Senior dance students will be showcasing their choreography skills in the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts' annual Young Choreographers in Concert event taking place April 10 & 11, 2026. 
Evening performances April 10 & 11 at 7 PM, matinee performance April 11 at 2 PM.  Tickets are $8-$12 and available for purchase at CharterArts.org.
SEATING NOTES:  Please note that seating marked as "Orch" is orchestra seating close to the stage.  Seating marked as "Top" is at the back of the theater.  "Side" seating are balconies with slightly obstructed view. This annual concert is the culminating event, or final exam, for the Senior Dance Composition course. Each senior student creates original choreography that is cohesively inspired by a theme of their choosing and sets their work on their peers. 
Concert co-director, Amy Berry says, "YCC is an invaluable opportunity for students to find their creative selves and to see an artistic process through from conception to the stage. Artists Emily Schreiner and Liz Yohlin Baill are taking over SEPTA bus shelters with thoughtfully designed games and conversation starters that spark intergenerational creative exchange about the world right outside the window. The goal is simple: look up and out together, rather than down and alone at a screen. The method is joyful, visual, and unmistakably Philly.
Drawing on their work creating family guides and exhibitions for the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Schreiner and Baill will fill bus shelter poster spaces with content that brings the city to life for the families waiting in it. The project, co-produced by WHYY, is in conversation with the new children's TV series The Good Neighbor Club—premiering summer 2026—extending the show's mission of building good neighbors directly to the public transit stops of Philadelphia.

Celebrate International Jazz Day with a can’t-miss hometown release show for Now in Time, the third album by world-renowned Hartford jazz legend Nat Reeves. Long regarded as the go-to bassist for a veritable who’s-who of jazz, including Kenny Garrett, Pharoah Sanders, Jackie McLean, and Sonny Stitt, Reeves cultivated generations of artists at the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz at the University of Hartford's Hartt School and the Artists Collective. This concert offers a rare opportunity to hear a master of the low frequencies on both bass and cello, and to experience his original compositions in the hard-bop tradition as the leader of an all-star sextet. The evening will also feature Reeves in a spoken-word duo with special guest Kate Rushin, award-winning poet-in-residence at Connecticut College. Reeves’s bass is a bridge from the golden age of jazz to the future of the art form. His irrepressible sense of swing conjures a time when giants walked the earth—of course, he is also one of them.
The Nat Reeves Sextet will consist of Reeves, bass and cello; Eric Alexander, tenor saxophone; John Hasselback III, trumpet; Steve Davis, trombone; Caelan Cardello, piano; Chris Beck, drums.
About Nat ReevesFor over 40 years, Nat Reeves has been one of the top bassists in jazz. Early in his career, he performed with Jackie McLean, Benny Golson, Donald Byrd, Art Taylor, Mulgrew Miller, Kenny Kirkland, Walter Davis Jr., Walter Bishop Jr., Larry Willis, and Kenny Drew. He became a longtime member of alto saxophonist Kenny Garrett’s group in 1994, and more recently has worked and recorded with tenor saxophonists Pharoah Sanders, George Coleman, and Eric Alexander; trombonist Steve Davis; pianists Harold Mabern, George Cables, David Hazeltine, and Anthony Wonsey; and drummer Joe Farnsworth, among many others. He has released three albums as a leader: State of Emergency, Blue Ridge, and most recently, Now in Time.
Reeves was born and raised in Lynchburg, Virginia. When he was 22 and living in Richmond, Virginia, he joined a band led by trumpeter Tom Mitchell and guitarist Randy Johnston. Johnny Coles, trumpeter for Ray Charles who frequently sat in with the band, convinced Reeves to switch to acoustic bass. Without taking a lesson, Reeves taught himself the new instrument and quickly developed his own individual voice. In 1979, he moved to New York City, where he performed with Kenny Garrett, Mulgrew Miller, Tony Reedus, and James Williams. He first toured with Sonny Stitt in 1982 during what would be the great saxophonist’s last tour. That year he met Jackie McLean, who became his mentor, performing with him intermittently from 1987 to 2004.
Reeves began teaching at the Hartt School at the University of Hartford (now the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz) and the Artists Collective (an arts organization founded by Jackie and Dollie McLean). After teaching part-time for years, Reeves began teaching full-time at Hartt in 2001. He retired from the university in 2021, but continues to teach privately and hold master classes. Committed to carrying on Jackie McLean’s legacy, Reeves looks forward to leading more recordings in the future and, in addition to playing with many of his favorite musicians, working more often as a leader.
According to the Hartford Courant, Reeves is "noted for his artful articulation, time, tone, taste, and irrepressible sense of swing and fluid invention."

