Description

SPECIAL FUNDRAISING CONCERT AND RECEPTION

The Vancouver Westcoast Music Society welcomes guest performers Vivaldi Chamber Choir, under the direction of Edette Gagné, for a special afternoon of choral music.

Vivaldi Chamber Choir has created an extraordinary musical journey exploring the themes of Earth, Heart and Sky. The music chosen reflects our interconnection with the earth - the interconnections between our hearts - and our global, universal connections under the same sky. It shows how our energies and our spirits are intertwined, and how the act of singing together allows us to express this fact.

Featuring music by Indigenous and other composers, the afternoon will allow guests to explore different meanings of the aurora, the stars, the earth and how our hearts speak through song. In the words of Artistic Director, Edette Gagne, "The journey to this performance has given both myself and the members of the choir an opportunity to support, amplify and show our cultural appreciation for the Indigenous creative community - which has been humbling."

Featured composers include: Andrew Balfour, Sherryl Sewepagaham, T. Pat Carrabre and cris derksen.

The programme will be presented without intermission, with a reception to follow in the hall. All profits from this event will directly support the mission of the VWMS - supporting young, emerging BC based musicians with financial bursaries and scholarship, to assist them in developing their talents and careers.
