Through a physical exploration of the ways queer club culture, plant growth cycles, and sapphic intimacy intersect, ULTRA VIOLETS subverts our expectations of what queer becoming looks like, and depicts this process as cause for celebration. Set within a world that is part greenhouse, part underground dance club, this dance- theatre piece draws on the history of disco and plant life to propose a new perspective on what it means to grow into oneself. Using integrated design, plenty of disco balls, and dirt, we offer a glimpse into this process and ask one question: do you want to dance?

Getting There:

Signals Studio at CDM is accessible by public transportation. It is an 18-minute walk from the Main Street-Science World and a 12-minute walk from VCC-Clark SkyTrain stations, as well as close to the 84 VCC/UBC, 3 Main, 8 Fraser, 19 Kingsway or the 22 Knight St. bus routes.

Parking: There are a dozen hourly/daily stalls available in front of Kafka’s Coffee. Paid hourly/daily/monthly underground parking is available at 565 Great Northern Way in the South Flatz Lot #119. There is very limited paid street parking on Great Northern Way, between Carolina and Thornton Streets.
