Experience more than the raising of a traditional tipi: discover the stories, teachings, and values woven into every step of the process.

This immersive half-day workshop invites participants to learn alongside local Indigenous Knowledge Keepers as they take part in the hands-on process of raising a tipi. Guided through each stage, from laying out the site and preparing the poles to securing the canvas and setting the smoke flaps, you'll gain practical skills while exploring the cultural protocols and traditions that have been passed down through generations. Along the way, Knowledge Keepers will share the history and significance of the tipi as both a home and a sacred symbol of community, respect, and connection.

This special offering of our new Tipi Raising Professional Development Workshop can accommodate small groups or individuals interested in fostering a more respectful and inclusive work environment.

The Tipi Raising Professional Development Workshop includes:

  • raising a tipi step-by-step with guidance from Indigenous Knowledge Keepers

  • teachings about the history and significance of the tipi and how tipi-raising practices differ among Indigenous Nations, clans, and families

Leave with more than the knowledge of how to raise a tipi; gain a richer appreciation for the living traditions, values, and relationships that continue to shape Indigenous cultures today.
