Fall Graduate Student Orientation (GradO) 2026

The Faculty of Graduate Studies' GradO will help you discover resources and meet the people that will help you transition to your graduate journey at the University of Calgary! Take part in welcome sessions, explore helpful workshops, meet fellow graduate students, and connect with the people and services here to support you. GradO will take place in person on the main campus, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Schedule:

· 8:15– 9:00 a.m. Check-in/Registration: MacHall A/B, 1st Floor

 · 9:00 – 11:30 a.m. | Morning Program: MacHall A/B, 1st Floor

  • 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. – Welcome & Academic Integrity
  • 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. – Break
  • 11:00 – 11:30 a.m. – GRAD Foundations

· 11:30 a.m-2:00 p.m.: BBQ Lunch & Student Club: QUAD

· 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.: Service Fair: MacEwan Ballroom: 3rd Floor.

· 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.: Workshops: MacHall A/B, 1st Floor.


If you are unable to attend in person, the morning Welcome Session will be livestreamed (registration is still required), and the afternoon Workshop slides will be shared via the GradO website after the GradO. Please note that you will be enrolled in the GRAD Foundations D2L modules by late August. Through these self-paced, supplementary modules you’ll get to know the university community, learn about key policies, procedures, supports and resources, and be introduced to academic and professional skills that can help you thrive in your program and beyond.

Collection Notice - Graduate Orientation (GradO) Registration

The Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) at the University of Calgary is collecting personal information from you for the purpose of planning, administering, and evaluating the Graduate Orientation (GradO) event. The information collected will be used to facilitate event registration, attendance tracking, session and activity planning, accessibility and accommodation support, communication regarding event updates, and to improve future Graduate Orientation programming.

 The personal information collected may include your name, University of Calgary ID (UCID), email address, Faculty/program information, degree information, session selections, dietary requirements, and other information such as accessibility needs, which is required to support your participation in the event.

Your personal information is collected under the authority of the Post-Secondary Learning Act and in accordance with the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA). The information will only be accessed by authorized University of Calgary employees and service providers who require access to administer the event.

 If an external event registration platform is used, your information may be stored and processed by the service provider in accordance with applicable privacy and security requirements. The University of Calgary remains responsible for ensuring appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your personal information.

 Participation in Graduate Orientation is voluntary. If you choose not to provide required registration information, we may not be able to complete your registration or provide access to certain event activities.
