Description

Live Acts Canada Presents:

+ The Jins

+ Lazy Ghost

+ Ty Koch

+ Whisperdisco

The Jins (Vancouver) // https://www.facebook.com/thejinsband

The Jins are an impressive, buoyant bunch, a description that they immediately live up to in their live show and their ridiculously reliable record releases. The group (Ben Larsen, Hudson Partridge, and Jamie Warnock) have managed to hack it in a city with an incredibly rich six-string history, but has an economic situation that has about as much room for artists as it does for detached houses... and that’s worth a full sheet of gold stars.

They are resilient, they are beautiful, they are melancholic, and they are unique. Compare them to their contemporaries all you wish, but just know that The Jins are their city’s heroes of jangle and fuzz, and will be coming to yours soon.

Lazy Ghost (Whistler) // https://www.facebook.com/lazyghostband

Lazy Ghost is a remarkably talented band from Whistler, BC. Their music is a rich tapestry of surf, psych and indie rock. They seamlessly fuse together the best elements of each genre to create their unique sound. DO NOT MISS THIS!

Ty Koch (Vancouver) // https://www.facebook.com/ty.koch.3

Ty Koch is a singer/songwriter based out of Vancouver, BC. While he is a classically trained opera singer, his true passion lies in rock and blues. This influence comes through in his singing, writing, and slide guitar playing. Drawing inspiration from The Doors, Elvis, and Jeff Buckley gave Koch a unique approach when it comes to his artistry. Ty recorded his first EP, titled ‘Helpless’, in the summer of 2017. He is now playing as many live shows as possible with his new backing band, while also working on an EP that is soon to be released.

Whisperdisco (Vancouver) // https://www.facebook.com/WhisperDiscoBand

Whisperdisco was formed in Vancouver BC upon the arrival of Viviane Chiamulera from her native Brazil. After collaborating with Darren MacDonald (of Halifax) and writing a handful of songs, they added drummer Aidan Bowen (Vancouver) to the mix.

With very different musical backgrounds they have created a mash of genres that effortlessly molded all of their artistic tastes into a harmonic fondue.

Drawing from the likes of PJ Harvey, Courtney Barnett, and Band of Skulls, Whisperdisco mixes Chiamulera’s voice and guitar reminiscent of the grrrl/90s Grunge movement, Macdonald’s Bluesy bass heavy riffs, and Bowen’s thumping heavy drums to create an Psych-fueled, melodic, and highly energetic alternative/garage rock.
