THE DIRTIES (2013) - 10TH ANNIVERSARY SCREENING

 Two best friends are filming a comedy about getting revenge on the bullies at their high school, in the breakout feature film debut from Canadian director Matt Johnson, whose latest film BLACKBERRY is also showing at CUFF 2023.

Matt and Owen, a pair of misfit high-school students who love making and talking about movies, are the victims of systematic bullying at the hands of The Dirties, a group of classmates who constantly humiliate them. But soon, the two boys start fantasizing about revenge. When it was released in 2013, the coming of age comedy won the Slamdance Spirit Award for Best Feature Narrative, and received incredible acclaim on the festival circuit, including from Kevin Smith who praised THE DIRTIES as "the most important film you will see all year."
