The Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival World Tour is back for another evening of thought-provoking outdoor adventure and mountain culture films. This year, nine films have been hand-picked for adventure-seeking Whistlerites, highlighting the community & unity that outdoor sports can inspire across all walks of life. From the thrill of skiing and snowboarding to the challenges of climbing and biking, these films represent the pinnacle of independent storytelling in the world of extreme sports.

We’re excited to reveal a special surprise for our October 9 screening! Sandy Ward (Cast Member and Producer) and Seth Gillis (Director) of Slides on the Mountain will be joining us for an exclusive post-screening Q&A. Slides on the Mountain follows two brothers from the Lil’wat Nation as they embark on a life-changing journey to ski the sacred mountain they grew up beneath. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear the filmmakers share their experiences and go behind the scenes of this powerful story!

Sneak peek of the films on show:

  • Cross Countries: An action-packed, immersive visual journey of some of the world’s most spectacular mountain bike trails.
  • Soundscape: Features Erik Weihenmayer, a global adventure athlete and author who is fully blind, as he ascends a massive alpine rock face deep in the Sierra Nevada.
  • The Fabulous Life of Nancy Greene Raine: The exciting life story of ski racer, coach, Olympic champ, mountain-resort visionary and Canadian Senator, Nancy Greene Raine.
  • The Blackcountry Journal: Discover the correlation between jazz and skiing—an expression of art, skiing, and black culture.
