The Mboya Nicholson Trio, featuring Mboya on piano, Tom Golub on bass and Dan Skakun on drums, comes with an agenda: to swing. Aside from the iconic music of Mary Lou Williams, Thelonious Monk and others, the band will also play compositions primarily from the Mboya Nicholson songbook. These include some pieces from his 2022 solo piano release, Melodic Faces. Jazz is a blues-based language, spoken with a swinging accent. Come and hear the stories told in rhythm and melody.
