WM2 is the professional development ensemble of W&M Physical Theatre — a rigorous stepping stone toward company membership and other paid performance opportunities. The program is designed to challenge and advance emerging artists through concentrated creation, sustained rehearsal, and meaningful performance experience.

This season features four returning artists and four new ensemble members, working within a model that demands artistic rigor, adaptability, and commitment to craft. Over an intensive 18-day creation period, Melissa Monteros and Nicole Charlton Goodbrand developed a new work shaped specifically for this group — pushing physical clarity, ensemble precision, and individual voice.

The program also includes the results of One Day, One Dance, a rapid-creation process in which a complete choreography is built in a single day. The work reveals instinct, collaboration, and the capacity to make decisive artistic choices in real time.

WM2 has become a vital force within Calgary’s dance community, with its artists increasingly sought after by independent choreographers and collectives.
