Set Design with Narda McCarroll

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Theatre design brings the world of a play to life!

In this full-day workshop with Narda McCarroll, participants will delve into the intricacies of stage set design. You will learn how to find clues, ideas, and visual inspiration in a script as well as how to collaborate with directors and fellow designers. Narda's work for the world premiere of Vimy  by Vern Theissen at The Citadel Theatre in Edmonton will be explored as a case study. There will also be a hands-on project using Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet  as inspiration. No experience required. 

This workshop is open to everyone interested in learning more about set design from the absolute newbie to budding set designers, directors and builders!

**Narda has requested that participants familiarize themselves with the basic plot points of Romeo and Juliet, either by reading the script, a detailed summary or watching a movie version. INSTRUCTOR BIO

Narda is a set, costume and lighting designer based in Calgary, Alberta. She has an MFA in theatre design from the University of Alberta.