ICONS Dance Festival is an annual event hosted by the Joffrey Concert Group that celebrates the rich tapestry of New York’s heritage dance companies, creates educational opportunities, and fosters a sense of community among young pre-professional dancers.​
On April 18-19, 2026 at Ailey Citigroup Theater, Limón2, BH2, and the Joffrey Concert Group will join together for performances and in a series of masterclasses hosted by the Artistic Directors of each company.
Master Classes:
Dancers ages 14-25 will have the opportunity to learn from the Artistic Directors of NYC's leading dance companies: The Joffrey Concert Group, Limón, and Ballet Hispánico.
Artistic Directors of each company will immerse dancers into the unique approaches that has defined their companies. Dancers will be given the unique opportunity to expand their artistry and refine their approach to movement.

Choreographer and dancer Ayano Elson premieres Control, a deeply physical, formally minimal dance created in collaboration with performers Cayleen Del Rosario, Amelia Heintzelman, Owen Prum, and evan ray suzuki, with music by Matt Evans, lighting by Madeline Best, and costumes by Kate Williams.
The piece treats the dancer as a conduit into an internal psychic space shaped by accumulated desire and eroticism. A site of longing, waiting, and devastation.
Drawing on American postmodern dance, postwar slow cinema from East Asia, and Ayano’s inheritance of Okinawan performance lineages, Control unfolds through imitation, rupture, and transformation.

 Unleash your creativity and curiosity in our Introductory Taxidermy Class! Designed for beginners, this hands-on course offers a fascinating glimpse into the art and science of taxidermy.
Class begins promptly at 10am and ends at 4pm.
We provide each student with either a skinned, cleaned, and tanned racoon, opossum, or rat hide depending on the workshop you are taking.
The first half of class is focused on preparing your form, setting the eyes, test fitting and mounting the hide, as well as grooming.
After our first 30-minute break class shifts towards plaque preparation and mounting your project.
The class runs for approximately 6 hours with two 30-minute breaks throughout the day.

Sunset Moths Entomology Class $150USD Unlock the artistry of entomology in our Introductory Bug Pinning Workshop! This hands-on experience is perfect for nature enthusiasts, aspiring entomologists, or anyone interested in the intricate craft of insect preservation. Join us as we guide you through the techniques of preparing and pining insects, transforming them into beautiful, display-ready specimens.
The AM class will begin promptly at 10am and last 2.5 hours.
You will learn the foundational skills of bug pinning, including safe collection methods, proper handling, and the step-by-step process of pinning and mounting your specimen.

Your first specimen will be a moth or butterfly that will be used to practice your newly learned pinning technique. Once you’ve completed this step we will move on to creating your unique frame and placing your Sunset Moth in its display case.

 Immerse yourself in the intriguing world of biological preservation with our Wet Specimen Preservation Workshop! This hands-on class is designed for students, artists, and science enthusiasts eager to explore the techniques of preserving specimens in liquid mediums. Discover how to create striking wet specimens that showcase the beauty and complexity of the natural world.
This class begins promptly at 10am and lasts approximately 2.5 hours.
The first half of class you will be given a short lecture on how to prepare and preserve your own specimen. We’ll cover cleaning, fixing, and storing, ensuring you gain confidence in each step of the process.
In the second half of class you will get hands on and inject a palm sized octopus that you can take home and display.  Additionally, you will receive a preserved specimen (large tentacle) and place it in a globe of liquid medium
