Cabaret Laboratory

Welcome to the Cabaret Laboratory, where we explore and expand our understanding and presentation of performance through a cabaret lens.

This ​w​inter we have two 6-week series, two 4-week bootcamps, and a couple specialty classes​ available!​ 
All classes are held at Evergreen Spaces in the ELM Studio (Except Sewing Class held at Rick Rack Textiles).

Sexy Sewing with Bea Lissima

Taught by Bea Lissima, a self-taught costumier. Bea will share with you her tips, tricks, and steps to make your very own show pony underwear! Bea will go over best fabrics and notions for underwear and how to create a sewing pattern of your very own. Cutting mats, tables, and chairs will be provided. Please bring your own sewing machine if you have one. Some materials and elastic will be provided, but you may bring your own if you already have something in mind!

Classic Burlesque Foundations with Bitch Sassidy
Sundays from 7:00 to 8:00PM

This movement-focused series is an opportunity to learn the foundations of classic burlesque. Led by Bitch Sassidy, this series will focus on movement, history, and act development for staged, floor roving, and long-form classic performances.

Sing & Strip with Ivy La Fleur
Sundays from 8:00-9:00pm
March 3 to April 7, 2024

• $175

Taught by Ivy La Fleur, the songbird of striptease. Learn how to combine the art of singing into your burlesque routines and vice-versa! This class will focus on harnessing your singing voice and as well as creating a group routine for the final student showcase.

Pin-Up Bootcamp with Karla Marx

Join Karla Marx for Pin-Up Bootcamp! This four-session series focuses on everything one would need to become a pin-up. Classes will move through hair, make-up, posing, social media basics, and an optional photoshoot with a professional photographer on the fourth day (additional cost).

Draglesque with Karla Marx

Join Karla Marx for Draglesque foundations. This four-session series focuses on combining the art of drag with burlesque. Focusing on stage presence, emphasizing peels and reveals, and of course mastering the lip-sync during all of it!

Giving Face with Ivy La Fleur

Ivy La Fleur will tackle stage presence facial expressions and how to communicate your intentions in this two-hour class. Elevate your stage performance through learning exercises and techniques that tap into the skills of facial choreography.

Beginner Chair Choreography with Bea Lissima
Sunday April 7, 2023 5:00 to 7:00pm

Join Bea Lissima in this beginner chair choreography class. Learn how to incorporate intentional chair movement in your burlesque vocabulary. This class will have a choreography component.

Please bring a folding chair if you have one.

If at anytime a student feels unwell, we require them to not attend class. A student may return to class once they feel well. This is to protect the other attendees and the instructor from falling ill themselves.
