Description

Hailing from the south side of Algonquin Park, The Salt Cellars duo was founded by Virginia deCarle and Rob Bersan in 2016. Their songwriting embodies a fusion of Folk, Americana, Blues and Jazz.

The duo’s musical exploration delves into themes of social justice, relatable circumstance and true stories. Their advocacy for social justice is fervent, driven by a shared belief in empathy, equality and equity. Through their music, they strive to spark meaningful conversations and inspire positive change in the world.

The Salt Cellars have released three full length original albums and one EP to date:

“TRUTH” 2017, “CROOKED TREE” 2018, “INSIDE THESE WALLS” 2022 and their fourth, a six song EP titled “SKY COMPASS”, was released October 2024.

Their recordings feature a handful of acclaimed Canadian musicians Jane Bunnett (alto flute), Hugh Marsh (electric violin), Tom Fitzgerald (violin) and Jordon Zadorozny (bass/drums).

There are also a handful of independently funded videos to compliment their music; created by videographer Peter Chatterton, “YOU DON’T KNOW ME” and “OUR FAVOURITE LAKE” and “WANNA BE WITH YOU” and videographer Harold Eastman  “INSIDE THESE WALLS” and “DOWN THE ROAD”.

As they continue to navigate the ever changing landscape of the music industry, The Salt Cellars remain steadfast in their commitment to authenticity and connection. With each chord struck and every lyric penned, they weave a tapestry of emotion and melody in hopes of leaving an indelible mark on their listeners.

After being introduced by mutual friends in university, Dani and Neha took to singing together immediately. Between online covers, live shows, a capella groups, and a pandemic project to pass the time (a trio by the name Golden Hour with a dear friend of theirs!), they have now been collaborating musically for nearly a decade. Dani and Neha share a deep love for vocal harmony, finding joy in using their voices to build atmosphere and emotion in their music.
