his belt, Steve-O shows no signs of slowing down. He can currently be found selling out theatres across the U.S. and Canada on The Bucket List tour, a multimedia stand-up comedy show like no other. In 2022, he rejoined Knoxville and the rest of the Jackass crew for the film 'Jackass Forever', which opened #1 at the box office, and will be releasing his second book A Hard Kick In The Nuts: What I Learned From A Lifetime Of Terrible Decisions.

The Barra MacNeils - An East Coast Christmas is a musical potpourri of traditional MacNeil family favourites gleaned from Christmas ceilidhs, midnight masses and the general festive frolic that accompanies each holiday season. With their captivating vocals, distinctive harmonies and extraordinary musicianship, The Barra MacNeils inject new life and energy into the sights and sounds of Christmas, prompting the Halifax Daily News to describe them as “a treasure of the East Coast, rich with tradition and unmatched in ensemble performance”; and the Globe & Mail to name the recording on which this tour is based “one of the best five Christmas albums of all time!”
The five MacNeil siblings - Lucy, Boyd, Stewart, Kyle and Sheumas - combine on a vast array of instruments including accordian, guitar, piano, fiddle, bodhran, mandolin, banjo, Celtic harp, tin whistles, bouzouki, flute … all underpinned by the nimble-fingered Jamie Gatti on bass. Sherlock Holmes is on the case. The male heirs of the Baskerville line are being dispatched one by one. To find their ingenious killer, Holmes and Watson must brave the desolate moors before a family curse dooms its newest heir. Does a wild hellhound prowl the moors of Devonshire? Can our heroes discover the truth in time? 
Watch as our intrepid investigators try to escape a dizzying web of clues, silly accents, disguises, and deceit as five actors deftly portray more than forty characters. Join the fun and see how far from elementary the truth can be.

Hey Buster is a Kindie band led by Singer-Songwriter Dads from Ottawa ( Slo' Tom and Sherwood Lumsden)  that features a larger-than-life Raccoon puppet called Buster. They perform original songs from three independently released CDs in an interactive show for children ages 3 to 8 and their parents.  The songs range from Mom and Dad approved topics like community and public transportation, to what kids really care about: stinky feet, underwear and boogers.

Pittsburgh-raised, Ottawa-based Hip Hop artist Bobby Brugal encapsulates what it means to be Creative. 
Between his well-documented independent musical career, he is the founder of the lifestyle brand “Pvstlife Products”. Bobby Brugal has become a staple in hosting with his podcast “Nutes”, and now the In-Arena Host for the Ottawa BlackJacks.
His charisma, energy and passion are undeniable to the culture and his presence is felt in every room he enters. 
In the last few years, Bobby Brugal has truly made a name for himself in the creative media space throughout the United States and Canada and plans on bringing more projects to fruition while growing his brand.

Every Instrument will be provided by the house.
Access to stage is a first-come, first-serve process.
The amount of instruments and microphones present on the stage will determine how many can stay on the stage at one time.
We will have the “RED BIRD PICK” of the night. This pick will be chosen by staff at Red Bird and will encourage one participant of the night to close the show with another performance. 
There will be opportunities to network and possibly be featured in future events as a featured emcee or instrumentalist.


Hip Hop Jam

Jeremy Fisher is a 4-time JUNO-nominated folk-pop singer-songwriter based in Ottawa.
He has released 6 studio albums and his music has been featured on radio, in film (The Big Year, Our Idiot Brother), commercials (Volkswagen, American Airlines), and as main title TV themes (Disney, Global).
Over the last 20 years Jeremy has toured the world and shared the stage with artists such as Alanis Morissette, Blue Rodeo and Indigo Girls.
He is a co-creator, songwriter and voice actor for the CBC animated series Jeremy and Jazzy, a show about how feelings become songs, songs become stories, and music, friendship, and collaboration create joy.

It might’ve even been last night, but Steve Poltz just played the greatest show of his life. Guess what? 
The next show will be even greater, making that show the greatest show of his life. 
Are you starting to notice a trend? 
He isn’t shy about it either. 
Even after most likely thousands of shows (but who’s counting?), he hits the stage with the same amount of energy and always makes sure to declare, “This is the greatest show of my life.” 
It’s why he’s quietly emerged as the kind of live phenomenon celebrated passionately by a diehard fanbase worldwide and renowned as a festival favourite everywhere from Bluesfest in Byron Bay and High Sierra Music Festival in California and Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado to Cayamo Cruise (where he actually got married). It’s why his music has crept into pop culture via collaborations with everyone from Jewel and Billy Strings to Molly Tuttle, Sierra Hull, Nicki Bluhm, Oliver Wood, and even the late Mojo Nixon. It’s why after over a dozen albums, he’s still creatively firing on all cylinders and critically acclaimed by the likes of Rolling Stone, Associated Press, Billboard, and many more.

