We appreciate your understanding and hope to join you in celebrating freedom at a Justice Centre event in the future.

Description

This is an in-person event taking place in the municipality of Metro Vancouver. Ticketholders will receive location and parking information one week prior to the dinner.

Join the Justice Centre for an unforgettable evening of conversation, fine dining, and a chance to learn more about the fight for freedom across Canada. Connect with the people defending freedom of expression in their professions, the news, and online. We hope you will celebrate rights and freedoms with us at the 2023 George Jonas Freedom Award dinner!

We are excited to present our special guests Andrew Lawton, Rav Arora and Amy Hamm who will join us so speak on their experiences and plans for the future focusing on our freedom of expression.

Andrew Lawton is one of Canada’s most trusted and widely known alternative media voices as host of The Andrew Lawton Show on True North News. Andrew was on the ground throughout the Freedom Convoy in Ottawa and authored, The Freedom Convoy: The Inside Story of Three Weeks that Shook the World.

Rav Arora is a student-journalist from Vancouver whose star is quickly rising as a fighter against media censorship. Rav recently joined forces with Dr. Jay Bhattacharya to form The Illusion of Consensus podcast and has appeared on such popular podcasts as The Jordan B Peterson Podcast and Stay Free With Russell Brand.

Amy Hamm is a nurse being disciplined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives for supporting author JK Rowling’s assertions that biological sex is real. Amy is a defender of free expression and recently co-founded Canadian Women’s Sex-Based Rights - a Canada-wide coalition of allies working to protect women’s and girl’s rights to bodily privacy, dignity, fairness, and security.

Our special guests will form a panel onstage in Vancouver to answer questions about their experiences and plans for the future. You can be part of the event by submitting your question to dinners@jccf.ca. If your question is selected, you and your plus one will be upgraded to VIP tickets.  (Please note:  You must be a Regular ticket holder to be eligible for an upgrade.)

This is a unique opportunity to meet like-minded Canadians!  At our Freedom Award dinner you may meet Justice Centre board members, lawyers, jurists, human rights advocates, government consulates, decision-makers from many industries and sectors, and elected officials from around the country.

We hope you will join us for an evening of lively discussion involving truth, freedom and justice!

The George Jonas Freedom Award was created in 2018 to honour Canadians who have made a significant contribution to the defence of freedom in Canada. Prior recipients include Mark Steyn, Christie Blatchford, the Society for Academic Freedom and Scholarship, and Tamara Lich. The George Jonas Freedom Award recipient for 2023 is Dr. Jordan B. Peterson who accepted the award in Toronto on June 15th. Dr. Peterson is a firm advocate for personal responsibility, which is one of the pillars of the free society and is also committed to defending free expression. He has consistently displayed courage in the face of adversity, and perseverance in the face of ongoing unjustified attacks against his character and reputation.

George Jonas (1935-2016) came to Canada as a refugee from Communist Hungary in 1956. He and his family had also suffered under anti-Semitic persecution by a pro-Nazi regime in Hungary, prior to the communists taking over in 1945. Author, poet, and National Post columnist, George Jonas was a principled and articulate voice for freedom until his death in 2016.

NOTE:  Dr. Peterson is unable to attend the Vancouver dinner.
