VIU ONE ACT FESTIVAL!

This festival is a collaboration of local writers, directors, actors, and designers coming together to bring you an incredible evening of live theatre! This festival has 2 showings on March 20th and 21st and will be performing the same 5 locally written plays both nights. The performances will take place at the Mike Taugher Studio, Building 330, Room 109 on the Vancouver Island University Campus. The studio is located below "The View" Art Gallery, and beside "The HUB" study room. Parking Entrance "5D" along Fifth Street!

Doors will open at 7:00 pm with the shows beginning at 7:30 pm with tickets available ONLINE and AT THE DOOR (cash or credit)! There are only 32 SEATS per showing so get your tickets before they are gone!

After the first 3 shows, there will be an intermission of 15 minutes; where you can access our concession stand with snacks, beverages, and sweets! You are welcome to enjoy your pruchases from concession in the lobby of our event, but there is NO FOOD OR DRINK allowed in the performance area during performances!

The Shows we are presenting:

1. "Stuck" written by Scott Mullen

Description: A young airport barista's curiosity about the young man she sees get on a plane every day leads her to finally ask him what is going on; the answer surprises her, and changes both of their lives.

2. "Wheel Chair" by Willem Roelants and Aidan Sidhu

Description: Written almost entirely while walking home from class, this is the story of two heroes. One man who just wants what he wants; another man who has no idea what either of them want. The office chair doesn't think anything.
-Critics are raving: "This is technically a piece of theatre"-

3. "Flown the Coup" by Jesse Wilson

Description: In this comedy, a university class decides to take matters into their own hands and try to bring down their English professor after dealing with his incompetence for too long. Will they succeed? And what's so wrong with the prof?

4. "Yes, Chef" by JP Meldrum

Description: When the young, fiery Jack becomes the new replacement Head Chef, his ego, skills, and leadership are put to the test in a kitchen of diverse cooks.

5. "Family Matters" by Mark Smith and Anne Drozd

Description: Your DNA makes it possible to disclose the secrets of your forebears. So the truths you grew up with may not be true. Some relatives may not share your enthusiasm for overturning those truths. To them, family matters.

IMPORTANT INFO: When you buy your tickets make sure to carefully choose which night you get your tickets (either Wednesday or Thursday), as we will not be able to accept "Thursday Night" Tickets at the Wednesday Perfomances and will not be able to accept "Wednesday Night" Tickets at the Thursday Performances!

March 20th is the Wednesday Night performance, and March 21st is the Thursday Night Performance.

We are very excited to present these shows to you and to showcase all of the local talent and skill we have in our town! See you there!
