Description

Water Wars Revisited for EARTH DAY 2021

Join us Wednesday, April 21 for Water Wars Revisited. The on-line event includes a streaming of the dance Water Wars followed by a live Q&A with the original cast. This is a virtual premier and we are excited to share with you the making of this dance  over nine years ago. The content and theme are still relevant in today's world of climate change. Water Wars is a celebration and inspirational performance inspired by all things water – puddle jumping, rain making, river flowing, baptism, water rights and water consumption. Set to a gorgeous score by our own local composer Cory Gabel, the 55 minute dance is beautiful and thought provoking look at our relationship to and with water.

Meet the original cast and artists for an insiders view of the creative process.

"River" with Bryan Smith, Juliane Guarnieri, Megan McDermott and Amy Nesbitt.

"Puddle Jumping" with Megan McDermott

Excerpts from the dance have been performed numerous times throughout the years on or around Earth Day. I crated an arts integration program for grades pk-8 based on my research and creative process for this dance. There are sections that stand on their own.

 "Water Bottles" with Julianne Guarnieri

As we near Earth Day 2021 I am reminded by the many good things the pandemic has brought us. One of those is significantly less pollution from vehicles. The air is clear, people are growing their own food – and our president has brought us back to the Paris Climate deal. And over 300 CEOS are supporting his efforts (Hartford Courant article.)

Bryan Smith and Elisa Schroth
