BURLESQUE CLASSES are coming to you this summer!

 

Online and at Casa Lethbridge (230 8 St S, Lethbridge, AB T1J 5H2)

Classes are broken down so each student can choose the best schedule and class options for themselves. We recommend taking Intro, and History for the most foundational learning of burlesque. Adding choreography, hair, makeup, face, and act review for those wanting to build an act to perform. Pasties, floorwork, and chair are an excellent way to explore ways to make your performance pop with expansive learning from a burlesque icon.

 

The Cabaret Company welcomes all bodies, identities, expressions, abilities, and adults looking for community, fun, and feeling themselves!

These classes are made for those starting out or early in their burlesque journey, or those looking to polish their skills.

A student showcase will take place in Lethbridge in July.

Intro to Burlesque with Bit ch Sassidy

April 11 at Casa 1:00-2:30PM

May 3 at Casa 1:00-2:30PM

In this mini series, we will cover the foundational movement and philosophies to build a burlesque act, adding tools to your performance toolbox. Part lecture, part movement, adjustments can be made for each person's ability!

Bring a water bottle, way to take notes, clothing you can move in easily and see your body, clean indoor non marking dance shoes (heels not required but suggested)

 

History of Burlesque with Bea Lissima

Knowing burlesque is knowing the history! How did it get started? Who are the legends who shaped how we know it today? Who do we pay honour to? How has it shaped culture? Where does all this sparkle come from?? Find out all this and more at this online lecture collected and presented by Bea Lissima.

 

Burlesque Choreography with Bit ch Sassidy

In this mini series, you will learn a different burlesque choreography each clas. Though this choreography is set, adjustments can be made for each person's ability! Fun and fast moving, these classes will launch students into the mindset of how to build an act, engage in story, and move their body in exciting new ways.

Intro to Floorwork with Lola Frost

May 9 at Casa 11:00AM-12:30PM

 Feel confident moving through levels in your choreography, adding dynamic and exciting changes to thrill your audience and tell a compelling story. Taught by award winning international burlesque icon Lola Frost, this class will have you smoothing transitioning between performing upright and down to the floor.

Intro to Chair Choreography with Lola Frost

This chair choreography class expands your show pony toolkit by exploring the many ways a chair can be used in burlesque performance. With award winning international burlesque icon Lola Frost leading the way, this class is not to be missed by any burlesque babe, intro or seasoned.

Stage Makeup with Karla Marx

Stage lights can be overwhelming for regular makeup. In this online course students will learn how to level up their makeup to flawless for the stage! With the glamourous burlesque artist, drag performer, host, comedian, and professor Karla Marx.

Pastie Making & Costume Conversation with Bit ch Sassidy

Join Bit ch Sassidy online as they walk you through how to build your very own pasties! Bring your costuming questions, find the support and guidance to bring your costume to life*!

*with consideration for stripability!

Pinup Hair with Bit ch Sassidy

June 8 online 7:00-9:00PM

Bring the fantasy from head to toe and back again!

Back combing, wet set curls, heat set curls, and victory curls will be covered in this online two hour class focusing on hairstyles for the stage! Create a whole look to dazzle an audience from the moment you step in the room!

Suggested products will be sent to students prior the class. Feel free to follow along hands on your hair, or listen in on this tutorial class.

 

Shimmy & Shake with Ivy la Fleur

June 27 at Casa 11:00AM-12:30PM

Tassel twirling? Assels? What's the difference? This class is all about those little hats we use in burlesque to shake and shimmy across the stage. Led by Ivy La Fleur, this workshop will break down the history and basics of tassel twirling for all bodies. No previous experience required. Price of the workshop includes a basic pair of tassels, but you are welcome to bring your own.

Open to all genders, bodies, and identities. No prior burlesque or dance experience is required.

 

Act Review with Bit ch Sassidy

Ready to level up your act? Everyone benefits from an outside eye! Join this class to present your burlesque act, and dig into the gooey details to take it from good to EYE POPPING as we work through moment by moment. Soak in a new perspective and considerations as instructor Bitch Sassidy works alongside each student. Small class size, limited signups available!

Open to all genders, bodies, and identities. Prior burlesque experience is required. 10 spots available.
