TEDxMcMasterU: What's Next?
TEDxMcMasterU is an independently organized TEDx event dedicated to bringing transformative ideas to the McMaster University and Hamilton communities. Established in 2018, TEDxMcMasterU has built a strong legacy of thought leadership, fostering an environment where students, faculty, and community members engage in meaningful discussions that challenge perspectives and inspire change.
As part of the global TEDx Program, TEDxMcMasterU operates under an official license granted by TED. TEDx is a grassroots initiative created in the spirit of TED's overarching mission to research and discover "ideas worth spreading." The independently organized TED events bring the essence of the organization to local communities worldwide, featuring live speakers, recorded TED Talks, and thought-provoking discussions that inspire innovation and intellectual curiosity. While TED does not control TEDx events, organizers adhere to TED's guidelines for curation, speaker coaching, and event planning, ensuring a high-quality experience that aligns with TED's global standards. With more than 3,000 TEDx events held annually, TEDxMcMasterU is proud to contribute to this worldwide movement of idea-sharing and community engagement.
With McMaster University's distinguished reputation as a globally recognized institution—ranked among the top universities in the world—our conference benefits from a diverse audience of scholars, professionals, and change-makers. McMaster is home to a broad range of programs, from health sciences to the dramatic arts, drawing individuals with unique insights and expertise. This multidisciplinary environment allows TEDxMcMasterU to feature a wide range of topics, ensuring each event is dynamic, thought-provoking, and impactful.
TEDxMcMasterU has seen growing student engagement year after year. With last year's record-breaking number of volunteers and attendees, the event has become a pillar of intellectual discourse at McMaster, sparking conversations that extend far beyond the conference itself. TEDxMcMasterU 2025 will be co-chaired by Katie Stock and Parth Soni, two highly engaged members of the McMaster community with deep ties to both the university and the greater Hamilton area.
The TEDxMcMasterU 2025 conference aims to continue amplifying diverse voices, sparking meaningful conversations, and celebrating the transformative power of ideas within our community. By partnering with TED through the TEDx initiative, we are committed to creating an event that inspires, educates, and unites, ensuring that McMaster and Hamilton remain at the forefront of global idea-sharing and innovation.
