Live Acts Canada + The Live Agency present:
ursidae with special guests Elle Wolf, Victoria Staff and Wesley Attew
URSIDAE (Vancouver) // https://ursidae.bandcamp.com/
Tapped into tradition, and stirred by the indie folk stylings of Daughter, Bon Iver, and Sharon van Etten, ursidae gives voice to her own stories in her newest release, almost//closer an EP steeped in dusky blues and the salty waters of lonely love. Tender and whimsical, honest and fierce, ursidae takes listeners on a journey through dreamscapes and back alleys—all the while reminding us that there’s beauty in sadness, that we should savour the emotions that make us oh-so-hopelessly human.
ELLE WOLF (Vancouver) // https://www.ellewolfmusic.com/
Elle Wolf is an indie folk singer songwriter from Vancouver, BC. Her UK inspired vocals with west coast style gives a haunting vocal sound with a light acoustic guitar undertone. Elle Wolf has collaborated with many artists around the lower mainland and released her debut EP last year.
VICTORIA STAFF (Vancouver) // http://www.victoriastaffmusic.com/
Born in Toronto, I taught myself to play guitar, because at the ripe age of ten there was nothing cooler than being exactly like Taylor Swift. I spent most after-schools in choir or at musical theatre and wrote songs about absolutely anything I could think of. Granted, I didn’t have a whole lot of experience to write about, but I made ends meet with a little bit a story telling and a very over-dramatic personality.
By 16 I had moved from my bedroom to school concerts, markets, small charity shows and assemblies; I thrived off the the feeling of performing. At 18 I moved out and went to BC to for school at the University of British Columbia. There I came up with The Blue Book Project. The Blue Book Project is my first album, and I wanted it to be a representation of who I am as an artist and (more importantly) a person.
Currently, I’m playing around Vancouver and Toronto (depending on the time of year) and writing, prepping for my next big project. I do this because it makes me happier than I have ever been, and likely ever will be. This is my joyride, and anyone is welcome to ride shotgun.
WESLEY ATTEW (Vancouver) // https://www.wesleyattewmusic.com/
Wesley Attew is a world traveling Englishman who moved to Vancouver last February. He draws his style from a range of influences – mainly composed of modern day Indie folk-rock (The Lumineers, Tallest Man On Earth, City and Colour, The Head and The Heart) and 60s & 70s folk music. He displays a refreshing honesty through his hard-hitting poetic lyricism and expressive melodies.
Since being in Vancouver Attew's newest songs speak to the struggle of applying for permanent residency, road tripping across Canada and the friendships made while traveling.
