JANUARY BLUES:  Jimmy’s Juke Joint featuring Chuck Jackson and the C-Notes

Jimmy's Juke Joint is Jim Casson's weekly show that is hosted at Iggy's in Fonthill. The concept is Jim inviting his musical friends to come to Niagara and play with him. It can be any style on any given week. The only guarantee is that it will be great!

Joining Jim for this show will be his long time bandmates from The Legendary Downchild Blues Band and the Hogtown Allstars, Chuck Jackson, Gary Kendall & Teddy Leonard.

About the artists

Jim Casson - Drums

Jim Casson is a veteran of the Canadian Music Scene for over 40 years. He is a winner of the 2022 and the 2023 Maple Blues Award for Drummer Of The Year and was also nominated three times. His mantle boasts Maple Blues Awards, Jazz Report Awards, Hammer Blues Awards, nominations for Junos, Genies, Niagara Music awards and was inducted into The Escarpment Blues Society Hall Of Fame. He has released three critically acclaimed solo albums under the name “Dark Orchard”, four ambient albums under the name “The Reluctant Cosmonaut”, and three with his funky ensemble "Davis Hall & The Green Lanterns”. He composed the film score for the 2024 film “The Damnation”.

He is featured in the 2018 film “Almost, Almost Famous”. He spent 10 years cumulatively touring and recording with The Legendary Downchild Blues Band (Recorded 2 albums and winner of Maple Blues Award for Album of the Year). He has also toured throughout North America and Europe and / or recorded with The Maple Blues Band, The Hogtown All Stars, The Johnny Max Band, The Official Blues Brothers Revue (Musical Director), Rita Chiarelli, Jani Lauzon, Carlos del Junco, and many others. He has performed on over 100 albums. He graduated from the Mohawk College Applied Music program in 1986. He is the co-founder and artistic director of the Fonthill Bandshell Concerts and hosts a weekly radio show on CFBU called “Cerebral Cinema”.
