Description
Lost in a hostile forest, the Marquis d’Urfé, a noble emissary of the King of France, finds refuge in the home of a strange family.
What were vampires before Bram Stoker’s Dracula? On a mission for the King of France, a young marquis gets lost in the forest and meets a mysterious woman who invites him to take refuge in her family home. His visit quickly turns into a nightmare when the patriarch of the family, Gorcha, returns stricken with a mysterious blood disease. THE VOURDALEK is adapted from the Aleksei Tolstoy's 1884 novella, which is known to be the first vampire story in Europe, preceding Dracula by 40 years. Shot on Super 16mm film, and featuring a vampiric performance from a life-sized puppet, Adrien Beau's THE VOURDALEK is a radical take on a folk horror tale that is certain to send chills down your spine.
