Description

Embark on a captivating journey through the history and terroir of Taiwanese tea. In this 90-minute immersive workshop, we invite you to explore the evolution of Taiwan’s tea industry—from the island’s early cultivation roots to its emergence as a global leader in premium Oolong production.

We will transport you to Taiwan’s famous high-altitude tea regions, including the legendary peaks of Alishan and Lishan. You will discover how the unique combination of high elevation, dramatic temperature shifts, and rich soil creates the distinct, world-class flavor profiles of our high-mountain teas.

Throughout this session, you will learn the art of tea appreciation, starting with the sensory evaluation of premium leaves. We will guide you through traditional brewing techniques, allowing you to master the balance of aroma and taste. Whether you are intrigued by the delicate floral notes of high-mountain Jinxuan, this workshop offers a serene, sensory-rich experience. Join us to sip, savor, and connect with the heart of Taiwanese heritage, one steep at a time.

About the Artist

Originally from Taiwan, Walter has long been a dedicated researcher of high-mountain Oolong tea. After immigrating to Vancouver, he found it challenging to source authentic, high-quality Taiwanese tea and suitable teaware, which inspired him to establish his own shop in Richmond.

For over a decade, Walter has been committed to bringing the true taste of Taiwan to his community. He travels extensively across Taiwan’s renowned high-mountain tea regions, developing a profound understanding of how altitude, seasonality, and climate shape the unique character of every harvest. Beyond tea leaves, Walter is also a connoisseur of Taiwanese ceramics, possessing deep knowledge of various traditional and contemporary pottery techniques.

With a passion for sharing his expertise, Walter makes the sophisticated worlds of high-mountain Oolong and ceramic arts accessible to everyone. He believes that tea is more than a drink—it is a cultural experience meant to be shared in a relaxed and joyful way.
