VOT is a singer-songwriter that explores electronic landscapes, lyrically intertwining themes like technology, love, and sci-fi. Born to a Korean mother and a Zimbabwean father, immigrants who fled to Canada, she first saw the world in Vancouver. With a classically trained background, Venus’ love for music began in musical theatre. In her debut self-titled concept album, we follow VOT, the prototype android built by humans, who feels the full range of human emotion. We discover the full spectrum of what it means to be human through the eyes of a machine's experience. Depicting futures where AI is used to better humanity, where hopelessness and new tech are on the rise, is essential to the greater good — and this is one of VOT’s primary missions.

From Vancouver scene stalwart to underground party globetrotter, artist, producer, DJ and VBT&AF's very own founder & director Venetta, is electrifying clubs and festivals worldwide with her visceral and invigorating sets. 2023 was a whirlwind for Venetta, as she embarked on her debut Asia tour and secured a solo show at Germany’s prestigious Hamburger Bahnhof Museum for Berlin’s Electronic Beats Festival, and played notable events such as Fotografiska, Shayne Oliver’s Mall of Anonymous at Schinkel Pavillon, the legendary PAN night at Berghain's Panorama Bar, Silencio (Paris), Flow Festival Helsinki Afterparty (Helsinki), Tresor (Berlin), Endless at the White Hotel (Manchester), and the Courrèges Afterparty for Paris Fashion Week, among many others. Recently listed as Mixmag's 2024 "Ones to Watch," her distinctly high-velocity mixes have been featured regularly in notable publications such as FACT Mag, Crack Magazine, and Resident Advisor. As a DJ, she has played alongside artists such as Boys Noize, Jamie xx, Venus X, BBYAFRICKA, James Ferraro, Mica Levi, Yves Tumor, and Namasenda, to name a few. Drawing from a far-reaching library of genres, Venetta’s sets don't sit nicely within most dancefloor expectations. She takes on a gutsy, yet provocative approach with her selection, blending anything from techno and electro to global club and rap, all with the aim of shocking the dancefloor with an unrelenting sonic blitzkrieg. Her style is climactic and rife with dissociative sensations - mirroring the ebb and flow of psychological thrillers taking listeners on a rollercoaster of highs and lows with frequent changes in pitch and tempo, in the world of Venetta, the unexpected reigns supreme.
