Description
W3APONS is a Canadian Rock trio from Saskatoon, SK. The band’s debut single “Off the Top of My Heart” was co-written with Clayton Bellamy (The Road Hammers), Colin MacDonald (The Trews), and John-Angus MacDonald (The Trews). The band continued their relationship with John-Angus by enlisting him to produce the track. The result was a song reminiscent of AC/DC and Bryan Adams - yet entirely modern and unabating with its hooks. “Off the Top of My Heart” has received national radio play since its release on May 11, 2018, and has received over 200,000 streams on Spotify, grabbing attention of audiences from Canada, United States, Australia, England, and Central Europe.
The band began its life on the road. Seasoned performing and recording drummer, Tallus Scott (Jordan Cook aka Reignwolf, Mitch Larock and the 4:54 Band, Young James, Violent Kin), and emerging rock guitarist and vocalist Jordan Welbourne (2017 FACTOR Artist Development Recipient), joined forces with the intention of showing the world what they believed rock and roll was about. A long time friend, and hidden treasure of a musician, bassist Myk Ulan, proved to be the final ingredient in the perfect storm that is W3APONS - Energetic, Hard-hitting, and unmistakably Rock & Roll.
League of Wolves is a hard-hitting rock group from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Originally comprised of four childhood friends, Dillon Currie, David Wickstrom, and Aspen and Greig Beveridge, the band started out by playing at small concert halls and outdoor events in neighbouring cities and towns. They quickly earned local recognition, with their first demo getting radio play throughout the province.
In 2016, the group played at local venue, The Capitol, owned by four-time JUNO award-winner and former lead guitarist of The Sheepdogs, Leot Hanson. After seeing the show, Hanson was blown away and knew it was something he needed to be a part of. He soon after became a permanent member of the band.
Hanson’s wealth of experience and writing style brought a new sound and direction to the band, with listeners comparing it to the likes of Kings of Leon and Queens of the Stone Age. “In collaborating with Leot, our song writing took a different direction. Our sound is closer to what we wanted all along,” says the band… “Exactly like it should be”.
With the new sound and surrounding local excitement, the band drew the attention of JUNO award-winning producer Gavin Brown (Three Days Grace, Tragically Hip, Billy Talent), who after months of development signed them to his record label, Inside Pocket. After writing and collaborating with the likes of Maia Davies (co-writer with One Bad Son, Mother Mother), Jon Harvey (Monster Truck) and Brown himself, League of Wolves found themselves at Noble Street Studios in Toronto, Ontario to put to record a brand new 6-song EP. Rounding out the world-class production is Grammy award-winning mixer Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Modest Mouse), with Harry Hess (Billy Talent, Arkells) sitting in the mastering chair.
League of Wolves frontman, Dillon Currie, says writing and recording with the likes of Brown, Davies, and Harvey has helped the group evolve creatively, as well as solidify their vision. Above all, he says these experiences are extremely rewarding: “It’s fun to be a part of making quality content with your friends and being able to share it with people all over the world”.
The self-titled EP will be released on Inside Pocket via Warner Music Canada in early 2019, with the first single, ‘Never Be the Same Again’ to be released August 24th, 2018. An accompanying music video will also be released, which was filmed during the band’s spring tour.
Having already shared the stage with several of Canada’s top rock bands, including The Glorious Sons, The Trews, and The Beaches, League of Wolves look forward to hitting the road in the fall of 2018 – and not stopping until their name is a mainstay on every top rock playlist in the country.
