Description
Proof of life is change. From cells to civilizations, from birthdays to new beginnings, growth is what drives us forward.
TEDxUAlberta’s 11th annual conference, ‘RegeneraTED’ invites the University of Alberta campus and greater Edmonton community to explore the power of renewal through TEDx talks spanning revolutionary topics in STEM, creativity, identity, language, equity, and societal structures. Speakers from different backgrounds will challenge assumptions, ignite curiosity, and inspire action. Together, we ask how transformation can reshape the way we live, connect, and understand one another.
The evening features 6 talks, each 12–20 minutes long. After the first two talks, guests will enjoy a live performance by a local artist. The next two talks are followed by a 40-minute dinner and networking break, and the event concludes with the final two talks.

Adeline Lucia – Adeline explores regeneration at the level of identity, revealing how inherited language from family, culture, and society shapes the stories we live by. Drawing on her work in storytelling, coaching, and personal transformation, she shows how rewriting our inner script can break generational patterns, restore self-worth, and unlock a more purposeful, authentic way of being.
Saugat KC – Saugat, shares the journey of building Canada’s first student-led Total Artificial Heart team (Alberta Heart: University of Alberta Engineering Student Group). His talk highlights how courage, collaboration, resilient team culture and bold biomedical innovation can turn a lack of options into a thriving ecosystem for impact and change.
Mesk Alsaafin – Mesk, a current student at the UofA, her talk highlights how difficult experiences like genocide and migration can become a source of strength, storytelling, and meaningful change rather than silence. She reframes her displacement, conflict, and adversity in Gaza through the lens of creative resilience, storytelling, and voice-driven transformation.
Edward McNeal Jr. – Edward explores how controlled discomfort can transform learning and team growth. He shares how intentionally challenging environments build trust, accelerate skills, and prepare individuals for real-world challenges. Viewers will discover practical ways to foster deeper connection, resilience, and performance in classrooms, workplaces, and communities.
Michael Saletta – Michael blends emotional awareness, curiosity, and intentional choice to reveal a practical framework for resilience, adaptive leadership, and personal transformation. By showing how mindset can be rewired through conscious choice, he offers actionable tools to break limiting patterns and navigate life with greater clarity and control.
Andrew Karesa – Andrew explores a systemic pitfall in dementia care: the failure to preserve personhood, identity, and connection. His talk reimagines care through a more adaptive, compassionate, and people-centred lens, calling for patient care systems that respond to the person, not just the condition.
