About Virago

Virago is a Calgary-based, five piece band which specializes in rock music, playing a mixture of covers and original songs. The band was formed in Calgary’s vibrant and diverse, yet closely knit music scene and features some of the city’s premier players.

The band has a residency at Calgary's “Blues Can”, hosting the jam every Monday night, as well as playing shows around Alberta. The band is very energetic and spontaneous, playing incredibly tight interpretations of songs as well as specialized improvising. A song won’t sound the same two nights in a row, but it will always be a spectacle.

Virago gains its influence from a multitude of sources considering the band members' different backgrounds; classic rock like John Fogerty, John Lennon, and Cream, as well as country music, psychedelic, and jazz, even interpreting and paying homage to local artists. Virago’s music gives the listener a unique, engaging, and satisfying experience every time.
