A bridge between two worlds. Unspoken Realm brings together the quiet, structural stillness of Taiwan’s streets with the vibrant, neon-lit spirit of Vancouver’s Chinatown. Explore the "unspoken" atmosphere that lingers within the thresholds of our cities.

 

ABOUT THE ARTIST 

Unspoken Realm brings together two distinct chapters of my practice to explore the shared frequency between disparate urban landscapes. This exhibition marks the first time these series are shown in dialogue, creating a bridge between the quiet street scenes of Taiwan (2022–2023) and the spiritually charged storefronts of Vancouver’s Chinatown (2024–2025).

The foundational works, including Hsin Chi Antiques and Encounter of Two Realms, were born from a desire to capture the specific, lingering atmosphere of the Taiwanese streets. These paintings serve as studies of the "threshold"—the gates and storefronts that act as silent vessels for a city’s memory. My more recent series, Neon Superstitions, extends this inquiry to Vancouver’s Chinatown, where the architecture shifts from a quiet witness to a site of active ritual, now illuminated by the vibrant, electric hum of cultural icons.

 

By showing these series together, the work reveals a resonance that transcends geography. Whether in the stillness of a weathered gate or the artificial radiance of a neon altar, there is a persistent, unspoken energy vibrating within the shadows. This exhibition invites the viewer to step into that transition—to find the sacred pulse that resides in the quiet, luminous hours between the physical world and the spiritual realm.

This event is all-ages and pet-friendly!

Our building is vintage and was constructed before modern accessibility codes. The B1 Gallery is wheelchair accessible, however the gallery washroom is not. If you have any mobility needs, please contact The Beaumont Studios in advance to let us know, and we can assist with entrance to the B2 Hall next door, where there is a wheelchair-accessible washroom.