Bluegrass Wednesdays ft. The Dusty Drifters

Rick Fines is an award-winning Canadian roots and blues artist, celebrated for his soulful songwriting, expressive guitar playing, and heartfelt performances. No stranger to Ottawa, his music blends honesty, warmth, and the timeless spirit of the blues. A Peterborough native, Rick had a packed house for his concert here at Red Bird Live in July of 2024, ahead of relocating to Germany for a few years.  Now he's stopping back home for Ottawa's Blues In The Schools program, something he's been involved in for 25 years. He's looking forward to performing for his Ottawa audience, with a few songs he's been writing and, no doubt, stories from the dozen countries he's visited in Europe.

Brother Bones and friends are back! The Roots for the Sky Revue returns January 9, 2026 with another benefit concert for one of Ottawa’s truly dynamic nonprofits, Community Action for Environmental Sustainability, otherwise known as CAFES.
 Brother Bones  band has been gigging around Ottawa for twenty years, offering a lively blend of original material from three songwriters whose influences range from The Band and Tom Waits to Elvis Costello. Brother Bones are:  Dave Munroe, acoustic guitar, vocals; David Paré, acoustic guitar, mandolin, vocals; Paul Paré, electric guitar, vocals; Richard Pinet, drums, vocals; Paul Skene, electric and upright basses.

MacIsaac and MacKenzie 
Alexis MacIsaac and Calum MacKenzie are a wife and husband duo and among Ottawa finest performers of Celtic and Cape Breton musical styles. Alexis plays a modern blend of Irish, Scottish and Cape Breton fiddle styles, while Calum’s style is influenced by his Hebridean roots and his native Cape Breton. Alexis has performed with such acts as Riverdance, The High Kings and The Paperboys, while Calum has played at home and abroad on both piano and fiddle. Maria Hawkins brings her powerful vocals to an eclectic repertoire of blues and soul music. For three decades, Maria has been a major force in Ottawa’s music scene and a champion of arts education. John Sobol is a spoken word wizard who happens to play blistering sax in just about any genre you throw at him. At 15 he was playing five nights a week in Montreal jazz clubs and in the decades since he's performed in hundreds of venues across Canada and internationally, as both a performance poet and musician. A tirelessly smart and wry wordsmith, John alternately provokes and inspires audiences while getting their hearts thumping and their feet tapping.

Vince Halfhide is a veteran of the Ottawa blues scene with a long resume—a master guitarist and inspired songwriter who started making waves in Heaven's Radio, the legendary Ottawa blues and reggae band fronted by Terry Gillespie. Vince has played sideman with artists like Sneezy Waters, Missy Burgess, the Toasted Westerns and the Mighty Popo (recipient of the 2007 Canadian Folk Music Award for Best Group - World Music).  Most Thursdays you’ll find him performing in the All-Star Blues Jam house band at Irene's Pub in the Glebe.

En 2018, scientists warned there were only 12 years. Now it’s 2026. The world has been living on a tipping point for over 8 years. Le temps a passé; but what has changed? Everything and nothing. Oui. Et alors? A group of youth committed to taking climate action the way they know best--theatre--attempt to perform for you the play they created 8 years ago, again. They've changed (haven't we all changed?) and yet the fight for climate justice is like ...like trying to compost concrete. How do they sustain caring for a cause their generation has championed for decades? How does anyone? Is it ever ok to stop? How do we choose between personal survival and that of an entire planet? Time has passed; mais qu'est-ce qui a changé? Tout et rien. Yes. And so? Un groupe de jeunes engagés à lutter contre les changements climatiques de la meilleure façon qu'ils connaissent--le théâtre--tentent de jouer pour vous, encore une fois, la pièce qu'ils ont créé il y a 8 ans. All the configurations; les chiffres et la géométrie; the declarations, les promesses et les serments; la science et l'art, les mots mots mots-- they will do it all again. Mais comment? Ils ont changé (n'avons-nous pas tous changé?), et pourtant le combat pour la justice climatique, c'est comme... comme essayer de composter du béton. Gee-Gees Hockey (M)

