Come witness tomorrow's best poets today at Victorious Voices Semi-Finals & FINALS!

8 teams of 4-6 poets compete on April 9th to see who qualifies for Victorious Voices FINALS on April 10th! Team slams combine high intensity solo poems and wildly creative "team pieces" to determine which team wins the competition! With special guest judges providing the scores, competing youth providing the inspiration, and you providing the hype, Victorious Voices showcases the best of youth artistic talent!

At Semi-Finals, you'll witness two back-to-back team poetry slams! A "team" poetry slam includes solo performances and "team pieces" - poems with two or more performers! The first and second place teams from each slam qualify to compete for the title of Victorious Voices champion on April 10th.

All 8 teams of poets representing Reynolds Secondary, Esquimalt High, Glenlyon-Norfolk School, Mount Doug Secondary, St Michaels University School and Pearson College will be competing.

At Victorious Voices FINALS on April 10th, the top four teams return for one last poetic showdown to determine the 2024 Victorious Voices Champion!!

Before the poetry gets slamming, you'll get to enjoy performances from Winnipeg Poet Laureate Chimwemwe Undi, as well as Shauntelle Dick-Charleson, the 2024 Alumni of Honour

After competing successfully on night one, four teams return for the final competition at Victorious Voices!

To start off the event, we'll celebrate and witness the work of Shauntelle Dick-Charleson, the 2024 Alumni of Honour and a former Victorious Voices champion. Then we'll enjoy the incredible poetic talents of Winnipeg Poet Laureate, Chimwemwe Undi.

Chimwemwe Undi is a poet, writer and editor based on Treaty 1 territory in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Her work has appeared in Arc Poetry Magazine, Brick, Border Crossings, Canadian Literature, Canthius, Prairie Fire, Room Magazine, CBC Manitoba, BBC World and others, and at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word, Verses Festival of Words and the Edinburgh International Book Festival.

In 2020, Chim was named one of CBC Manitoba’s Future 40. In 2022, she received the John Hirsch Emerging Writer Award from the Manitoba Book Awards. Her debut full-length collection, Scientific Marvel, will be published by House of Anansi Press in 2024.
