THE ONCE with Shaye Zadravec

Chinook Musical Society presents 9 "Saturday Night Special" shows every year, featuring a range of genres from folk and country, to blues, Celtic and folk rock. While we do present acts from all over North America, and some international, we are especially proud to showcase our Canadian and local Alberta artists.

Each evening starts with one set from our opening artist, followed by two sets from our headliner.

On September 20^th we kick off our 2025-26 season with NFLD favourites The Once, with Shaye Zadravec

The Once are a modern indie folk trio from Newfoundland, featuring Geraldine Hollett on lead vocals and vocalist-instrumentalists, and Phil Churchill and Andrew Dale playing a variety of instruments. The group performs a mix of original and traditional material and is noted for their three part harmonies, which are sometimes performed a cappella.

They have collected a trio of Canadian Folk Music Awards, numerous ECMA awards, and was named Artist of the Year by the Newfoundland & Labrador Arts Council. Opening up the evening will be Shaye Zadravec who is an exceptional singer who sings with an ease and comfort that washes over you. She has performed on our Saturday Night Special stage previously with Tom Phillips & The D.T.’s.  

Shaye's performance is subtle and graceful, with no overwrought star search theatrics… just pure, unaffected performance beauty.