Melwood Cutlery is a Canadian folk/roots singer-songwriter who blends blues and country-inspired music on guitar, piano and harmonica with unforgettable vocals.
Over a decades-long career, he's played festivals and venues in Canada and the US, drawing critical acclaim for his songs (the touching or clever lyrics, the haunting or catchy melodies), dynamic performances with splashes of quirky humour and, always, that unique voice. A working musician and songwriter since he was a teenager, he gained early recognition as a solo artist in his native Ottawa. In the years that followed, Cutlery continued to build his reputation. He now lives outside Perth.
His six studio albums demonstrate the evolution of his music and sensibilities with finely crafted songs that range from the melancholy of romance to unforgettable ballads about uniquely Canadian stories.
“. . . cagey and impressive work . . . eminently tuneful, curiously simple, delightfully wise” said  Greg Quill of the Toronto Star and “the hippest songwriter around” according to renowned Scottish-Canadian singer-songwriter, David Francey.
In his newest release, “A Complete Display of Tackle” (2024, Little Bullhorn Studios, produced by Lynn Miles and Dave Draves), Cutlery is at the top of his game as a songwriter, singer, guitar picker and piano player, embracing a myriad of influences but with unexpected twists.
Melwood’s audience is in for a moving and memorable experience. He promises a set of solo/acoustic music on piano and guitar followed by a second set with a band of top notch players: Fred Guignion (lead guitar), Michael Ball (double bass and fiddle), Stuart Rutherford (dobro), Dave Draves (accordion) and Lynn Miles (vocals).

Gee-Gees Volleyball (F/W)

This six-week course explores the explosion of creativity in American and British popular music, starting with the birth of rock and roll through to the British Invasion. Styles to be discussed include rockabilly, Brill Building pop, surf rock, folk, and more. The social and historical context of this music – including a growing youth culture and changing race relations – will also be examined. From Elvis Presley and Bob Dylan, to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, the music of the 1950s and early 1960s exerted a cultural influence that lives on to the present.
Keith McCuaig is a part-time professor at the University of Ottawa; has taught 40 courses through Carleton University’s now-defunct Lifelong Learning Program; and has presented at international musicology conferences. From performing and giving music lessons, to lecturing and working with community music programs, Keith’s life and passion is music.
Week 1 - January 5 This course will start with the pre-rock and roll period, including the socio-cultural context for the emergence of rock and roll, and some major figures (Big Joe Turner, Big Mama Thornton). The focus this week will be on early rock and roll, including DJ Alan Freed; Northern rockers Bill Haley and His Comets; and New Orleans artists like Little Richard and Fats Domino.
Week 2 - January 12Continuing in the early rock and roll period, we’ll look at the rockabilly scene in Memphis, Tennessee. Early rockabilly artists such as Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Wanda Jackson will be covered. The Chicago R&B scene will also be covered, including important early rock and roll figures Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley. 
Week 3 - January 19This week will be spent discussing the so-called “Transition Period,” 1958-1963. Some highlights include Brill Building Pop, Girl Groups, Phil Spector, Roy Orbison, the Everly Brothers, and Surf Rock (the Beach Boys, Dick Dale). 
Week 4 - January 26After finishing up the “Transition Period,” we’ll start on the folk section. We’ll look at the context for the folk revival of the 1950s and 1960s, and discuss artists like Woodie Guthrie, Peter, Paul and Mary, Bob Dylan and more.   
Week 5 - February 9 Continuing in the folk section, we’ll look at folk rock (the Byrds, Bob Dylan) and the singer-songwriter genre (Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen). We’ll also start on the British Invasion section. 
Week 6 - February 23The British Invasion will be covered, including the context for the emergence of UK acts in the US. Focus will be on the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, but other groups like the Who and the Kinks will also be covered.

September 2022 – Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman, died in Tehran while in the custody of the "morality” police after she was arrested for “improper hijab”. Days after her death, protesters flooded the streets chanting “Zan, Zendegi, Azadi.”
“Women, Life, Freedom.”
A week before Mahsa’s death, Ava Alavi moved to Canada from Iran.
As her friends in Iran joined in yelling “Zan, Zendegi, Azadi”, Ava was here, safe but stuck. Shouting "Women, Life, Freedom" from thousands of miles away, she needed to do something. So she created Sound, merging her personal experiences as a woman raised in Iran with the broader political and social struggles unfolding in her home country.
Sound carries the echoes of generations of women living under oppression, their moments of silence, survival, and defiance merging into one collective voice. It serves as proof that in a place designed to erase them, to exist is to rebel.
