Description
Dust off your retro ski gear and step into a night where mountain culture comes alive. Celebrate 60 years of Whistler Blackcomb with back-to-back screenings of three iconic films: 50 Years of Going Beyond, Rivals, and Magnetic—capturing the history, rivalry, and spirit of the peaks that have inspired generations of skiers and riders.
Before the films hit the big screen, wander through the Whistler Blackcomb: 60 Seasons Deep anniversary exhibit, a visual celebration of six decades of adventure, community, and alpine obsession. Sip our signature cocktail, snack on charcuterie boards, and snap a moment at the selfie booth—this is après culture at its finest. Retro ski outfits encouraged, with prizes for the best throwback looks.
Join us for a night where film, art, and après come together to honour six decades of Whistler Blackcomb magic.
Films Screening:
50 Years of Going Beyond – From a single Olympic dream in 1966 to North America’s largest ski resort, this film celebrates Whistler Blackcomb’s legacy, legendary founders, freestyle heyday, and record-breaking milestones—while looking ahead to the future of the mountains.
Rivals – Discover the playful yet fierce rivalry between Whistler and Blackcomb that drove innovation, built iconic terrain, and pushed skiers and riders to new heights, shaping the resort and its legendary community along the way.
Magnetic – The world’s first full-length ski and snowboard film shot entirely at Whistler Blackcomb, capturing the thrill, challenge, and magnetism of BC’s Coast Mountains.
Proceeds from the event will be shared between Arts Whistler and the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation. The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation provides financial support to registered non-profits that benefit the Sea to Sky Corridor in the areas of health, human services, education, recreation, arts, culture, and the environment, with a focus on children, youth, and families.
*Please note that alcoholic drinks are allowed in the Gallery only, not in the theatre during the movies.
